Oh. My. God. I think I want to go back to bed and start today over again. Fourth upload is the charm. Every time we tweaked this video Adobe Premiere has some kind of insane hissy-fit and caused something else to go wrong. UGH.

THAT, right there, is why I gave up on Premiere. Crashes, crashes, stutters, crashes...
When I built this computer specifically for video editing at home for a TV Station, I put on Davinci Resolve, and never looked back.
The only crashes I've had are all OS related (total of 2 in almost a year).
Plus it renders in 75% of the time Premeire took. And at a total cost of $0USD, I'm saving money every time I use it...

Carl Wilson Davinci is the one that crashes on my PC, plus its interface very different from Premiere and FCPX. As long as it doesn’t crash for you, 👍🏼.

I'm very Happy with my 2019 Genesis G70 purchase .
Over 39k miles in 16 months of ownership and no problems.
As Alex stated, the 2021 model year is going to cost more.
My Genesis G70 is my personal vehicle. I don't carry passengers or a lot of cargo.
If I need to carry passengers or cargo, I have 2 other vehicles for that.
98% of the time, I'm in it by myself, Occasionally my wife will join me.
Because I'm on the freeway a lot, I appreciate the spare tire.
For me, that was a deal breaker on other vehicles that I test drove.
When I test drove the BMW and Mercedes (2019 model year), I didn't get any enjoyment from them . Even though I was in a new vehicle, it felt old. Maybe because the body style hasn't really changed in 5 years.
Especially the interior of the BMW.
Audi, a beautiful car, unfortunately it doesn't come with rear wheel drive only.
I'm very Happy with my Genesis G70!
I'm not a brand snob, because I'm not, I have a Beautiful car, and a Wonderful driving experience everytime I'm on the road.
I'm not one of those guys, when stopped at a stop sign, is looking around to see if anyone is looking at my German car.
It's how my Genesis G70 makes me feel.
    I feel GREAT!

@@mrsj1417 actually it was 39k miles, but now it's over 40k miles.
I live in Southern California, I'm a commuter. A minimum of 100 miles per day.
      And I don't Baby my Baby !
The only thing that I won't do, and that is race. I love to drive fast, but I will not risk my life racing.
Plenty of people have tried to goat me into racing, but life is already too short, why risk making it shorter.

I leased a 2020 G70 3.3t Prestige, I traded in a 2017 Lexus IS200t, the difference in power is night and day, that was my main reason for the switch.
I pay 30 more a month for payment and 8 dollars more a month for insurance.
Connected services are included with G70. I paid 17 a month for Lexus connected services.
Lexus dealer experience is much better BUT I don’t plan on visiting the dealer often since G70 has valet.
Overall I am very impressed with the G70, you get a lot for your money. The Lexus is better built overall, it felt more solid but not my much, this is obviously “first world problem”
If you are car shopping, do yourself a favor and drive the G70.
I got quotes for S4, M340i, c43 and they were all very pricey. C43 maintance package was 3k alone, insane. G70 has mainteance included for 36months.
G70 was very budget friendly compared to the others I mentioned. What I really wanted was the 365HP which puts a smile on my face every time
I drive it. It’s faster than 80% of cars out on the road and if you really need to have more power, add that JB4.

Having owned Mercedes E class, BMW 3 series, Volvo, and Audi S4 in the past (still have an Audi A6), and currently owning a Genesis G90, I would choose the G70 over the competition. The value, reduced maintenance costs, and and increased reliability I’ve experienced with Genesis makes any other decision a frivolous one. While I still love the other brands for the unique yet subtle characteristics that come with them, there’s simply not enough sensory nor “seat of the pants” difference FOR ME to justify spending $5000 to $15,000 more for essentially the same experience - specialty model’s notwithstanding.

I have a G70 3.3T Elite. Best car ever owned and I get compliments on it all the time. Casablanca white with tinted windows, red Brembo brakes and it looks extremely sharp. Very nice powerful ride and very quite. No one mentioned the stereo/sound system which is awesome. It also has nice nighttime puddle lights, lighted door handles, folding mirrors, ventilated and heated seats, drivers adjustable seat bolster and the seat retracts when you get in and out, headlamps that turn with the steering wheel, self leveling headlights and tons of other features that are all significant cost extras on other brands. Yes, small back seat and truck but It is not a "family" car. I consider it a luxury performance car. Yes it is the best car around that no one has ever heard of. Poor marketing by Genesis. Not one issue in a year of driving and averaging 21.6 MPG average.

