Thanks, Troy! Actually, we did try to get Miss Missouri but she told us to take a flying you-know-what. Miss Misery heard about Miss Missouri's missive and made it her mission to correct this mishappening.

If it's the one I'm thinking about the young actress did a TV series for a short time after this was made.
It's actually a coming of age film. A baby-fat young girl struggles to come into her own womanhood. Her mother teaches her boundaries and hierarchy in society.

Just remembered that the dad in this movie played a doctor in a movie about a deadly virus called The Andromeda Strain. Great movie.
I love the house and fashions in this movie! Seems like such a more simple, better time.
It's wild to think she was considered overweight. In today standards that's a fairly normal size... i truly believe alot of the weight problems and physical/mental ailments today are caused by all the chemicals and hormones added to our food.
Overwhelmingly due to gross overeating & being lazy. Undoubtedly. Their prerogative you may say. Not when they're a huge drain on our health & welfare services however as they so obviously are now

In the America of 1977, she's mocked for being the 'fat' girl in the class. In America of 2022, she'd be among the 'skinny' girls in the class. How the average American diet, health and lifestyle has changed since the 80's.... [hint: NOT for the better].

This was a very good movie. Great acting. Everyone in this movie was acting like this girl weighed 400 lbs. Even if she did, that would be no reason to be so cruel to her. She wasn't skinny, but she wasn't fat either. I've seen beautiful plus-sized models in catalogs much heavier than Rita. Being a size 2 doesn't make a girl drop dead gorgeous either. Rita's father was a real jerk. He clearly loved Rita's sister a lot more because she was skinny. Shame on him. Helen Hunt did a great job playing Rita's bratty kid sister.
She wasn't bratty at all. She was a well adjusted sibling who held that family together, helping her mother in the house and with chores, while always being left in the shadow of her sister's attention.
What I find interesting is that she is considered fat. She looks like most teens today.

Creature Features, That spell was magical, Double host night was creepy fun, Mr. Livingston's intellect superb, Thank you, Creature Features. Tangella bringing Fang and tarot card reading , what bloody fun, Thank you Tangella.

She's not fat by the standards of today but she was quite fat for the 1970s.

I think I saw a horror movie once about some dude that went medieval reenacting and modern fishing. They caught a giant shark and found a knights suit of armor inside! Stay safe out there!

Yay! Another 70s movie and Miss MIsery!
I'm 65 years old I had to shut this off I couldn't watch it it triggered a bad moment in my life that I had buried. I remember being sent to summer camp and everyone that I avoided me like the plague I don't know why maybe because of my red hair and I was just missing something that the other children had now I suspect it was autism spectrum

This wasn't supposed to be a revenge film but a coming of age film where a "baby-fat" girl grows into her womanhood (sexuality) and all the challenges. The finale is the mother teaching her boundaries, self acceptable, and place Ina hierarchy. In the 1970s, as teen we got this movie wasn't about a chubby girl getting revenge. Context of culture makes a difference.

@@JubJub670 You can watch the movie on TH-cam. That's where I saw it :) It's an "okay" film. 1960s go-go style stuff. Fun to watch and even get a laugh :) Good for Creature Features, that's for sure.
@@janetcraft Yes I saw the trailer and watched a little of the opening. It looks a bit silly but I'm game. Everything is so screwed up and depressing so unique odd quirky films from the past are an entirely welcomed distraction.

Well acted 1977 spooky movie which you best not miss or strange supernatural things may start happening to you! Miss Misery is a good name for a headmistress in a horror movie about a school for young witches!
It depends on how I'm treated. At least for me it is.
I have learned to live with my telekinetic power and not feel like a freak or an outsider I hide my telekinetic power when in public but when I'm home I have fun I move anything around I can pick up more weight with my mind than with my strength I have fun and I practice moving so many objects and watch it levitate and move it to a different part of the room

Actually, here in florida we have both alligators AND crocodiles. The 'gators are more numerous by far, but in our southern reachs the croc's make an appearance now and then.
This is as Good 👍 👌 as Carrie movie 🎬.

The moment the mom was telling Rita about willpower I knew the twist was going to be that she too had powers. I seriously doubt most suburban moms back in the 70s knew central basics of occult philosophy well enough to just pull out of their pocket like that lol
