Dear Creature Features fans - Ms. Shelly Duvall passed away today at age 75 just a few days after her Birthday.
Jack Nicolson said once that she carried the whole production of when the two of them were making "The Shining." Mr. Nicolson was amazed at her courage and dedication in making the production.
Her legend will live on.
And apparently she was practically tortured by the Director, making her do up to 127 takes in The Shining. She said she was crying all day, everyday. 😮 Will miss her quirkiness- she stood out and gave Robert Altman’s films an original signature. R.I.P. Shelly ❤
@@Michele.3142 Stanley Kubrick had ways of trying to get actors out of their "shells" and get into their character roles. Jack Nicolson felt the same way. However, Jack being Jack, knew where Kubrick was coming from so he took it in strides. This does not mean that Mr. Nicolson took things for granted. Oh no. Jack also felt the tension and need to make his character believable. In Ms. Duvall's relationship with Kubrick, he felt that Shelly's character needed to stand out more than Jack Nicolson's. This is why when some critics dissect "The Shining" they ask themselves, "is this movie about Jack Torrance or Wendy Torrance?" There is an interesting observation video essay made by a Kubrick fan called, "The Wendy Theory" here on TH-cam. It's up to you, as a viewer to come to your own conclusions. Come to think of it - I thick Mr. Kubrick had this planned out right from the beginning. Thank you Michele for your reply :)
She'll always be Olive Oyl to me.

Thank You Creature Features for such a Beeautiful Guest, buzzing flick, and a bizzy crew n chat!!! cheers n many blessings!!!🦄🙏🙏🙏
I enjoyed watching this movie very much. Thank you Creature Features for sharing this movie with us.👍💫❤
This flick is famous for the horrific scene where a woman is trapped in a VW Beetle covered in bees. Imagine it; trapped in a VW Beetle! 😉
I believe you mean trapped in a BEEtle! 😜
Troy needs to sport the beehive hairdo….

Troy: please read more in seacampeon replies. I think I know where my stories are going. Even though I concentrate on my music so much and my love with all things in life and Nature it means a lot to me. It kinda reached to the point to ... well ... make a small little joke about myself and my beloved Gertrude. I remembered a few videos ago, you mentioned that if "Janet Craft was a cartoon show on a Saturday morning show, you would watch." Well, I am trying to go there. Might as well. I'm doing my best. See ya soon on Creature Features :)
A real movie on TH-cam. Yahh.
Thank you
Ya! I still wonder how they managed to shot the last scene in the football field with all those BEES!
Thank you Creature Features!
I remember watching this movie and I'll never forget the ending.
I still wonder how they managed to get all those bees surrounding the VW!!
And they were all REAL BEES! - Agggghhh!!
(Just to let you youngin's film makers know - there was NO such thing as a CGI back then. All car stunts and tricks like these was for real. And THAT'S how you make a good movie).
See ya next week!
Cool movie "The Savage Bees". Vincent, Tangella, Mr. Livingston and Michelle Edler are so cool on Creature Features!
You guys are the best
Tangella looks really nice tonight!🌹
I new I recognized her! Gretchen Corbett who plays Jeannie Devereaux in this movie also played Jim Rockford's lawyer Beth Davenport in The Rockford Files.
Early crush for me when I was a kid.
Tangella how do you do you do it, right on the mark again, that wrench caught Mrs. O, one good, great job. Speaking of great this B bee movie sucked me right in and I loved it!!! Gary Bailey KingofDarkness Flight of the Bumblebee is the song I think your thinking of that they. Used to play with the Green Hornet!!! Gary Bailey KingofDarkness
Poor Vincent with this guest it was like pulling teeth for conversations! Ur a trooper Vincent 😁🎤🎤🎤🎤🤘🤘🤘
I remember watching this film glad to watch it again. Thank you. 🙂
I remember watching this in the 80's as a kid. And I was born in 76
And she (the guest) called the movie dumb. The movie was much more interesting than she was.
Thank you 😊 🐝🐝 🍯😊
I also watched this when it first aired.
Many in my second-grade class the next day also thought it was dumb.
I didn't though.
Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo and The Savage Bees were both awesome flicks to an seven-year-old boy!
It's great to be back to hang with the crew and closely watch the scene where the guy in the pirate costume slashes open the other guy's protective suit to see if I remember it correctly.
Kids today don't know the horrors that kids had to face in the 1970s...
Quicksand, aliens, flying through The Bermuda Triangle, Bigfoot, robots, clones and killer bees! The horror!
Uh, Mr. Livingston, Gretchen Corbett was only the hottest actress this side of The Rockford Files. Hard to miss.
(Loved the poetry, btw!)
Great show, best to you all! 😊
Out fishing at night enjoying the show on Monday morning. Got a twenty pound catfish so far
Looking forward to this one ! 😍
"We are… THE KILLER BEES!!" - John Belushi
I think Belushi mostly didn't like the BEE SUITS because of the Visual Slur of him acting like a Mexican Bandit with a BIG DROOPING MUSTACHE & Shoulder Bandoler's of BULLETS & Two Pistols, also he hated the SPRING LOADED BOUNCING BALLS on his HEAD because it looked stupid. Lorne Michaels (The Producer of SAT. NIGHT LIVE ordered him to be in the SKETCH as Belushi was under CONTRACT. That's Show Business for YA'!!)
That wasn't too bad! I don't know what that girl was so hysterical about though, she had a whole VW Beetle as a bee suit.
Your guest was very nice but she didn't have much to say for herself, I think Vincent had to do all the heavy lifting during their conversations, I think she might've been a bit shy. Still, anyone who likes bees is alright in my book.
Poor bees getting some bad PR
Roscoe, from the Dukes of Hazzard, is in this movie too .. the sheriff of hazzard county
One of the best things about movies from the '70's are the cars that were driven ... including the cars I had!
Yeah, TRUCKS & Cars had STYLE & CLASS and LONG BENCH SEATS for your GIRL FRIEND to slide up right next to you while you were driving, etc.! (Yeah, All you Guys & Smart Gals know what "etc." means!)
I drove that same VW in 1978. It was the same color , too.
I remember when everyone was paranoid about killer bees reaching the US. Well, they have and not much has changed. It is like peoples fear of sharks.
Love this. Can't.wait! Thanks CF
Bee nice.
Bee careful.
Bee ware.

At 47:34 : Old Woman "Them's not the bees you're looking for.."
Reminds me of a line in Star Wars that came out the year after, in 1977:
Obi Wan "These are not the droids you're looking for.."
As a beekeeper and a guy used to work in the foundry slagging the furnace off in same type of silver suit. They are not bee proof unless you have all the sleeves and legs, duct taped, and the hood taped down to Bees crawl up under that hood.
Starting Gretchen Hoyt from “The Rockford Files” 😊
Looking 👀 forward to 🐝 Saturday 🐝 night with the Creature Features gang.
enjoying from kenya
This is a Great movie . This was so popular that a Sequel was made entitled “ Terror Out of the Sky in 1978. Of course it also is about the killer African Bees. Attacking people in another town event . It shows the scene with the woman Actress Talia Shire inside her VW Bettle Covered almost entirely in Bees at the opening of the film . Another fantastic film !!
Actually, it was actress Tovah Feldshun, who replaced Gretchen Corbett, who was the female lead, Jennifer, in this movie.
Talia Shire was not involved in either production.

1970's was the cinematic golden age of Critter vs Human genre. Bees, frogs, piranhas, dogs, spiders, bats, ants, worms and even rabbits( yes rabbits! Night Of The Lepus 1972) were just some of the critters that went bonkers in the 70's! If you were able to survive all the man made and natural disasters on film involving planes, ships, skyscrapers, floods, fire and disco, chances were high a critter with a bad attitude was just around the next corner waiting for you!!!! See you Saturday night when "THE SAVAGE BEES" take their shot at scaring the living daylights out of us!
Hopefully we get to see those other films you referenced. That rabbit one sounds delightful. I bet my friend Lenny would love to take a look.
Look at the rabbits, Lenny. *Sniffles*
Look at the rabbits...