I had a '14 Q50 3.7 awd and now I have the '19 Q50RS 3.0t but my next car is gonna be the refreshed 2022 Genesis G70 3.3t which is the Best in segment in my opinion, all they need is a performance version to battle AMG, RS, Polestar, etc.... Hi Alex. Thanks for the in depth review of the G70. I ended up buying a 2023 3.3 Sport Prestige a few weeks ago. I would say I preferred it over the German competition for some abstract reasons. One, the "all touch screens, all the time" approach that Mercedes and BMW have adopted was a total turn-off for me. Especially after BMW went even MORE touchscreen with their mid-cycle refresh of the M340i. Seems like this is a risk with Audi also, given what VW has done with the user interface of the current GTI. Two, since I prefer buying over leasing, I did not want to get stuck with German brand repair and maintenance costs once the car is out of warranty. Three, the G70 keeps getting described as similar to previous generation BMWs as far as its driving dynamics go. Four, I prefer the exterior styling of the G70 over that of the Germans, and you won't see yourself coming and going, since nobody is buying them. :D :D :D. Five, I have no brand loyalty toward the German makes, since the closest I've ever come to driving a German luxury car is a GTI and a Jetta. So, I don't have an actual driving experience in a German luxury brand, so I have no idea what I'm missing, other than the infuriating user interfaces. :D :D :D

I'm in Canada, so before I start realize that. When I tried to get a G70 and G80 I got shafted by a bad dealer experience. But the entire value proposition goes out the window when you factor in incentives. I lease. The Genesis does not make a good lease. You can usually get a better lease on other brands like BMW and Audi. When I was shopping, the Germans gave me more for my trade, had better residuals, incentives, and the lease payment dropped considerably compared to the Genesis who didn't want to negotiate and suddenly the "value" was gone. I also had maintenance plans tossed in for apples to apples. Now, I can't get BMW/Audi serviced where I live so I tried to go the Genesis/Hyundai route, but that didn't work out at all. They sold the car said I wanted to someone else 30 mins after I said I wanted it. We left for lunch expecting to come back and sign papers. I gave 2 months notice I was coming, and drove to another province to test drive the two cars.

Love the comparisons, I'm definately getting one of these 2020s, but I'm going to wait until they're 3 years old and will be looking for a used one around 35k miles. The interesting thing about the G70s value proposition compared to the 330 is that it goes away for used versions. A 2-3 year old used 330 with similar features and in similar condition is cheaper than the same year of a G70. So, if you're buying used the BMW seems like the no brainer unless you want to put keep it forever, then the IS may be the more reliable long term option. But, if you want to buy a 3 year old luxury sports sedan, keep it for 5 years, then sell it the 330 seems like the way to go.

Obtained the G70 3.3T after three BMWs over the past decade or so (BMW 530i, 530Xi & 440Xi Gran Coupé, interspersed with the Cadillac CTS ). Overall it has more “extras”, better steering feel, the adaptive suspension is much more compliant and comfortable than the BMWs, better and lower cost service and warranty, improved safety features - and of course much lower price. I’m going to stick with it!

@Shinidoshi that's why we don't have French cars in the US anymore. When they break they break for good and eventually break your wallet too by trying to fix them. Nissan has always been one of the least reliable Japanese manufacturers. However, after acquisition by Renault things got even worse for Nissan. Their so called "luxury" division Infiniti will probably get shut down eventually. At least they can try to save their parent company Nissan, that way their name won't become a history.

I have to say that I've owned every trim level of the G80 so far and I just tried a G70 yesterday. I was very underwhelmed with the seat comfort. The padding was much, much too firm, and this was a used one with 20k miles on it. It's a shame because every other aspect of the car was what I was looking for. I just couldn't see myself being in this for my +10 hour road trips and remaining comfortable.

