Philips in general is underated particularly by Americans . Back in the day they invented the compact disc and cassette . And made some excellent CD players
Your review is spot on . Love these headphones

I think Philips is underrated as an audio company in quite a few countries. I think it's because in the 90's and early 2000's they put out some very average and cheap radios and mini systems which were popular but certainly didn't help their reputation. When they put their mind to it though they make some great gear. I have an old Philips surround system where the satellite speakers have neodymium ribbon tweeters and the sound is incredible. It was high-end at the time but worth every cent because it still sounds good 20+ years later.
It is a shame they're underrated but it's also good that they haven't morphed into an ultra high-end, unaffordable luxury brand as well which they could easily have done.

    I tried the HD6XX, HD58x, Sundara, AKG K712 Pro, SHP9600 and PC38x.
Honestly Idon’t agree with the audiophiles on reddit saying The X2HR is inferior, I think it’s entirely subjective and I find the X2HR to be best sounding headphones I listened to out of all of them, followed by HD58x. Unfortunately I returned the Fidelio’s for their size but I’m trying to find them on sale again lol.

I just got a brand new x1s for about $85 and they should be arriving soon, I bought them for the purpose of listening to hip-hop and rap as well as to be used for single player gaming and movies. After watching this video, I believe I made the right choice since the x2hrs are close to double the price at $150. Very helpful review, you deserve more subs. :)

I recently bought a pair of HD599s after some discussion from a friend and wanting to "get into" the audiophile space, but found the shape of the cups for thsoe really uncomfortable personally. I then read about the X2HRs and they are perfect for my head size and ear shape, whilst sounding really nice and being very comfortable. I would highly recommend them to anybody.

They're a great pair of headphones, I really enjoy them, and while I still use them on occasion I primarily use HD 58x. Not really sure why I enjoy the 58x's more, the music I listen too tends to have some mids the x2hr mostly avoid due to the v shape curve I believe.
It's hard to beat the x2hr for what they are their amazing, their resale value is kinda low, and can be had used for $80-ish USD. Honestly believe they are probably the best headphones you can buy for under $100 if you are ok with used, the value is amazing, had a blast with them.

Just be careful putting these down on the desk. After about a year of use I put them down yesterday a bit hard and one of the plastic pins securing the right ear cup sheered clean off. Thankfully Amazon is sending me a new replacement today. Love these headphones for gaming and music through a Fosi Audio Q4 DAC/AMP.

I returned the 6XX. They are dull and lifeless. No soundstage or imaging. VERY Overrated if you ask me. The Fidelio actually has flat bass response from the mid bass up. Low bass is of course not so great being open back, yet still stronger than most. The mids are dead on neutral as well. I do not know why everyone says these are V shaped. They are not. They are flat all the way to treble and then have some errors, but still accurate response overall. I am keeping my Phillips forever. Great for gaming and music. Especially classic rock. The 6XX was awful for Rock music. No punch at all.

I find the association of 'audiophile' with neutral tonal presentation tendentious. Why is tonal balance more important when it comes to audio appreciation than soundstage, clarity, or impact?
I own the 560s and the Fidelio X1, and I prefer the latter. I find the former boring, relatively narrow, lacking the musical richness of the 6xx or the fun width of the X1. The Fidelios are much more enjoyable for many genres of music reliant on heavy bass delivery and openness, and for immersive games and movies as well. They are also better built, cheaper, and easy to drive.

I don't have a pair of X3 so I can't directly compare them. But, from other reviews the sound signature is somewhat different to the X2HR, The X3 is described to be more subdued in the bass and brighter in the treble (some have even described it as being borderline sibilant). If it were me I would still give it a pass compared to the $115 X2HR

@@dsshowandtell995 Hey there, I have a SoundblasterX G6 and I wanted a great pair of all-round headphones to pair it with. I'm extremely confused between the Fidelio X2HR and TYGR 300R, I don't know which one to choose so I was hoping that you could help me.
      Here are my requirements:
First of all, I don't care about competitive gaming (multiplayer/online fps) at all.
I only play single player, story-based games (like God of War, Red Dead 2 etc) and I also like watching movies as well.
So basically, what I'm looking for is *IMMERSION* above all else.
      Any advice?

    • @dsshowandtell995
      @dsshowandtell995  2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@princesmith8008 Most people would rate the TYGR as the better headphone being more detailed and technically proficient. You get the deeper bass and wider soundstage on the X2HR's. Both would do you fine, I believe the X2HR's are going to be more immersive which is great for what you are looking for, but the TYGR is going to come ahead in other areas. My advice is that if you're still on the fence, Amazon has an amazing returns policy so you could really test out both if you had to.
