I dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any tricks you can give me
So useful. I love it when people used to think it was very important to do a one-angle video in a single take. This must have taken like fifteen tries.
Plot twist: he nails everything on the first take so they shot >400 clips that day. There's no need to heal in editing what you can prevent during recording, and if you ever decide to explain the thing to someone in person you can't cut out your mistakes so learning to correct or move on from those mistakes is quite useful.
Interesting. With my songwriting, I seem to either get the chorus down right away and then have to work at the melody, or vice versa, trying to get enough contrast. This video just showed me a different path to accomplish that. Thanks :)
Excellent video identifying all the parts of the composition to make the chorus different from a verse. Now I want to hear the rest of the song for the bridge, intro and ending.
This is exactly what I've been wondering about! Except I'm using an independent harmony (arpeggios) and I don't quite know how to go about contrasting that.
Thanks. Interesting video. Those with limited musical knowledge may strugle to understand it though. Would like to have seen some visual notation expression. You clearly know your subject. Thanks.
It's 2022 I'm 14 and I am making an EP with my friend. This video was so helpful although it was made 14 years ago. BTW In one year were gonna publish it, our band name is prerose.
Oh hey, I’m also 14 and a songwriter :). Glad to see other people my age crafting music. Unfortunately, it’s a rarity for me to find other people my age like this so I’m kinda all alone with making music. Well besides my guitar teachers, but that’s besides the point. I hope for you good fortune in your bizarre quest of songwriting😌 Ps. I would really love to see what you’ve made. Maybe it’ll give some insight on my own writing.
To me it strongly resembles Carole King's "I Feel the Earth Move".. but it's for the "rollercoaster ride" song he plays at the end. (8 years later, somebody responds)
+camfre4k Technically, yes- but as with everything in music theory, its all perspective. It could be seen as in the key of A minor and using the D major as a borrowed chord from the parallel A major.
If the melody feels like it resolves to A, then it’s probably in A. “It’s a roooo ller coooooa ster RIDE.” “Ride” is an A note, which is a big hint (but not a guarantee) that we’re in A or A minor (in this case, A minor because C is used and C# is not used).
It might be clear to you what you are talking about but expecting your viewers to pick all that up from hearing you play each part once is not realistic. You could at least have written the music out and shown some graphics to point out the phrasing and tempo changes. Thumbs down.
I saw the sweater and knew there was something of value here.
This made me laugh so much - thank you ahah
Yeah people wearing that sweater are gonna know what they’re talking about. Me excluded.
Dude.. u r right

Great lesson -it's a real fundamental principle to songwriting -contrast!

Excellent answered my question within first few seconds. Thank you

This was the most productive 3:37 I’ve ever had
Berklee is THE number one place to study popular styles of music hands down.
Bro, I did not expect the example song to be such a banger. Is there a full version?
This is what i have been looking for, thanks.
Fella’s jumper is colour coordinated with the wall. Very suave indeed

Trip Gunn at least you helped this guy out lol.
acculy some info that helps thx !
if it's a dorian progression and the chords are Am to D, wouldn't this take place in the key of G major ? or am i totally wrong haha ?

Song kinda sounded like the high-pitched bridge section in Cotton Eyed Joe
Cheeky... cool :D
Verse melodic phrases 2 bars long. Chorus Phrases 4 bars long.

But he did tho, at minus 2:28 he gave us an example
