  • Labour has unveiled legislation to “get Britain building” with reforms the new Government says will help it achieve its housebuilding and infrastructure project goals.
    The Planning and Infrastructure Bill, one of 40 pieces of proposed legislation unveiled in the King’s Speech on Wednesday, sets out reform to the planning system.
    The King said in his speech: “My ministers will get Britain building, including through planning reform, as they seek to accelerate the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and housing.”
    Former Tory party chairman Jake Berry joins Talk’s Jeremy Kyle to discuss this further.

      @@janetmalcolm6191people who have 2 pensions will be quite normal in the future because government made it compulsory for firms to have pension schemes.
      This means you will have the state and your works one.
      What this means is you will not be able to claim pension tax credits and will therefore not be a burden on the state.
      You will not also get the heating deals where of you claim tax credits you can get complete heating for your house/flat for nothing the government pay.
      I know this to be factual where I last lived the person above me was on Woking tax credits and had new heating put in for nothing. The flat I was in had no heating ,it was old and didn't work, but because I was not in receipt of tax credits I would have had to pay.

      @smithychris8537 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Every Reform vote was wasted by not voting Tory is what you mean.
      Reform in its current form will only ever attract working class people who are anti-immigration. The safe Tory constituencies are made up of wealthy people who are pro-establishment. The safe Labour constituencies are made up of ethnically diverse people who are pro-immigration. The new Reform constituencies are non-diverse, white, largely deprived working class areas (e.g. Clacton, Skegness). Unfortunately for Reform, there isn't enough places like that to have a significant core base, so they're entirely relying on the swing constituencies.
      The problem with the swing constituencies is that the Reform votes only took away from the Tories, not Labour. This is precisely what gifted Labour such a huge majority. Labour didn't even have to do anything, in fact, in so many constituencies, the losing 2019 Labour candidate got more votes, whereas the 2024 one won with less. Reform can't take ALL the Tory votes in these constituencies, because most of them are those core pro-establishment rich people.
      Reform will NEVER win.

    The real problem is that following BREXIT, the conservatives did not roll back any of the legislation that came from the EU (most of which was designed to protect the EU's internal market). Therefore, we have signed trade agreements with lots of countries, but busnesses are being held back by lots of legislation that has come down from the EU, which of cause adds to their operating costs. If the government was serious about going for growth, they would roll back this legislation. This would have the effect that less legislation would require less civil servants to police businesses which would have a knock on effect of reducing the size of the civil service which would make room for tax cuts that could help to grow the economy. The cnsevatives proved to every one that they totally failed in the above. New employment laws which would make it harder to remove people who are 'not pulling their weight' will further make it difficult to get economic growth as it would put companies off from recruting people.

      A lot of companies do not allow workers to work their way up. A huge number of workers,no matter their age, do the same role. The same tasks day in and day out.
      I think you are speaking for the privileged minority. Maybe think about the bigger picture?
      As some of the front bench labour ministers know, many of us had to survive at 16 without the support of a family. Rights for 16 year olds should be equal to those on standard pay rates.
