Sports betting has absolutely ruined watching sports for me. I really have no problem if you want to gamble, more power to you, but it's absolutely infested every nook and cranny and I think it's even more strange how normalized it's become, plus all these companies are so predatory and encourage it too much. I'm glad you agree. I'm so so sick of it too.
There needs to be some serious restrictions on advertising for sports betting, it is clearly a public health issue and is degrading the quality of the leagues. For the actual practice itself at least here in the US I don't see it getting banned like it once was, but it needs to be less visible
It would be one thing if sports betting were a part of normal advertising rotations like alcoholic beverages, but when it's integrated to the point where the on-air personalities are spending minutes discussing it, that's where it becomes to much.
'Neighbour just a bit older than me was happy, married with a kid. Got into gambling so hard that he forged his wife's signature. Lost everything: wife, kid custody, and owes money to family and friends everywhere. Sad story. Went to rehab. Came back, then did it again... Don't touch this sh*t!
Yeah the gambling sites and apps are evreywhere and it have created so much frustration, irritation, abuse and people getting addicted to gambling. Its insane how much they are allowed to run amok as they doo. This is something politicians should really do some good work with strict regulations, especally considering that a lot of countries don't make any taxes on these as the companies are placed in tax-paradises. In Sweden for example before all this, all sports gambling was made through a state-owned company so all dividents that was not pay-out wins went to the state for various social programs and supporting non-commercial youth sports clubs and such things. But now there are these BS things there as well, so I wonder how many countries this is fully restricted or banned beside possibly China and North Korea.
I stopped betting on sports in 2018. To be honest, there are too many adverts for sports betting everywhere and the sports betting markets need to be tightly regulated
I play the occasional $5, $10 or $20 bets but I don’t do it often and it’s annoying how every commercial we get get bombarded with gambling ads. I’ve seen people even bet 500+ on paydays and then I see them later on complain about not making important payments.

I have been talking to people a lot about this recently. Its good to hear I am not the only one who has these concerns.
I think that ever since sports betting became mainstream, sports have gotten worse.
