The FAMOUS Goodwood Festival of Speed turnaround spot is being compromised over safety concerns. This may have stemmed from the AMG GT fail last year (it drifted into the bank).
Whilst 'professional' drifters and drivers were allowed to spin their race cars, the supercar batch has now been heavily observed, and naughty drivers photographed to be sent to the show's superiors!

I don't know why there are so many "like" on the main message.
The difference is that the known "drift" section is not a drift part. On the opposite, the "track" part IS made as a track with security features regulations. If you don't know, multiple layout of rectangular straws bales against each other are very efficient to stop a car without causing too much damage to the driver while being not too expensive.

This event is not all about this tiny section of "drift". It's very reducing for this big event. For most of those, it's not drift but "power slide". Right drifting technique used here is done by drift cars. Personnaly, I don't think it's a big problem. Just by fact, some drivers here can't really can do power slide in control fully. And that, that can be the problem and make the difference.

@@joem2841 Maybe because multiples factors like a prototype that should avoid any damage, but because it's a special event, the driver is allowed to try. A car (F1) that is not designed for this purpose > clutch do not like it but can be made at the end of a race by example. Cold tires especially on supercars affect how will react the car. Supercars got tires temps features because it can avoid crashing the car after a cold start. Some drivers send too much power making a very short u-turn instead of a regular slidding. It's not always because of the driver, it can be the weather, if you drive on a sand/oiled surface, many factors.

The bird would have flown and a proper fuck off would have been said. Followed by another burnout and a discussion with my other friends about reducing sponsorship funding for the following year. The marshals are there for basic safety but when you want to police one group vs another nope you can fuck right off with that shit!

So bizarre. The sliding mainly caught on because a lot of race cars have bad turning circles so a blip of the throttle is the fastest way to get them around. I get that some people in the past have taken it a bit far and it’s always a 50/50 if the driver actually does it in a controlled manor, but to give the lambo driver a proper school boy telling off for not even doing a donut is flat out ridiculous. Rules are fine if they’re consistent and not enforced by an absolute jobsworth like that guy.

@@N4CR It's a hill climb. Point being though. Most are professional drivers and or test drivers for the manufacture. The ones who get invited to test drive the cars at Goodwood generally drive the hill in a decent manor and don't drift around the the top and bottom.

This is the bottom of the hill, before the run.
There's a tyre warming area just before the start line, but to be honest a lot of hillclimbs (i.e. ones which are actually competitive) have no tyre warming areas.

Imagine being so petty that you decide to be a security guard at one of the biggest car shows in the world and get mad at people for doing skids and donuts. Having a word with them is one thing, but actually taking pictures of the drivers and asking them to get out of the car is just stupid. I feel like it's all jealousy that they'll never get to drive one of these cars themselves.

At FOS this year the marshalls all seemed a bit touchy. During the Red Bull build up they were having arguments with the the RB crew, to the point where RB we're just ignoring the marshalls all together!

CanAm cars are some, if not the most powerful race cars ever built. The Porsche 917/30 Can Am car could make 1580 hp at full tilt while weighing at 800kg (1800lbs). i love this event to bits but its impossible to ignore the slow downward spiral. this year's first glance batch was basically unwatchable, id argue the kimera was the only cool car in the entire batch, obviously thats gonna be the case with emission regulations but i hope next year theres less of a focus on electric SUVs

Actual L event. It's a closed area, there's copious amounts of crash protection for spectators, the cars are well able, and if you can drift or do doughnuts why not? If they damage their car, it's their problem... If I wanted to look at supercars doing nothing I'd just pull up a picture. Events like this is supposed to be the place to see what they can actually do.
I'm going to say it. That's a shit sign at a professional event. I mean, that could mean no actual food doughnuts :P If you want the drivers to take a sign seriously, have one that isn't comedic.
