For those interested, there's a cheeky joke on the sign on the start of the video that I can translate: "Station Jan Mayen "Theory is when you understand everything, but nothing works Practice is when everything works but nobody understands why At this station, we unite theory and practice such that nothing works and nobody understands why." Pretty funny!
Now why can't something like this go viral? That was absolutely breathtaking. Places like that remind me that there is beauty still left in this world.
Hello, I was browsing on Google maps at 3 in the morning and when I found your island I was fascinated and I was forced to look for more near it, it is incredible the amount of beautiful places that there are in the world and this is one of them, I hope to go some day with my mother and my brother to contemplate such a wonderful landscape, I hope you understand me I do not have very good English since I am from a country in South America called Colombia, I also managed to observe that in the time lapse of the 3 minute : 03 There are two wolves or I think, is it usual to see wolves there? Greetings from the other part of the world
Hi there. Glad you liked the place. There are no animals living on this island, except from sea birds and the two dogs owned by the Norwegian Metrological Institute. Hope you get the chance to go with your family some day.
I have to confess I know a fair amount of geography, and wacky places like this interest me thousands of times more than popular beech resorts, or adventure parks. The video from Beerenburg was outstanding. Jan Mayan looked so much larger on the video than on the map.
I have set foot on Jan Mayen in May 2016 with MS Fram at Olonkin City. This video opens up much more of the island including the volcano Beerenberg. Wonderful to watch - congratulations.
Thank you very much by showing us this. Last Year I went with a Small cruisship from Ysland to Svalbard Passage Jan Mayen. It was for me the 2e time and I always was interesting if there was Life on That Island. Mount Beerenberg was in clouds, but surtenly there came a breaktrue and she showed herself in such a beauty, and the longer It took the more clouds disapears. She is a lovely mysterical Lady.
@@studio-1187 I was the Station Commander on Jan Mayen from April to October 2018. There is a lot of tourists comming to the island during the summer. They are comming on cruise ships. Check out which cruiseline that is sailing on Jan Mayen next year.
I've had a borderline obsession with this island ever since I was a kid and I found it on google earth, lol. My dream is go there, but I'm not really sure how one would go about getting there :/
the amazing thing about your language is that without actually understanding exactly what you're saying, I unterstand though! love norwegian. soon gonna learn your wonderful language. best regards from germany :*
fantastic drone footage, majestic scenery. i hope u get an award for this. always been interested in svalbard and jan mayen islands. for pure cinematography this is by the best yet, well done, a work of art!
When i saw this island on the map im so shocked because there's something on earth like my name mayen and its very beautiful place i want to go there in tge future
Absolutely Beautiful !! Talk about isolated though. That one place ( camper or self made shack) under that rock shelf was interesting. Does someone still live there? Maybe it's someone's summer camp.So many thoughts going thru my mind watching that. For one, thank god for helicopters ! And where or how would you find a snickers bar, or a bar, or batteries or anything! Man you have to be super prepared before you even get on a plane to get there wow. If they even have an airport. I read there are some more people there. I wanna say 2500 or thousand but I guess that's some where else. Haha. I back pack all over Wyoming, Utah and am a whitewater rafting guide in the Adirondacks in the summer but man I got to know there is something somewhere. But that's ok, because now, thanks to your video I feel like I visited it a bit and also know where to go if I want to die absolutely alone with no chance to be found. Just kidding. I do wonder about the fishing. Seems like whatever you could catch would be gigantic. Oh and that drone got some major altitude. Outstanding quality video and the time-lapse was super cool!! ^|^ Thank you for that. Wonderful !!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. There are only 18 people living on the island working for the Norwegian Cyber Defence and for the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
i was just playing with Google Maps and I found this Island I had never heard of, Jan Mayen... so I looked further to see what it was like and your video footage is amazing!! Could you please tell me the name of the music as it is so dramatic ? What a beautiful place... I have Norwegian relatives from Tonsberg so will be asking them if they have heard of this place :) Thank you
Hi Mike. Thank you so much. I totally agree, Jan Mayen is a beautiful and a unique place. Music: Really slow motion Music with Suns and stars, Two steps from hell with Heart of courage and Cassandra. PS: Not many norwegians have heard about this island, even though this is a norwegian island...
@@arteest103 Iceland has trees, as the climate is not extremely cold. th-cam.com/video/bl_0NHZk-0k/w-d-xo.html Jan Mayen has no trees, the growing season is too short.
I am glad I got to spend 6 months as a Station commander on this beautiful island in 2018. The island is unique. I really miss Jan Mayen.
Is there people live or its for government
Så du var en av de Alle mot 1 spillerne på NRK programmet, som gjorde at Jan Mayen alltid kom høyest på beste landsdel? 🤔
@@smiizz99 its a government research facility no one permanently lives there
@jacavanheesch4593 thanks for answering ❤

I am so used to this principle in my life that I didnt realise it was a joke. Just pretty routine for me.
Thank you for this funny Joke. I have written It down, and wil put this under my picture from Mount Beerenberg.
I think you meant "cheesy" joke.

Thank you, Marissa. Glad you liked this unique place on earth.
I hope those places never go viral, people who search for peace will find it rather than getting it suggested by google.

Thank you. The island is quite small, but still rich on outdoor adventures and experiences.
That is the truth…that long peninsula appears longer in person near sea level. This island reminds me of Heard Island, Australia.
Breathtaking images of a remote island extremely well shot and matched with the most banal audio track imaginable.
Lol

Hey, I would love to make an educational video about this place. Could I have permission to use your shots? Happy to credit :)
Today I was exploring map and saw a dot alike thing and zoomed in and was amazed now I'm here almost dead❤️
I am from Indonesia, accidentally saw this island on a map and I was very curious to see what it looks like
The producer has used famous music what named it?
Nice footage, but I did find the music a bit overwhelming. The pictures speak for themselves.
Yea, it started with a bang and then it started feeling like a thriller action movie. Still great work
Wow, fantastic! What drone are you flying?
Thank you. We are using the DJI phantom pro4 drone and canon 6D camera.
Fantatisk flott video. Måtte se den flere ganger. Hva har du filmet den med?
Jeg har filmet med DJI Phantom 4 Pro og timelaps med Canon 6D.
