I asked a question on my last upload about VODs versus Highlight reels, and I decided to put together this little highlight reel as an experiment! I'd love to know if you prefer things like this or the full VOD (which you can find in the description) or heck even both idk. lol. Again, thank you all for the warm welcome to TH-cam and also to Hearthstone :)
Edited content is king on youtube. It's best practice to have a second VOD only channel so the two types of videos don't mess with each other in the algorithm.
Btw really enjoyed the full vod for this. Please play more hearthstone or try out other card games like Wildfrost/Slay the Spire. :)
Hey Voxy! I prefer these highlight reels personally but I think having both is good. I had the vod up before you posted this listening in the background lol.

I really preferred this version and I think you did a great job distilling it down! If you keep this format going I’ll be subscribing on TH-cam for sure, I just get overwhelmed by unedited VODs sometimes.

And Im glad you are having fun with it because it can be quite the shocker compared to other TCG's, really hope to see both more Hearthstone content, but also just more stream highlights in general!

This woman might just be one of the most entertaining heartstone streamer I've seen in years, and she barely plays hearthstone
it's refreshing see someone genuinely excited. most HS streamers are either sick of the game or sick of blizzard.
Wenn i was a beginner , in the solo adventures, the "Boomsday Project" with the OTK ( one turn kill ) lethal puzzles was the most enjoyable for me. I have learned a lot from that expansion. I have completed fully 3 times in the next 6 Years. You played very well, 6 win is really good in the Hs Arena.
6/3 was excellent for someone who is starting now, of course the background of Magic helps a lot, even if they are completely different games, you already have the notion of some plays, controlling the board, tempo, Value... etc, etc. But for a game as "chaotic" as HS, you did very well, continue with the content if possible =D Don't forget, in HS, tempo and especially board control are fundamental, 90% of the time the one who controls the board wins the game, except for some cases of combo and one turn kill decks, but you will not see those in arena, so control that board and you chances to win are way bigger.
You're really good! Of course some MTG skill transfers to other card games, but didn't expect it to be THAT impactful.

Even though it's a bit more effort, I always prefer having both the full vods and the edited down videos for consumption. I'm so glad I got introduced to your content through Rarran! Your humor and energy are infectious. I hope you continue to enjoy Hearthstone! It has its ups and downs but after playing since around 2017, I still love it as one of my favorite games ever.
Love the highlight reel, don't always have the time to watch every VOD so I have to pick and choose so this is great

Your energy is great and going 6-3, like others said, is very good for a second ever run (at 7 wins you would get enough gold to play a new run).
If you want to learn the game a bit more, I suggest the first two or three sets of Boomsday Puzzles. They're a fun way of approaching the game and imo help learn you some of the slightly quirky mechanics of the game. Hope you keep enjoying the game!

I like the highlight reels + vods combo. I watch highlight reels more often, but sometimes it makes me want to watch the VOD that I wouldn't bother with if not for having seen the highlight reel.

My first time playing Rouge:
play Preparation > try to play a discounted creature > realise creatures are not spells > shame concede.
It's never not funny to me when MTG players make that horrific realization that in HS: creatures are creatures and spells are spells 😂
Voxy, lemme show you what I would have drafted based on what I saw during the cuts.
Bash: Great damage, armor gain, solid curve. The break point (Meaning the average health of most minions in comparison to their mana cost) for most 3 drops is 3 health, so it deals with a lot.
Cult Neophyte: As a MTG player myself, tax effects are so annoying, and can sometimes just...timewalk you if you sequence them properly
Missed the next 2 drafts
Execute: Yes that card is insane. Warrior has a lot of "Deal 1 damage to all minions", so that would turn on the damaged requirement for execute. Probably the best card warrior has from their core set of cards
Wargear or Axe are fine: A 5 Mana 6/5 is just...good? Its not amazing but its a fine card. Its like a Sera Angel in terms of limited play, always playable, but not insane. Axe is just a weapon with occasional upside, same thing as Wargear, just ok
Skip Pick 7
Tar Creeper or Verse Rift: Both are fine on their own, Tar creeper probably being slightly better. Like Relics in the Demon Hunter Arena draft you did with Rarran, if you draft a lot of riffs, Verse Riff can and will pop off
Skip the next few
All of these picks are kinda bad? You probably were right in picking Training Session, its not the worst, but its mediocre
And finally Lavagorger is probably the pickup? Its good armor if you hit some of your higher cost cards. A 4 mana 3/5 with Taunt that gains you 5 armor is like a 3/10 worth of stats and that's pretty good

I actually played Fires of Zin all the way to legend, admittedly low legend. Deck really took knowing what you could get, and it was often about setting yourself up to get the best rip possible when you finally hit your play turn.
When Glugg's not onscreen, everyone should be asking, "Where's Glugg?!"
So much SCREAMING!!! Honestly though, super fun to watch having taken a 7 year hiatus from hearthstone and never leaving MTG.

You can get something called Hearth Arena and it will literally tell you which card is the best to pick for arena and its a deck tracker too. I don't always pick the one Hearth Arena recommends but I almost always do agree with it. They also have a class tier list.
6/3 is hard for good players so getting it on your 2nd ever run is cracked. Good stuff

Just finished the VOD but I personally prefer edited videos, for Arena I always enjoyed it the way Kripparian used to do it. Basically show the entire run and edit out the waiting periods / uninteresting games / long turns cut down to the important parts or speed up through long animations.

0:50 alright in fairness Counterspell and Objection are cards that your opponent plays on their turn, which affects the next creature/spell you play. Not interaction for a particular creature, interaction for whatever you play next. Neither of them are MTG's interaction where you instantly say "no, that spell cannot happen" in response to a thing happening.

Hearthstone has always been unique to me in the sense that it has effects which can only work in hearthstone as it doesn't have a physical copy of the game. For example, discovers. What other card game lets you select something like 3 random cards that don't start in your deck.
The secret TTS is sooo fucking good
6 win is a really good for a beginner in arena, let alone beginner in HS.
Arena skill distribution is 70% draft 30% gameplay, you drafted the second deck really well (and got lucky with glugg too)
So yea that show how your limited skill in MTG have transferred well to arena in HS
there is a companion called Heartharena and it shows played win rates and adjusts picks for your decks and archetype if your new you should try it

Hey Voxy, arena is much more about board control, so you should try to take favorable trades more often than just jamming face, it cost you a few games in this run.
First rule of HS arena highlights. You ALWAYS show what's in the reward pack!
Very little to figure out once you get the key differences really. When starting out HS is complete and utter random nonsense, unless you memorize the meta and manage to get / create all the right cards you stand zero chance unless you accidentally outvalue your opponent. And even if you do, half the game is random bs with discovers and minion transformations that can win or loose you the game right there and then without you having any actual impact or making meaningful decisions. Especially when you go with non-constructed modes, if you simply don't get remove or good finishers you're essentially done. Unless you follow the constructed meta, the game is al about trying to work around the RNG.
Fun to see nonetheless how you got along with it though, but for me it was mostly a stark reminder of what HS actually is and that it essentially hasn't changed over the years.
