The defense is as tough as they come, and 3. The team is very healthy. Usually with the Vikings it's either the offense is explosive or the defense is savage, but rarely both in the same season. Detroit really only have offense left in their arsenal, and while it is definitely a scary one, we have the defense to slow them down enough for our offense to take care of business. The Lions - 49ers game didn't scare me; it further convinced me the Vikings have a more than reasonable chance to beat the Lions, and really should probably be considered favorites. Still, I've been looking forward to this game, it will be a great one.

Basically a two-point difference in favor of the Vikings. Score the last time Vikings played the Lions? 31-29. Scores for the last three games for the Lions: 48-42 loss to the Bills (shootout of two teams with weaker defenses), 34-17 win over the Bears, and a 40-34 defense-less shootout with the 49ers. Just the facts. In a game where Detroit's best hope is to win a shootout against a team that only lost by two to them the last time they played and they still have a healthy defense, I don't think this matchup is quite as close as your statistics indicate.

It's more of a salary cap issue. Had Darnold not panned out like this we'd have a lot more cash to sign free agents like Greenard, Cashman, etc. and strengthen the team overall.

I think the lions will be an easier win than the packers, Vikings held the lions offense in check for most of the first game. They were in control a could have bad call by the refs or no call change the outcome of game. They were also only missing 1 key starter on defense. The defense is so decimated by injuries the Vikings will carve them up.

He said they knew what they needed and it was time to rest. Fran said the other teams were always ready and more fired up than the Vikings, and that is why they fell flat. Find the video. It is a TH-cam video. look for Phill Simms and His Son interviewing Tarkenton. No wonder we lost 4. I doubt Kevin will be canceling practices before a Super Bowl game like Grant did. The bills beat Detroit and Detroit beat us earlier, so that's that. If they already had us at 4, there's not much room to move. Many would question us being ahead of the Eagles, but given their QB health concerns most are putting us ahead of them. At least no one has the cheese heads above us anymore.

So... if you give Darnold 40 million in either a contract or tag, are you going to allow McCarthy to have an open competition with Darnold next season? What if McCarthy lives up to the hype, then you have a 40million dollar contract and multi year contract issue on the books, plus now we basically screwed up Darnold's career. I would just tell Darnold the truth, we can't offer him top dollar, and it will be an open competition, and if he is ok with that, yes, keep him. As long as he knows there are no promises. We are a class organization, and so that's all I see happening.

If JJ hadn't hurt his meniscus, the fanbase would call for him to start with every bad game or interception by Darnold. JJ being sidelined all year has probably done wonders for Darnolds confidence. Instead of sitting behind a young guy like Purdy, he gets to be Batman this year
