The first mistake the opponent is doing is having his arm around the neck. This entire move depends on him having his side exposed without the underhook. Otherwise, you'd have to look for something else other than the back take.

At first I was like 'that's not realistic at all???' unless this is the counter to the pretzl pass where you hug your opponent's head and swing up and over them, most closed guard breaks require you to build posture. No one with any experience is going to be lying down on top of you like that.
BUT... then I re-watched this a few times. Push his far leg with your bottom leg, use your top leg to keep him down... very interesting, thanks! I think I'm going to have to think about this one for a while...

How do you get your right leg out from under his body weight?

Most people are not going to just lay on their belly. They're going to try to regain posture; the right leg turns into a control hook

Easier said than done, I’d say! Great technique in theory but what if your leg is still pinned underneath the opponent?

then you are not on closed guard? you mean half guard?

Yea, if you are in guard , how can your leg be pined? And if you are not in CG then this isn't the technique.

@@jonatanschonfeld7693 no, he means the bottom leg when you start from closed guard. Akins' right leg here.
@slamminbassplayer see how Akins pushes with his right hand on the mat at the end? You need base (via the mat or a grip good enough to push off) on that same side hand, will help in pulling the leg through

Well I assume that your opponent isn't going to just go belly down (which WOULD stop the backtake), because as you say it'll trap the leg. I'd say that 99% of the time people are going to try and build their base back up so you'll have that space to bring the leg out.