One early mourning, Janet and Gertrude sat at the breakfast table enjoying their breakfast meal.
Gertrude - buried in her mourning edition of the Financial Post reading the newspaper, munched away at her Turnip Crunching bowl of cereal, not paying any attention to what Janet was having for breakfast.
CAMERA PANS TO JANET: Janet is digging her way into a large bowl of Extra Frosted Crispy Critters breakfast cereal and reading the back of the cereal box. It reads:
"FREE in every package - a "Creature Feature button!"
Janet: "Gertrude! There's a free Creature Feature button in these Extra Frosted Crispy Critters cereal! I gotta dig in and find it!"
Gertrude lowers the newspaper and her reading glasses and looks over to what Janet is up to.
Janet stands up and begins to dig her hands into the cereal box and finally takes out a small button of the FREE Creature Feature's gang button.
Janet: "Yeeppy! I got it! So cool!"
Janet pins the button on her lapel.
Gertrude grins.
Suddenly the toaster pops up with 4 lightly dark rye bread.
Janet takes them out and takes them over to the table.
JANET: "Gertrude, would you BEE a dear and pass the HONEY over, please?"
Gertrude shifts her from hoof and slides the small pot of HONEY over to Janet.
JANET: "Thank you dear - you're such a HONEY :)"
CAMERA PULLS BACK: Janet and Gertrude enjoying their toasted bread with HONEY.
(Moral: Bee nice to Bees :)
FADE OUT.
@@janetcraft FADE IN....
Janet: " that honey on toast was delicious Gertrude but we seem to be all out of honey now. How about you go get some from that new beehive in the meadow?"
Gertrude thought for a moment and then showed Janet the title of this week's Creature Feature.
Janet: "Ha! The Savage Bees is just a movie Gertrude! Bees are super friendly and they enjoy making honey for us! Here, I'll tie this little jar around your neck and you go and get some yummy honey for us."
Gertrude looked at the movie title.....then looked at Janet....and slowly walked out the door to get some honey. A little later while in the front garden, Janet looked up to see Getrude running down the road chased by a swam of angry bees!
Janet in a loud voice: "Don't worry Gertrude!..... I'll go down to the shop for honey!"
FADE OUT!!!!
@@seacampeon8729 Janet swings open the front door just when Gertrude runs and slams into the front stairs making the sounds of a car sreeeeching to a SKID MARK halt.
Gertrude shakes her head, (cow bells) as Janet SLAMS the door shut!
The Bees SLAM into the front door as Janet and Gertrude run for cover.
The Bees circle around the Manor - looking for the culprit who "stoled " their honey.
Janet: "Gertrude, did, did, you get it?"
Gertrude nods, but with uncertainty.
Janet: "Good girl :) Now we can have fresh honey! Ahhh, Gertrude ... I just realized, that we are trapped in here. I guess we have to tune into this Splatterday's night's show with Creature Features to find out - HOW DO WE GET AWAY FROM THESE SAVAGE BEES???"
Camera Focus to:
Janet Craft: "LIVE from The Poulter/Craft Mansion - it's SPLATTERDAY NIGHT LIVE!!!!"
Studio Audience: Claps and Cheers.
"With special Guest Stars, seacameon! Spooky Boo Rhodes, Mr. Livingston! Vincent Van Dahl and Tangella!"
And introducing the Undead Sounds of the CBS music - "Harry Hangover and the Harriets!"
And now - would please welcome - JANET CRAAAAAAAFFFTTT :)!!!!
Janet swings open the curtain and steps in front of the audience.
JANET: "Good evening! Hello California! Why am I here? 'Cause you guys are so weird and so much fun to hang around when I have nothing else to do during my daytime hours when I should be looking for a job! Rather than looking for a job, I just hang around Santa Monica Beach and just absorbing the Sun and fun! Picture me running wildly across the sands without wearing anything .... well you know :)
If the police catch me, my explanation would be ... "Hey! I'm just trying to get into my character for my next feature film production! Raquel Welch did it!
Nice for them to let me go - running around without any clothing on (after Happy Hours) is acceptable in Santa Monica :)
I love you guys :)
