Well, I will not be buying a monument product. But then again, all I have to do is, do what you did, thx for posting this. I love you videos, so informative. Happy smoking
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ I've been eagerly watching your series on these two grills, as I have the Monument 4 burner Clearview gas grill, and I have found it to be of good quality for the price range. I am surprised by the support answers you've been given here, as they have always been very quick and accurate with the gas grill, which was why I am interested in their pellet grills. I'll stay tuned for more,.
Tom, you did a good job on the change out. I agree temp should get to temp faster. Beer DIY people build boil kettles and use PIDs all the time. I would lie to see you do something like that to your other grill. (Your own Frankenstein.) Good Luck if you try.
I have had the controller for almost 4 months and the temperature control is great but every time I put in into the shut down procedure it wants to start a fire in the pellet tube. The only way I have found to not have that happen is to get it down to 180ish and than put it into standby and feed some pellets every few minutes for 5-10 minutes almost thinking about going back to the factory controller as this one is a bit of a fire hazard
Good video, been contemplating getting a Smoke Daddy for my 16 year old Trager Lil Tex. Thought they had one with WiFi? The Monument controller needs more Integral to speed it up.
Trying to figure out if this is a Smoke Daddy controller endorsement video or a Monument pellet grill fail video. Actually we got a 2 for one deal. Well done Tom. Monument has gotta be kicking themselves for sending that grill to you!
After having a pellet grill with a pid controller I would never by a grill without a pid. When that grill “died” I replaced it with a charcoal grill. I get tier of replacing parts after break downs. A charcoal grill works every time. Lol
Thanks for watching Greg! This is cheaper than buying a new grill. This also shows how to upgrade and make your grill more accurate if it doesn’t have a PID controller
Great video, Tom, what a difference when you changed that controller!!! One of the best controllers made….Smoke Daddy!
Agreed! Thanks for watching! Agreed!

Thanks for Watching Andrew!
Wow, that made a huge difference Tom! I'm expecting my 26" on Monday!👍
Thanks for Watching! Good luck…
Return it asap. Buy a z-grills or literally anything but monument.
@@fireinside1984 did you have a Monument pellet grill?
@@Mankitchenrecipes No but did you not watch the video?
I'm curious as to Monument 's response to this after saying that their controller was working normally
Thanks for Watching Matt! There has been no response…..

Thanks for watching MJ! Appreciate the feedback!
Makes me wonder if you set those 2 pellet grills by the curb, would the scrappers pass on them.
Thanks for Watching John! Good question
Any chance you are going to review a smoke daddy smoke generator? I’ve been considering one to add to my RecTeq.
Thanks for Watching Mike! Here you go…. th-cam.com/video/NIz1IlnSO7E/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for Watching! Contact them, they most likely have a new program for the controller they will install it for free

I wonder if I could do this with my cheapo Even Ember's pellet smoker
Thanks for watching Korey! It’s possible, try contacting Smoke Daddy they may know. smokedaddyinc.com
By the way how do you like the B&B pellets?
Thanks for Watching Robert! Yes I do!

A hour to get to 350 is WAY too slow, and I’m not in a rush.
Nice job Tom😃
Thanks for watching Eric!
This upgrade is on the short list of work to do on my old Traeger this coming tax season.....
Thanks for Watching! Enjoy
Wouldn’t it be easier and more convenient to skip thus step and just buy another pellet grill that doesn’t need this mod?

Just another reason to stick with my Weber kettle.
