  • This is a Compilation of all of Jeremy McGrath's highlights from his time at team Honda! What an era it was when McGrath was at Honda. He was Super talented, fast, in shape, had the team, and the look, which made him an icon. In my opinion we haven't had another Superstar of Motocross like Jeremy McGrath. Jeremy set the world of motocross on fire with all his successes, 7 Championships and 72 race wins just at his time on Honda alone. Starting on Mitch Paytons Peak Honda Team in 1991 and 1992, then factory Honda 1993 - 1996. 6 Supercross Championships and 1 Pro Motocross Championship. I grew up watching the Terrafirma's and their was know one cooler than Jeremy McGrath. With everything going on in the world right now it makes you wish you could go back to these days, Luckily we have the memories. Other featured riders in this video are Jeff Stanton, Mike LaRocco, Jeff Emig, Mike Kiedrowski, Larry Ward, Michael Craig, Steve Lamson, Ryan Hughes, and many more. Dont miss the action, This is Jeremy McGrath's Honda Era Highlights #JeremyMcGrath #Supercross #Motocross

      @@wd840mxhighlights FYI trivia: The rational of how WD40 got it's name is because it was the 40th formula that was finalized for sale. "Water Displacement #40"
      Trivia # 2. The Husky logo mimics shooting a rifle with open sights, as their first product of manufacture were guns. Those 3 vertical short lines on top of the logo are the rear and front open sights, as you would see them by aiming the gun.

    This video is so well edited, so well done. Thank you!
    Jeremy McGrath was an absolute force of nature. His career had a momentum that had never been seen before. To me, McGrath seemed like he figured out the “solution” to Supercross, as though he knew something that no one else did. He was a mediocre amateur, you could see nothing special coming. But something very special came indeed! The entirety of his dominance in the sport is hard to comprehend today. This video really portrays just how remarkable an athlete he was.

    • @EarthSurferUSA

      Imagine what? When everybody has the tracks wired, (because they are all basically the same stuff since the FIM took over the racing in the USA), I know exactly what would have happened. McGrath would have won a lot less races than 72 wins. We will see somebody win still, but we will never see that greatness again---because the tracks are designed to keep everybody the same speed. The philosophy that the FIM imposed on our tracks actually comes from communism, where nobody is suppose to do better than their neighbors,-everybody equal. That--is what kills individual achieving greatness, and that si why we get smoked at the MXofN, (If we ever see that race again). Go get into road racing. Throwing dirt on a road race course is not MX/SX. It is just a fast average. Jeremy would have been luck to win 30 races in his career on these smooth, easy (fro these guys), tracks today. That is why they are all the same speed. We would be about the same speed on xr75's around my driveway too, because we have enough skill to get it wired,---even if we are drinking beer.

    I was a kid in the 90s, and I vividly remember countless times watching SX races on tv, and it was just a given that MC was gonna win Lol

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the reason why you remember him is because he was great. With the tracks today, where it is basically your turn to win because 12 guys have the track wired, (OK, Ferrandis is a slight stand out, but it can't be by much more than .2 seconds a lap),------I bet you can't remember who won last years championship. Why? It does not make an impression on your brain the way true greatness does. I have been into this sport since a kid in 76, and I don't remember anything but greatness,---that ended with Villapoto.

  • @DisasterTheoryX

    1996 was his best year for SX.

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I made up a saying that I think is true for the last 4 generations, 120 years, at least:
      "We are all born into the USA today, not having a clue how great she was yesterday."
      Evidently you have not seen many great years of the sport, before you knew what it was.
      But if you were to say, "There will never be as good of a SX series as 1996.", I would probably agree with that.
      What we will never see again, is one or two guys who are absolutely great. Because tracks that keep us all the same speed only caters to a fast average.
      Some say they like to see 10 guys all taking turns winning, (which can only happen if the tracks are not challenging enough), but what good is that? I got into this sport because I love to see an individual dominate,---so we can all get faster. The racing today is more like a fast parade, than a test to see who has the most skill.

