      Hi Dom... I'm not much of a 45 guy... I have prob a couple dozen, but nothing too crazy, and I rarely listen to them. I've purposely limited myself to LPs, otherwise otherwise I'd buy WAY too much and the mortgage would never get paid, haha.
      Thanks for the suggestion

    Hi Frank -
    Love the shopping and "travel" videos. That flea market would be a total time-suck for me. John Coltrane - cool beans, man. Blue Train is a great pick up.
    Looking forward to a similar video from Winnipeg!
    Cheers!

      Thanks Paul! I do hope to do some "out and about" vids in this new city as well. The flea market is always interesting... always lots of characters there, that's for sure. And no shortage of things to check out (though some are over-priced).
      I'm happy with the Coltrane record!
      Cheers

    I also went to the Flea Market in Oshawa with a friend about a week ago and found a couple nice gems on LP, Test Dept. - Beating the Retreat and Trouble's self-titled LP by Banzai Records! The latter is warped very badly and will be getting it fixed from my local shop's Vinyl Flat kit very soon.

    I hope you are not too disappointed in Winnipeg record stores and flea markets. Our flea markets are nowhere that organized but I think our stores are decent, with Into the Music my personal favorite. Hope to bump into you sometime during your record hunting. Welcome back to Winnipeg!

    • @Channel33RPM
      @Channel33RPM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cameron! I'm familiar with most of the record stores in Winnipeg, so no disappointments there. I remember buying bootleg cassettes from Into the Music when it was on Corydon, then Osborne. I think the Exchange location is one of the better record stores in Western Canada. I've been to Thirsty's flea market a few times, and while it's smaller, I've found some good deals there. It's cool that Comic World (one of my fav haunts as a kid on the 80s) has a space there. Where are the other flea markets?

    • @cameronzywina906
      @cameronzywina906 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is another on Osborne, near the transit station, but it is not as good as Thirsty's. There is a new documentary on Winnipeg record stores, but I have not seen it yet.

    That's a nice (and big) flea market Frank...the Vancouver equivalent is nowhere near so clean & well organized, there are some record sellers but you kind of feel like the cops are going to burst in any minute. Heard about Freecloud from a friend who used to live in Edmonton for many years. Digging with the kids in tow, I haven't braved that yet! Still need to pick up that Afro-Latin Soul Vol. 2, got gifted Vol. 1 which was pretty cool. Cheers!

    • @Channel33RPM
      @Channel33RPM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Doug! This is the biggest flea market in Edmonton and always fun to visit. There are some real characters there... the deals are getting harder to come by, but it is possible to find cool stuff.
      Freecloud is small, but I tend to find lots of good things there.
      Thanks for weighing in!

      Thank you. I like to bring them once in awhile...it reminds them that music can be tangible, not just something streamed from their iPads. I remember my mom used to drag me off to antique stores when I was young, and I hated it, haha. Of course, that's how I got the bug myself.
      Have a great week.

    ooo! I noticed that your fave record store had snfu anoewtp in the window. I still have to get a better copy of that with the 2nd cover. the flea market looks sweet. hopefully I can find the place if I ever get to Edmonton again. I can't get my kids to join me anymore when I go snoopin for records. enjoy it while it lasts :) SRV never gets old. his albums will always be timeless. Rock on!

    • @Channel33RPM
      @Channel33RPM  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sharp eye Gil! My kids are already grumbling about record shopping, haha. But once they get out there it's ok. I bribed them with a trip to 7-Eleven, haha. I remember when they were super little, I'd hold a kid in one arm and flip through the stacks with the other. If you ever make it to Edmonton, there are two Super Flea Market locations... one on 111 Ave and one on 50th Street. This is the larger one on 111. Only open Saturdays and Sundays.
      Hope you're feeling better.

      thanks Frank :) .. things are on the up and up.. but I find that I do a little too much then the foot swells up and I pay for it.. however I did get into my room for a little bit a couple of days ago. crawling up the stairs backwards in yer butt is quite a workout. hahaha. One thing I don't miss about bribing the kids are the time where I end up spending more money on their treats than the couple of bucks I spent on records. :)

    Frank, we used to have an awesome flea market in our town. In fact, most people only knew of the area because of the flea market. Unfortunately, they closed it down to sell the land for development. It's only being developed now, about 10 years later. Almost everyone misses it now. There's nothing like it anywhere nearby now.

    Damn, Frank, I've never seen a flea market look so good. About that record department, how far would you say Edmonton is from Chicago?
    It's been about 6 weeks since I bought a record. I blew off the most recent record show in Hillside (May 21) and I love those shows...I was putting away for the Deluxe Sgt Pepper Box set and it was well worth the wait - even the extra day I had to wait for delivery because Amazon screwed up my address.

    • @Channel33RPM
      @Channel33RPM  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been to Chicago twice. It's really far, haha... according to Google, Edmonton is 1, 435 miles northwest of Chicago ... just a stone's throw from the Rockies. We're much closer to Montana, Idaho, Washington.
      Cheers!

    Hey I have a question. Are my records safe in a 80-95 degree house without air conditioning during the summer? They are well packed in an odyssey LP box. My windows slide to the side so I can't use a regular air conditioner and I haven't gotten around to purchasing a portable air conditioner at this time. I'd appreciate an answer as I'm quite unsure about their safety.
