Rise of the Dragon is an excellent old school adventure that drips atmosphere. (And if you loved Snatcher, you'll find a lot to love about this one, too. It's crazy how much they mirror one another in certain ways!)
One of my most favorite games of all time right here. I always love seeing it posted here and thanks for doing so in such quality. I always comment this on every video of this game, because no one seems to know this, but you can one-hit, instant kill the last boss with a leftover bomb. All you have to do is get right up next to him where he starts whipping you with his tail, and press A + B together. You'll stick a bomb to him, he'll spaz out, and BOOM! Also, you can use a bomb on the safe in Chen's place. You get some additional dialog and such from the cops. Neat stuff!
One of my favorite video games of all time. I will never forget this game. Love the setting and atmosphere. I enjoyed it more than Snatcher I'm not going to lie.
This was one of the Sega CD games that I had. I actually got stuck in the game & had never seen the ending. Thank You. (I hope Tecmo's Deception appears on your list one day but that would be a long video. Maybe one day though.)
My parents let us rent (yes, rent) a SegaCD for our Genesis a handful of times, which is actually how I discovered the Monkey Island series, and we got this game with it once. Man, I thought this game was cool; I was exactly the right age for it. I vividly remember my mother walking by during one of Blade's curse filled rants and her remarking, "This game's not for kids!". I loved point and clicks like this, but without a PC until 1999 I was starving for them!
I was super fascinated with the failed CD consoles/addons from the 90s and always wanted to try them. Someone was selling a Sega CD module and a ton of games for like 20 bucks at a flea market in 1999 or so, and I still kick myself for buying goddamn Pokemon cards instead. I do remember this game being among them.
Pretty cool game. Used to drive me crazy how often you would get a dead end and have to start over, but you’d have to know it’s a dead end and will go crazy trying to figure out what to do next.
Liquid Snake's true origin story, and a grim look into Babs Bunny's future career. Played this game waaaay after its release, but I think it still held up, all things considered. The atmosphere is pretty intoxicating.
My dad worked in the trauma wing of a hospital in the late 80s/early 90s, fentanyl usage among some of the staff was becoming prevalent even then. So the stories were out there to work with but it never became a street drug then.
You wonder how much this game might have influenced "Batman Beyond": one storyline dealt with a designer drug that alters DNA. The original "Cyberpunk RPG" had a similar thing in character creation in which furry/scalie traits could be given to your character.
It is possible to remove the green tint in retroarch by using the shader, color mangler and decrease green rgb to 30 and increase blue rgb to 150, thank me later 🙌
I was 13 when I got the Sega CD. it was a lesson in brand loyalty. i always defended SEGA when 99% of kids preferred Nintendo. Then the SEGA CD was released for $300 !! i saved up paper route money for months and asked my dad to chip in only to get a "add-on" system!! basically all the SEGA CD did was add CD quality sound to the 16 bit Genesis graphics!! ok, fine, it also allowed for some bigger games and some of the blurriest "full-motion video" ever! and don't forget, the FMV only displayed on about 1/4 of your TV screen, so have fun sitting up close kids! Remember the 1st gen sega CD was so awkward too. the Genesis sat on top of it, but since the Genesis was wiser than the Sega CD, Sega gave you a chunk of plastic that was supposed to be crammed in the gap!! then, since some of the sound came from the Genesis and the CD sound came from the Sega CD, you had to run a 3.5mm cable fro the headphone jack on the front of the Genesis to an Input on the rear of the Sega CD, then run a stereo cable form the back of the Sega CD to your TV! EXCEPT, most kids I knew had 19 inch TVs of which many only had coax cable inputs, many didn't even have RCA pin type inputs!!! I had to hook the SEGA CD audio output into my boombox input for sound until a couple years later when I finally got a stereo TV!! EXCEPT by then Playstation was right around the corner and my loyalty to Sega had got me burned, so I chose Sony over Sega's "Saturn"! despite it all, SEGA CD did offer some fun times. I beat Sewer Shark, Night Trap, Prizefighter, to name a few. But my favorite times with Sega CD was the Lunar RPG series! and there was a simialr game called Vay that was pretty cool. the Out of this World + Heart of the Alien combo was also a highlight!
Actually, you didn’t have to do all that. The audio out on the Sega CD was optional, and if you didn’t hook it up, everything just played through the Genesis sound chip, cd audio and everything.
I always hated what they did with that green tint. It's not in any other version. It doesn't even look like it was on purpose, but a mess up (or someone had a bad TV during development hahaha)
Kid Cool was a hard game to pass. I think I ended up using Game Genie even after finding out I could get free men from the flag poles. Hard game. Festers Quest was also unfair & hard.
38:05 - 43:30 So much to say about this game, having grown up on a Sega-CD (We even briefly had a copy of Snatcher somehow); the scuzzy cyberpunk atmosphere, the exaggerated 90s edge voice acting, all the hilarious ways to go out (oh hey, a medical skin patch! -PLOP-) ....but oh my goodness this whole sequence is hilariously...yikes. The Chinese-centric racism in this one is all too prevalent! Especially...consulting fortune cookies for divination. Super cringe!

