    Nice one Jason for face its usually always the infrared getting corroded through the ear speaker but you can do a precheck with selfie mode on portrait mode to check if the dot projector is working if not you won't be able to fix it. I had a shorted thermal camera the other day which gave me no cameras so I had to dremel another thermal camera and replace from another phone 📸 then it worked 👌

      Planning to do this before much longer. This is one room set up to move pretty smoothly. There's the bench, Angie's desk, my desk, a shipping and receiving area & the job shelving. It's pretty small but I'm sort of proud of it. =)

    Don't walk......run away from this job! My guess is 10 layers (maybe more) of power, GND and signals traces. Think how many of those damaged traces go directly from the connector straight to the SoC, no resistor, cap or component to utilize for a jumper to repair those broken traces. This board falls into the "pet" category. Good call, Jason.

      That is in this video I believe: th-cam.com/video/hzMEfOtMM34/w-d-xo.html
      If touch quits working with home button connected, it is likely a ground pin (end cap/anchor) on the home button connector that is recessed and not making connection. Hopefully this helps!

      Yup. By removing the CPU, NAND and logic eeprom. You can then transfer them to an iCloud locked iPhone X top layer. The original bottom Bluetooth, wifi, cellular layer can simply be reattached.

  • @SidneyCritic

    Shame out that, ie, it could be fixed, but it too expensive to fix.
    That's the kind-of repair we have to do in the automotive world, ie, a customer brings in a Nitro cylinder head with a hole the size of a golfball, and you have to weld it up and re-machine it back to tolerance so it fits/works. I'm a Mech Eng, so I can be unconventional to get stuff done.

    Perhaps customer could have been offered a chance to try and fix with the caveat that they pay a fixed fee even if unsuccessful and that you accept no liability
    I can’t imagine anyone fixing that bar Chinese board techs who have the time and patience. Even then how long it lasts is a big gamble.

    • @OnYourSquare
      @OnYourSquare 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That screw hole contains traces for front camera, face id, the front mic, the flash, the PMU for the cameras, baseband enabled and more.
      We typically charge 60% the cost of the device for a board swap. So roughly $260 on an iPX. The advantages are it comes out cheaper than purchasing a new device. The device regains full functionality and they keep their data.