  • @paulsnyder851
    @paulsnyder851 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Love the overall shape and stance of the G70. The grill & backend as well. But for my taste they added too many extra bits to the exterior. So close to being clean but crosses the line in to the overdone. The big wing logo and especially those boomerang chrome side things. I still like it better than most, just because it's new and different. And clearly it has a lot going for it other than it's exterior. The backseat is tighter than Alex let on, I think. I'm his size and sat in back in one. Not much legroom. Really handles shockingly well for a Korean car though. Its hard to believe , but for the class only the Giulia and the 3 series are better, and not by much. Not sure how they were able to leapfrog over Lexus & Infiniti in driving dynamics but in my opinion they clearly have, so amazing job there. I prefer the infotainment in the 3 series. The G70 interior is nearly on par though. Nice materials. Most of the others, especially the Benz, are more comfortable inside, I think. The G70 is quite low to the ground. I think this is what surprised me the most when I first saw one in person, how low the roofline was, even though the size & shape are similar to the Benz. More like a sports car than a typical luxury sedan. Some may like this though. There's enough headroom in front, because the seating position is also low. But I wouldn't get this if you have a driveway with a sharp angle. Or if you have trouble getting in and out of low cars. When I opened the backdoor and just sat on the edge of the back seat, with my legs sticking out the backdooor, the roofline came to the base of my neck. That's how low it is. Yes, I could duck my head and get in back, but from outside the roof is quite low and the backdoor opening fairly small. It's almost as if it were meant to be a coupe.

Seems like really good value for features and performance. In Canada we can get the G70 3.3T in RWD or AWD. Another similar car I am considering is the Cadillac CT5-V 3.0TT Sport. It costs a little bit more and is not quite as fast, but it has a bit more sophistication and in Canada at least, has 4 years of maintenance and 6-year powertrain warranty included. Another advantage the Cadillac has is a vastly larger dealer network. I do like the Mercedes C43 AMG, but it is more expensive again and the required after-sales regular maintenance is VERY expensive.

Like you mentioned the maintenance package on c43 is insane, I was quoted 3k for mainteance alone. I ended up with G70, it truly is great for the money and the 3.3tt is more than most people need. I'm somewhat surprised that Genesis didn't shift to the new 2.5L and 3.5L turbo engines for the 2021 G70 as they have for the G80 and GV80. That, I assume, is planned for 2022. Considering that the 2.5L turbo is an option in the Hyundai Sonata and KIA K5 performance models as well as in the KIA Sorento for 2021 and most puzzling as the base engine in the KIA Stinger, that's something of a disappointment.

  • @Jacobk66

Looked at this car very seriously against the 330i, C300 and Audi A4/A5 this spring. It’s a nice car that has a lot of power for the money. It’s interior just felt a little snug and not as premium as the others. I also don’t think the exterior looks that good. Lots of different styling that sort of makes it look like a knockoff. Ended up with the A5 Sportback because it just looks and felt the more premium. Ended up being quite a bit less (leftover 2019) and although a 4 cylinder, Audi makes a great 2.0T.

    • @trendmonger83
      @trendmonger83 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

I previously owned a 2018 A4, which I traded in for a G70 3.3T Sport this year, and while I agree Audi's 2.0T is excellent and maybe the best 2.0T on the market (or was when I bought it), I strongly disagree about the idea of it feeling more premium. I got the top-end trim with every bell and whistle on the A4 and while some parts were nicer than the Genesis interior, the Genesis interior also blows away the A4's interior in other areas: Specifically, the alcantara trimmed roofliner is nicer than the A4's standard cloth, the diamond quilted leather seats and door panel and contrast stitching dash trim is nicer, the lexicon audio system utterly destroys Audi's B&O system (at least to my ears), and has more attractive metal grates than the Audi's plastic ones. Seats have far more adjustable settings, and while the thigh bolsters and tilt steering and trunk on the A4 were all manual, on the Genesis they are all electric. I also on my A4, had constant complaints of creaking panels, vibration feedback on the speakers, and other annoying noises that I spent over a year trying to get resolved by the dealerships. So far I have had none of that on my Genesis. Overall I can't endorse this car to people enough, it absolutely holds a candle in terms of premium feel, fit and finish, to its German luxury rivals. I do agree with complaints about the trunk size and back seat however. This is not a family car. But it is perfectly fine for a single person or a couple, who may occasionally want to have an extra passenger or two for short trips around the city. It certainly couldn't beat the A5 Sportback for practicality. I love that hatch.

I'm 6' 1" and I cannot sit behind myself in the G70. Well, I can physically pry myself in and out, but I wouldn't want to travel anywhere for any amount of time. I *do* however love the vehicle. The Stinger has more room in the back seat but it's not a luxurious amount of room by any means.
Apparently the 2021 Stinger will have the 2.5 L turbo but not the 3.5 L turbo. My understanding is that the 2.5 & 3.5 engines are designed for better fuel economy and emissions. That sure would be great, but apparently no Kia wil be getting the 3.5 V6 twin turbo for 2021.
