16:39 made me tear up 🥹 something about sierra and kenzie being so tiny in front of the massive ocean while kenzie talked about how small and insignificant our body insecurity’s are in the grand scheme of things hit hard❤ i love this channel
Love Kenzie's honest reflections about bathing suit worries and then overcoming that (so impressed!) so as not to miss out on things with your kids. And Sierra's defense of sharks! Love it, love the kindness in this video xx
Really loved your small talk about sharks and the fact that they're statistically less dangerous than things like car rides and strange men on the beach.
My friend did this for 30days. It helped her quit smoking. It's so empowering. She also set up a mid winter swim in our community as a fundraiser for a charity and it was so fun doing it with heaps of people.
I vote you guys try to continue this twice a month, as a mom I totally get sometimes things aren't feasible to add to your everyday life but i think it's nice to take a little time for you and the bestie. 😊
I could relate to the shark talk. 🦈 As a solo traveler in the outdoors people often asked me if I was scared of wildlife and I was usually much more scared of encountering someone with nefarious intentions.
same lol, i used to go on a several hour long hike every weekend and 98% of the time, my fear is other people not wildlife. the only exception is when snakes are coming out cause i am scared of being bit (but i’m still more scared of other people)
Sierra! I know this channel is more about lifestyle and fashion but I think it would be fun to see a challenge series of your team. Doing baking challenge like Nailed it or making cake of looking like random objects. Obstacle course challenge. Anything in fun and competitive!
And then there’s girlies like me who have to wake up at 4 am occasionally and clock in for work and have to be “on” immediately, and stay up late to keep up with life and everything else 😅
You girls are super blessed to live near the ocean and do this. I would soooo take advantage and do this everyday! It must have some really great health benefits! Take advantage!
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but “wearing a bathing suit/bikini” and “missing out on good memories” are NOT the only two options. Just because society tells you that you need to wear a bikini/one piece to swim doesn’t mean you have to!! You could swear a swim skirt/dress. You could wear a tankini and shorts. You could wear a long sleeve swim shirt and swim leggings. There’s SO many choices and different coverage levels to make YOU feel comfortable and confident. You don’t have to “get over your insecurity and wear the swimsuit” if you don’t want to. Plus it takes time to work towards that. You can enjoy the beach/pool in whatever clothes that make you feel comfortable in this moment. You don’t have to wear something you’re not comfortable in just cause everyone else is. Remember that ❤️ (and same goes for men. My FIL always wear a long sleeve shirt to the beach cause he’s a derm and sees how often skin cancer kills people. If you’re uncomfortable not wearing a shirt, wear the shirt! Who cares what everyone else thinks! They don’t matter. Be true to you ❤)
My parents live on the beach on the east coast and when I visit them I always do one sunrise swim. It’s such a great way to start the day. Also, its so nice having the beach to yourself before the business of the day starts.
silly goofiness in nature is the best kind of silly goofiness. i work at a nature center and love how much you guys appreciate the environment around you.
I relate with Kenzie so much about the bathing suit. Ever since I had my first my relationship with my body and bathing suits has changed. I’m in Florida and used to spend so much time in the water (ocean, lake, pool, or springs). But in the last 3 years I’ve barley spent time in any of those. A big part of that is my own insecurity in a bathing suit. It’s such a good reminder that memories with my kids are more important than avoiding something that makes me insecure.
same here. i was on a swim team when i was younger but once i hit puberty at 15/16, i was not comfortable in a bathing suit anymore so i ended up quitting the team. i’m 22 now and i miss swimming but for whatever reason i just can’t get past how i feel in a bathing suit. and i can’t even explain why i feel insecure in a bathing suit
I relate so much. I've accommodated by buying almost a wetsuit - more like shorts and a long sleeve shirt style bathing suit, so even on the bad days I feel comfortable in it. (Also helps prevent against sunburns, lol). As you ease into trying other styles, it's nice to have something you know is tried and true. I hope youre able to get onto the beach with your kids before the summer ends ❤
As someone who gets up at 5 and goes to bed at 9:30 every weekday it’s always wild to me when people do it one time and are shocked by how tired they are at 9pm 😂
We love you kenzie! It is so amazing to see the growth and realizations of you and all the girls through these videos. I feel like you are all growing more confident in different ways and learning so much about yourselves
A good reminder today how different everyone's schedules are. 5am is sleeping in for me. I start work at 7am every day and try to get a workout in before work too.
It would be awesome to make this a weekly thing! Breakfast on the beach after a sunrise swim looked amazing. I wish I lived closer to the beach 🥲 the closest one to me is the gross part of the Gulf of Mexico 🥴
Aw Sierra, long time follower here from Ireland and loved this video so much!! I’ve been doing sunrise and sunset swims for the last few years in Ireland and a few tips for after the swim - fluffy socks, hot water bottles , a flask of tea and something sweet to nibble on, it really adds to the experience!! Xx