    Honda needs to realize they could single handedly bring back 2 stroke pro motocross simply with the CR250. The bike is phenomenal! The rules of the AMA have to be changed back and also they need to be fair. If you race a 250 then you race the 250 class whether it be a 2 or 4 stroke. If the 4 strokes loose that just further proves they are slower and can’t compete. As far as the EPA goes they are not involved because KTM,Yamaha and Husky still make a 2 stroke. We need to stir up and even cause conflict in pro motocross which will attract a lot of attention to the sport and changing this ruling will do it. Honda is loosing multi millions by not having these 2 strokes out there including the 80,125 & 250. The time is now and it’s going to take someone like Honda to stand up and fight back and change these rules. The 4 strokes can still be sold and used for off road and the woods which they are great for. This entire 4 stroke thing has just been sad for the sport and silly. I have had kids in my shop and they like to hear the bikes run because it’s exciting and it’s always the 2 strokes they want to hear as well as letting them rip the throttle a few times. The reason this is so important is we have to teach our youth. Motocross came from a very tough blue collar background yet the only ones that can afford them now are the wealthy and upper middle class so that means our best riders are not even out there racing. This has to be changed. We need the Bob Hannahs, Rick Johnson’s and Jeff Wards back on the track fighting it out. We need to hear the loud screams from the bikes in the turns.

    If it wasn't for 97 he would of been in low to mid 80's for supercross premier wins. That Suzuki just didn't fit him snd had multiple mechanicals, if it wasn't for those and a few crashes I still think he could of pulled the title even having a terrible year.

I never respected him until he won his 95 outdoor title .I guess it was his career an who noes he coulda wound up like Rick Johnson an got his career cut short clause the speed outdoors in those days on the those outdoor tracks one them rockets was insane.dam 4 stroke bikes has absolutely destroyed motocross period

  • @yamahakid450f
    @yamahakid450f 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    After he left Honda they didn't win another premier class title until RC, and now they haven't won since RC in 04 outdoors and 2002 in supercross... that's 20 years for the Honda powerhouse... NO ONE would of ever thought or predicted that slump, it's sad to see. I call it the RC curse, they didn't give him the deal he wanted for 05 because they wanted Stewart and RC clapped back on suzuki (a career ender at the time) and won 2 more years, bad choice Honda. Suzuki developed the engine and chassis on Yamaha in 2005 for RC, it was such a great bike and the first year and the 06 RMZ did very well for him it never blew up in a race (rare in those early days) and handled well for him..m Suzukis were always known for their cornering ability even in stock trim.
    Him rolling up on a full factory Makita Suzuki for step up at xgames was so sick, he won a couple times but if it wasn't for a couple crashes he would of won every event he entered in step up, that bike had so much drive combined with his start ability and prevent wheel spin on the face, he cleared the bar by feet every time.

      It’s debatable. No doubt MC is the King indoors, but RC was the one to take the king down and go on a pretty epic run himself in Supercross. What separates the two is RC was just as dominant outdoors (2 perfect seasons), whereas MC was more of a one-trick pony and wasn’t really as much of a force in MX.

    Hate to say this but if you honestly look at it JM was only fast against lesser competitors as soon as new talent started to show up he faded away his early career he was racing aging vets mostly. He got a big head after that early success and his hardest competition in his early and mid career was Jeff Emig really until RC moved up to 250. Ricky blew him away then Jeremy pretty much faded into a guy who gave up as soon as a few guys passed him. He knew he couldn’t compete with the new crop of riders in the later 90s and early 00s and didn’t want to try he still got hole shots but was always quickly passed up.

Yamahas are the only way to go if ur a privateer. Steel frame hondas are a totally different story though. I have a 1995 cr250, 2020 yz450f and i just bought the 2022 yz250x 2 stroke which is just, its just the best motorcycle ever made. The honda is just a stand and sand queen. But its so fun to ride.