Brother I played this religiously
Ah yes, Snatcher's younger brother. Still a very fun game in it's own right, and the music was a bop.
I used to have this game along with snatcher on the Sega CD 2 my favorite games of all time! Damn I miss those games!!!
Blades voice actor in this port is Cam Clarke, the VA for Leonardo in the original TMNT animated series
Did you like my sunglasses?!
" I claim this Victory for Asgard ! "
-Thor , Marvel Ultimate alliance
Always been a fan of Robotech too.
dude that's cool fact
Also, the voice Liquid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Oh wow, that's awesome. I knew about the safe, but I didn't realize you could use it on the last guy. Thanks!
Ahh shyt. I never heard of this. Thanks for uploading. Nostalgia Trip

"Is your DNA mutated or are you just naturally stupid?" - I have to remember that line. 😁
Same XD

Love the cyber punk genre. I remember playing this on PC decades ago.
Never got far.
You do a better job with the nightmare inducing thumbnails than these narrated horror channels.
Awesome game. Still very watchable after all these years.

Sega CD/Genesis was my favorite console.
One second into gameplay and we are getting complaints about street crime and the ravaged environment. What a way to start your day.
Ah, a classic!
Amusingly, the limited pallet of the Sega CD allowed for a more gritty looking game.😅
4:08: "Bought off the sale rack at Sears...." * sorrowful sigh * If only. The one that was nearby me was actually kind of fun.
Pretty cool game. Used to drive me crazy how often you would get a dead end and have to start over, but you’d have to know it’s a dead end and will go crazy trying to figure out what to do next.
Another great, if underrated, SEGA CD game....
And another great vid from NC....
Thanks! :)
This was a great game. I spent many evenings playing this during my high school years
1:41:00 That was a wonderful line read right there.

Looks interesting!!
Nostalgia🔥I remember renting this and Joe Montana football on segw cd stayed up all night playing
Dynamix definitely made some interesting games. Shame they're no longer around much like their parent company Sierra.
This was a great game to play again when you didn’t have sh to do .
Predicted fentanyl lol
...or Dragon Energy juice 😆 🤣
That's just any drug really. Fentanyl has been around since the 50s.
Maybe Blue Öyster Club hashish.
Probably nitazines
My dad worked in the trauma wing of a hospital in the late 80s/early 90s, fentanyl usage among some of the staff was becoming prevalent even then. So the stories were out there to work with but it never became a street drug then.
Got some deja vu meets blade runner vibes. Not bad, the sega CD had some winners on it.
I remember seeing the previews on EGM and Game Informer!
I remember controls being pretty fked up. But voicing was freaking awesome.
I enjoy watching this game gotta give it a try I see what people mean does give that feeling of Snatcher
This needs a remaster/reboot
Yes!!
For some reason i kept thinking "theres no way this was an nes game "lol well i was right
Super video.
This was my jam in 93

52:55 Damn is that a woman laying on the ground.

I was 11 or 12 when I was playing this I remember making it to the last level and couldn't beat the half dragon boss. I gave up lol
Imagine surviving everything only to die slipping on a puddle. The 90s way.
Those run and gun sections look horrendous.
I vaguely remember the pc version.
1:15:10 FAIL
Lmfao, slipped on oil 😂
"Posing as a man, uhh posing as a woman." - Leonardo
Erhmahgherd....Serga
That sounds a bit like Leonardo from TMNT.
And is that Tress MacNeille (dot from animaniacs) as Karyn sommers?
I think it is
Sadly not . Its Cam Clarke . The voice of Liquid Snake and Thor from Marvel ultimate alliance .
@@Snyperwolf91 I should have prefaced it as Leonardo from TMNT early 90’s cartoon. It’s the same guy lol!
I always hated what they did with that green tint. It's not in any other version. It doesn't even look like it was on purpose, but a mess up (or someone had a bad TV during development hahaha)
The cheesy acting makes it sound like a skit, but then again this is the early 90s with hammy acting.
No cheesy acting. You do better then. Great acting from the 90s.
You must be a plant to support 2024 trash.
am i hearing Babs Bunny
👍

This pushed it too far
These arcade sequences are so stupid. Whoever thought they would make an adventure game better was on a bad trip.
