    Thanks so much for sharing your experience! This is very encouraging especially because many can be so negative about the teaching field; however I’m happy to see that there are others that still have a passion for students and seeing them succeed.
    I definitely agree that elementary school is not my cup of tea and I am leaning in the direction of teaching high school sped. My only concern is behavior management which was really challenging for me this year as a para for a kindergarten class. However I really like the idea of building rapport with older students. I’m sure behavior management is much different from HS. How do you plan on managing behavior in your class? And is this something that typically is harder to manage with older students? Thank you!

      Hey! I wish you luck on your next steps. I really think you’ll enjoy highschool! I would say you’re 100% correct when you talk about building rapport with the students, that will be your #1 tool. The challenges you face with high school students really is different of course than kindergarten because the behaviors really stem more from social dynamics.
      My biggest thing with behavior management is consistency, routine, but most importantly showing students that you’re not dealing with BS. And always remember “do not give an inch” because students WILLLL take a whole mile.
