Great video - Yes the X1001 is brilliant. Last summer I replaced my Atom based home webserver with one of these contraptions. It took ten minutes to get it up and running. It haven't even blinked once - I am very impressed.

Good Video 😀I have a compute module 5 dev kit which is basically a pi 5 with a nvme m.2 slot already integrated in to it. It is for sure a LOT faster then a MicroSD card and a lot more reliable. I actually use it for a mini home lab running different software with a nice UI on top of ras pi lite called CasaOS. It makes it easy to run docker containers on it which makes it easy to install dockers apps like plex, pi hole, home assistant, ESPHome and many others. I have a sata to USB drive chassis which allows RAID and several hard drives to be installed.

RAID was my next experiment. I have a synology NAS but I’d love to have a totally NVME based resident storage pool that runs on like 4 watts or whatever. It’s amazing.

I would love to see a video on putting one of these together and setting it up. Would be a perfect gift for family members who don't have room for a full computer that would need it just for basic internet usage.

@@MostlyTechReviews Awesome. Thanks! Would be great to build a couple for my Grandma and mother who dont have room for a normal computer. Your videos so far are pretty good. I like that you are direct about your thoughts and show us what you are talking about.

The only thing that came up, and it only came up the first two times for some reason is that the pi would boot into a screen that asked me to choose which disk to boot to, even though I only had the nvme connected and no microsd card. But after the second time it did that, now it just boots up straight to the nvme and OH MAN it changes the whole computer! That microsd was definitely a pretty big bottleneck.