Thank you so much for speaking on the issue of sharks. I've worked in ocean conservation for over a decade, and sharks are seriously misunderstood creatures. You're at greater risk standing next to a food vending machine and having it topple on top of you than getting bitten by a shark. It's a shame that the sensationalized media has caused people to fear them!
Hey Sierra! Just wanna say how much these types of videos inspired me. I actually got a standing desk and walking pad because of you (got the SAME walking pad you had loll) and it has changed my life. I work from home 3 days a week and I've been loving not being sat down all day hahaha! Also didn't expect I would use it in my free time! I move it to the living room all the time to walk while i watch something on TV. :) Sending so much love!
The concept, the editing, the format... this is definitely one of your best videos ever. Congratulations to your whole team. I very much hope you will continue to make content like this. I also think that limiting the "cast" to two people has helped with keeping a cohesive flow compared to some of your previous ones. 10/10!!
So fun! Also love Kenzie’s comments that normalize body insecurities at ALL sizes. She and I are similar in size (i.e. considered “smaller” by society) and it’s hard for me to wear a bathing suit. Just love you both!!
Moving from Oregon to Maine, I understand the sunrise on the beach love. I always loved evenings on the beach but now I wake up at 5:00 occasionally just to see the sunrise.
Video idea- you / or you and your crew sign up for a 5k and document that journey. I love watching that content so selfishly I’d love it. Also I found a goal around fitness but nothing to do with weight as a result or anything to be one thing to combat my bad thoughts. (Ie anytime I did a race or beat my time I felt amazing and it didn’t have anything to do with how I looked or anything like that)
I think it also depends on what kind of beach you live by! Cali water is soooo cold. Florida or Hawaii would be warmer water and probably more enjoyable in the morning for me personally. I say this as a SoCal girly too haha.
The ocean is way warmer in HI and FL. Like >80 degrees. Downside is that it's like a bathtub when you want to cool off. It's pretty much only sustainable if the ocean is in your backyard and you don't have much to do in the morning.
Honestly, as a Surf City CA local, I’m more afraid of the dolphins then sharks. This is so interesting, and definitely not something I would have ever considered. Thank you for sharing!
I loved this! While it's great going at sunrise, I think you could still go at like 7 and still get the same benefits and them not be as tired! I love morning swims :)
I'm an East Coast girlie and I've lived by the ocean for the past decade. My husband and I just bought a house about an hour away from the water and I am really going to miss the accessibility of having the ocean so close. There it really is something truly restorative about the ocean, whether it is a sunrise swim or just going to see the water.
Chicago has a Friday Morning Swim Club that goes out every week (over the summers) to do a lake swim in the morning! I feel like once a week on a Friday is a good way to enjoy the magic without as much sleepiness lol
Thank you for being honest. My sister lives in Escondido. I was all worried about the Marine layer, which mostly affects sunsets. But yes also sunrises. It’s all greyed out in SD in the mornings. So it’s not about color it’s about the beach breeze in my opinion! ❤️ love SD so much.
I feel like years from now, you’ll look back on this time and miss the time spent with your best friend, just being playful together and present. Love this video and what it means for our friendships.
Sierra, Idk if you'll see this, but I am so grateful for this video! I'm so grateful you've brought your main channel back and are doing videos like this, using a creative outlet to bring people ideas that can support them taking care of themselves, and inquiring about the questions of the world. It's almost like you've built your own little Getting Curious™ community like JVN. Thank you for reminding me that it's okay that the beach is healing for me, and for indirectly encouraging me to prioritize making my way out there as often as I can. 💙🌊
As someone that lives in a landlocked state and doesn’t have a pool, I really need to find a way to incorporate this concept into my daily life… 🥺 I’m obsessed with the idea, though!!
@@chastinsiegel9720 I feel like next summer I could try doing this with a sprinkler?! I do have a yard, and early morning water is going to be cold no matter what 😝
I miss the beach so much but alas I live in an inland state. 😢 I would love a video on your most reached for swim suits that have actually held up and made you feel most confident. ❤
I live in the middle of the US, so no sunrise swim for me! I did enjoy this video, Sierra and Kenzie have a good bond and it shows when they are doing videos just the two of them (and guest appearance from Jayden :) )
I live in the same area as some of these tiktokers you referenced I’ve even seen some of them irl filming and if it makes you feel any better you’re not missing out😭 💕heat index has been over 110 lately, it’s overcrowded with impossible to find parking, and don’t get me wrong it CAN be nice and refreshing. but it’s only really worth it if you live in the more rich areas that are right by the beach and don’t require you to drive over an hour to get to the instagram spots early in the morning🙁
Maybe you could try doing it on your days off, and a little bit later? I feel like if you swam at 6 you could still get the benefits without quite so much of the exhaustion

