    Sufferfest is putting it mildly, wow! You were not whining by any means, you did awesome considering you had to push a bike through that mess. That lake campsite was a nice reward though, thank heavens you reached it. :) Thanks for taking the time and energy to film and share. :) :)

      Glad you liked it. The day was certainly a challenge. I'm surprised I took the time to film it considering all I thought about was if I was going to bail on the trip. Next few days were all tough.

    I've had my share of bushwhacking but this was something else. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

      Lol. The bike definitely added to the challenge, and at one point really had to mentally push myself to get through. The uncertainty of how much further it was going to last for was an additional worry. But alas, an opening...more adventure to come.

    Try not to be too disappointed in me :) Every time I watch one of you bikepacking videos it makes me want to do a bikepacking trip again! Even today's adventures for you made me want to get out there to experience them myself. It looked like that bushwhack road had been abandoned for quite some time. Thanks for sharing! :)

      The suffering is part of bikepacking trips like this. Gotta just push through it.

      Each day has its own set of challenges. It's like the trip was begging for a mini-series.😂😂😂

    Insane! Aside from the fact it would take a lot longer, how do you think it would compare to simply turn this into a hiking trip to avoid 'bike-crashing' through all that overgrowth?

    • @Suluk46
      @Suluk46  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have actually already thought about it :) But you would be in for some very big hiking days. In this video (day 3) I probably only covered something like 10 km all day, but the day before was something like 120 km. And in the next video (day 4) around 65 km. Biking the logging roads is fun, ripping through the forests with a few vistas is a blast, but walking them for days may prove a tad bland - not saying it can't be done or that I won't eventually do it, but for every 1 km of overgrowth there is 25 km in clear roads and paths that can be ridden (pending you don't get lost like I did on day 1). The final route is somewhere around 400 km so hiking it would take ~20 days, give or take a few. I see this trip as developmental in nature. I planned the route based on scouting missions and well over a year or so of research. I reached out to locals, the community, the park, and the logging company. I had multiple maps, work schedules, projected work areas, and some top secret intel. I had to adjust the route a couple of times throughout the trip but not by much, and since releasing the videos plenty of people have reached out to assist in the Day 1 fiasco, it is now clear how to get through that crown land section, I just got turned around because I am a bozo. So if someone wanted to give it a try after me, and correct my errors, I would certainly help them as much as I can. I plan on doing 1 final video after all the episodes have aired and will just discuss challenges, different routes, improvements, basically outline as much as I can to help out whoever is next in line. I kept it a secret until after I completed the trip, no one really knew except for a few friends that I was out there, as I've had some pushback from people who aren't happy about it, and wasn't sure if the consensus would be it is "Swifty" approved. I'll reach out to Gord at some point and get his view, would be cool to add a stop in the trip to have that famous beverage in perhaps an area that he also favorited, which would be accessible from land.

      @@Suluk46 cool! Thanks for the great response! Looking forward to the rest of the series and the wrap-up for sure. I was thinking you could add in side-hikes and swims to reach the Swifty site and Camp Pathfinder. 😂

      You know, that's not a bad idea. Let's see who wants to take on the challenge next. Maybe we rejig the route to add those in. I do alot of packrafting, so bringing something like that would be straight forward.

      Ladies and gentlemen, after years of pressure, Dave C has finally commented on one of my videos. Put your hands together for this momentous occasion. Dave is a huge fan of the Miksa pot lifter and wishes he could be given the credit for its design. If you'd like to see Dave in action, feel free to peruse some of my mountain bike videos. Hooray for Dave!
