Way worse than Nates situation. Majors had video evidence, and witnesses on his side, and still got charged. Misdemeanors don't even go to trial. They changed the rules just to prosecute him.

FINALLY a major channel on here mentions Nate. I'm not necessarily here for Jonathan, but for those who are staunchly defending him even AFTER his guilty verdict, where was the support for Nate whose entire career was snatched away from him because he made a film that pissed off the powers that be in Hollywood??? That man was acting for years and nothing was ever said about the trial until he made the movie about Nat Turner. Then they gave the best actor Oscar that year to Casey Affleck who was accused of similar acts and settled his case out of court to avoid standing trial. My heart still breaks for Nate Parker to this day. That brother is a true talent.

Imagine having a jury hear all of the evidence and finding you not guilty. After all of that, this man is being expected to answer for the suicide of someone who falsely accused him of a crime. Where is the compassion for him that cancel culture demands from him? He should rightly be bitter, not emotional, about what happened to him.

I read the story, though. It did seem like the woman was too high on drugs to consent. And it wasn’t that he had s3x with her. He invited his friend, also. She didn’t want that, but was too high to fight back.
Nate Parker was a popular athlete, and athlete culture is that they expect girls to fall all over them. They are so used to it, they don’t realize when they cross a line. That was Nate Parker’s issue, unfortunately.

Two different stories and neither are the same. Johnathan Majors was railroaded by Disney due to his contract. No one pushes a trial for a damn misdemeanor. Majors had a contract where he would collect 85% of his Marvel contract for any marvel films that he’s in whether they’re released or not. Since Disney is going through a rebuild stage they asked Majors to restructure his contract and he said no. The young lady initially stated she never said major assaulted her, the NYPD officer was the one who accused him which we saw on video. All of a sudden she changes her story out the blue. i met Nate Parker on Martha's Vineyard in 2016 at an after party for the African American Film Festival on the island. it was a small gathering, but i could not get anywhere near him because he was surrounded by people hanging off of every word he spoke for the entire event. i got one picture with him and he was back to mingling. it was as if he were a Civil Rights Historical Figure brought there by time machine. he spoke with power and wisdom. this was months before his scandals. i was sad to hear that. the level of respect this man commanded was amazing. everyone focused on him and him alone. India Arie gave an impromptu performance, Aja Niaomi King (his then co-star) spoke, Michael Nutter (former Mayor of Philadelphia) was also there but Nate Parker WAS the energy in the room. as the party slowly concluded, a White man (outside on the porch) asked me where Nate was and that his "people" were looking for him. he was now in the kitchen with 30 people surrounding him. i couldn't even get close enough the relay the message. the whole "Hollywood" thang is REAL. He still hit her and she had a minor injury. It's why their was a split verdict. They charged him on 2 of the counts against him. We need to learn when something is racial and when it's not. Charlie Sheen. Rob Lowe is another one who made it back after he was with a minor on video doing a 3some. I could never understand why the media made it seem as if the accuser in Nate's case un-alived herself within the time frame of the case. She was in a drug rehab when she o'd in 2012. I think the hit piece was because his partner was found guilty and then they co-wrote the Nat Turner together. I did find out that his co-writer appealed but it never went to court because the accuser didn't want to testify.
No doubt Nate should be working when we look at how his counterparts faired in interviews and in the business.
Marvel/Disney kept Jeremy Renner and Josh Brolin after much worse. Jonathan shouldn't have been arrested. THERE IS NO REDEMPTION for a BLACK MAN.

Oh wow. Didn’t know or remember the piece about co-writing the movie with the man who was actually found guilty. I remember it as a college setting, perhaps his roommate but didn’t realize he remained close, partnering in art & business to the accused. I really see why things unraveled for him. I also remember the deceased brother releasing a statement or an open letter writing about how the situation allegedly haunted his sister and believed to have led to her passing.

I think it's terrible that it was only a 6 month sentence for the other guy after being found guilty. On the flip side many people would have thought the 6 months isn't bad and wouldn't even have bothered to appeal.
I remember reading that the accuser always has drug issues and the brother was just looking for a moment.

I seriously question his PR team on pursuing the CBS/ 60 Minutes platform and lacking the sage media forsight to replace him with another lead or supporting actor for the interview.

I think he isn't getting all BW's support and the reason the tide turned so quickly on him is because the timing of this incident coincided with this black gender war that's fueled by those who favor dating interracially, while talking down on black people and love. Ten years ago, BW would've rallied for him. Today, a good percentage have chosen to stop rallying for BM due to the gender cyber war that's going on and the hate being pushed so publicly. And you can best believe THEY see this war, too, and they WILL continue to divide and conquer us ... and emasculate BM. The issue is, they now know BW will no longer protest with the same energy they used to, especially if the man they're emasculating chose Becky. 😕

Michael b Jordan better watch out. Only 1 black man can be at the high level at a time. It was Nate, then Michael and then it was suppose to be Jonathan but they destroyed him.

Didn’t they find texts from Johnathan’s phone trying to get her to keep their issues on the low? If the only evidence was the footage of him running away I would be pissed for him but can someone clarify because I think I’m missing something

The reason why black stars fail to survive scandals is that no one fights for them at board room level at the studios. Now that the studios are on the back foot - after the strikes - the independent scene is going thru a growth spurt. It's an opportunity for black people to start their own production companies. Will they do it? Not likely. They seem to prefer to fight to dine at the big table rather than have a table to themselves.

Nate made a black liberation movie and SA allegations that he’d not been found guilty of were used to make it fail, even his own people didn’t support it. Somehow we have to be absolutely perfect to make progress.

Regarding Nate Parker’s response, perhaps he would now say I am sorry about the young woman’s suicide and I’m just as sorry that she lied.

This was so sad. I was wondering what happened to Nate. He had a right to say I wasn’t found guilty so I don’t want to keep talking about it. She was too mad he kept saying I talked about on 60min. Her pride hung him.

I don’t think we should have put Robert Downey Junior in The comparison. He was kicked out of Hollywood for years, if I’m not correct. That’s why his reassurance in Iron Man was such a big thing. Even the studio didn’t want to hire him because of his past. The only reason he is back on top is because Iron Man was such a big hit.

And Nate's career ain't been the same since. Jonathan is going to be black listed. I feel bad for both of them. I am not condoning SA or DV. I just believe if these would have been blk women, this would not have been handled this way. Race definitely played a heavy part in both situations.

This is why black community should always have their own and support their own. But too many black people fight each other for acceptance by the others to get what is going on in Amerikkka. Separate but equal should have always been the goal.