That's awesome!!! Good for her.
Next video, sunset swims! (Then you’ll get those beautiful colours you’re hoping for since y’all are West Coast girls!)
Yes! Sunset swims are the best

100%! I've travelled all over the world alone, and my biggest fear is always creepy men.
Kenzie has been kind of in the periphery of videos for so many years as the BFF. I LOVE getting to know her more and see her more now!! ❤❤
I love the juxtaposition between your experiences. I love how uniquely beautiful humans, even bestfriends, are😊 Fun video, ladies ❤

What an incredible experience. And kenzie's truth about not wanting to miss out hit hard. Love this one ladies!

Also won’t the sunrise be later at different times of year? Colder too, but that could help the dead tiredness 😂
omg i’ve never heard someone else talk about travel anxiety & waking up so early LOL i feel that 1000%
1:00
love this vid, good vibes and hope you get some sunny days soon!
This combines the two things I hate the most - waking up early and bathing in the ocean. However, I can see why this is appealing to some people
I’ve been waiting for this YAYAYY
Loved the drone shots
So jealous of this! I’m not sure anyone could live further away from the ocean than I do lol. I hope to see it someday!
15:55 the difference of mood in these clips is hilarious😭
Omg I’ve been waiting for this video!!
I wake up everyday for work at 4:30am 😅 done at 3pm
I’m so glad you don’t post your daughter’s face online, but her little hair done on your lap is so cute I’m happy for you 🩷
So early ❤ lol I should try this I live 10 mins from the beach and haven’t gone once all summer.
Kenzie wearing the Oregon sweatshirt 😍😍😍
I feel like the ocean and then gardening is so earthing and grounding like wow
i loved this omg you guys!!!

Water is so healing!
I felt this peace watching this ! I think if u got used to waking up early it would be even better . I loved this ❤
I’ve done this once, and bc I live in tx the sunrise on the beach was so beautiful 🥹

Those red honchos have me itching to order to order because they come in my plus size!!
There’s just no way I could get myself asleep by 9:30 to get 8 hours and wake up for sunrise.
Praying for you and your families and all of California.
This makes me really miss living in the San Diego area and just being able to drive to the beach for a sunrise and especially the sunsets.
California beaches and mornings are cold! Nothing like Florida and Hawaii.

The big take away for me was that you made time, and memories, with your friend and for yourselves. Good job!
