Crazzy Batou is an easter egg to Daggerfall. In Daggerfall the King of Worms was a very important character and one of the people you could side with at the end of the game. Crazy Batou is marked as essential because he's the current King of Worms (The clue is that he's wearing the Bloodworm Helm). The original King of Worms used the Mantella to achieve godhood but because all endings of Daggerfall occurred simultaneously (Warp in the West/ Dragon Break) their has to be a King of Worms.

So I've learned something really interesting about the lore... Volendrung is the namesake for the province of Hammerfell - an ancient Dwemer King named Rourken got so annoyed about Nerevar's alliance with the other Dwemer clans in Morrowind, that he threw Volendrung into the sky out of sheer anger and vowed to guide his clan wherever it landed. The dwarves dubbed the impact site "Volunfell" and the human settlers who arrived afterward translated it to "Hammerfell".

It's a Daggerfall easter egg. He's wearing the Bloodworm Helmet which means he took over as King of Worms after Mannimarco became a god. He's essential because someone needs to be the King of Worms to prevent reality from collapsing.
One thing a lot of people miss is that Corprus doesn't only make you immune to other diseases but also prevents you from aging. As of the end of this part, your character now cannot get sick and also cannot die of old age. Which I believe makes this the only elders scrolls MC which can feasibly reappear at any time in the series. As for why the nerevarine isn't around anymore I believe they went on a journey to the continent of... something. Wherever the Red Guard's are supposed to have come from. Or something like that.
I heard from somewhere that the Nerevarine went to Akavir, which sounds pretty interesting to me. It makes sense that Corprus stops aging, or else there wouldn’t be a living Dwemer… which is freaking crazy to me. I always thought he would have lost his marbles with how much time has passed, but overall I’d say he’s pretty well adjusted 🤓
the Nerevarine actually went to Akavir which is to the east and has snake people and is the source of all the katanas and the Blades because the Akiviri invaded tamriel once. Yokuda(ancient home of the Yokudans who became the redguards) is the the west of tamriel and is a magically destroyed continent.
Cuirass of the Saviours Hide! That takes me back. Resist magic 60%, boy, that could be useful when combined with other items with unwanted magical effects!
As for Divayth Fyr - he might as well not know and not care that Telvanni say he is one of them, he was already old during the time when Trbunal, Nerevar and Dagoth Ur were regular mortals. Or he might even be one of the chimer that founded house Telvanni thousands of years ago for all we know.
I wonder if John will notice that the buffs in strength and endurance did not go away. Taking a bit to get cured is actually good for you. The cure only gets rid of the negative stuff.
The world is doomed and only a prophesied hero can save it? That can wait. There’s ancient tomes to translate and an archaeological mystery to uncover? We must start immediately!! Oh Jon, never change.
He's an easter egg from Daggerfall. The clue is that he's wearing the Bloodworm Helm. After Mannimarco became a god someone had to become the King of Worms because both realities of Mannimarco receiving the Mantella and becoming a god and someone else receiving the Mantella need to be valid at the same time so someone had to take over as the King of Worms to prevent reality from collapsing. Crazy Batou isn't essential for the main quest he's essential because killing him would create a paradox.
Dwemer Language Lesseon! Previously, I explained Nchuleft as "Dedicated Farm", and Nchuleftingth is obviously an extension of that. "-ingth" is a suffix used as the English prefix "New" (see: New York), so it would translate to "New Dedicated Farm." This likely indicates that it was the main stronghold for a new type of resource gathering, be it a new material or new extraction method.
Unfortunately, in Morrowind, there are a handful of bad "Essential" tags. Sometimes essential NPCs will die without the player doing anything (IE they fell out of the world) and you'll get that message out of the blue and you'll never know which of the flagged NPCs died.
Realistically the only essential character in the game is Yagrum Bagarn. So long as he's alive - main quest can be completed, though in a way that skips a chunk of the plot and is not immediately obvious to first time players.
There is a unique weapon which you can only obtain by using the Daedric Sanctuary amulet. The weapon is (in Elder Scrolls lore) illegal to own it as it was created by Mehrunes Dagon for his troops...which is why it's been hidden away in the sanctuary. Also, should you decide you need better armor: Divayth Fyr is wearing an almost-complete set of daedric armor (no helmet, obviously). It's the only place in the game where you can get all those pieces at once...but you need to kill him to get it.
Incorrect, you keep the physical increases, but the mental densities can be restored (the "symptoms" of the disease) - there are guides saying to sleep at fyr's feet so you can boost your stats as far as you can, and walk away laughing
the buffs from corprus are permanent even though the debuffs are not... You could have gotten your strength and endurance EXTREMELY high by just using a shrine to restore attributes every once in awhile! I had an all legit character with 1000 strength and endurance 20 years ago. If I dropped all gear and was on flat land I could jump high enough to hurt myself lol

Sees title... Knows.
[edit]
Hah! That is actually the one person wrongly flagged as an 'essential' PC. 😂Well better safe than sorry, iirc the rest of the them are correct.
We Know
It's a Daggerfall easter egg. He's wearing the Bloodworm Helmet which means he took over as King of Worms after Mannimarco became a god. He's essential because someone needs to be the King of Worms to prevent reality from collapsing.
"I have this disease which is time sensitive. Allow me to take the longest possible route to curing it!"
No title has struck more dread in my heart.
*looks at title*
Oh boy who did Jon kill?
Jon that magic resist armor works wonders with those boots of blinding speed
Excellent timing, just got me a fresh cuppa
Cuirass of the Savior’s Hide + Boots of Blinding Speed = great combo
Honestly a little suprised it took almost 30 parts for Jon to kill someone important
Your "rosetta stone" is a travel guide.
I looked this up, and it turns out Crazy Batou is incorrectly marked as Essential. He plays no part in any quest in the game.
Jon shpuld definitely put on that funny amulet :3c
Shoving marshmerrow in your face is still more effective than most cheaper healing potions, even if you aren't really an alchemy-oriented player.
Scourge looks BADA$$! I really hope Jon starts using it instead of his bound mace!
The world is doomed and only a prophesied hero can save it? That can wait. There’s ancient tomes to translate and an archaeological mystery to uncover? We must start immediately!! Oh Jon, never change.
the thread of prophecy message from killing crazy batou is actually a mistake. No one is actually sure why he's flagged as plot essential.
The test of pattern was the lights above the cranks btw
Im so glad Jon puttered around for a while letting the disease get worse. Do you think he'll ever notice what it did to him?
Dwemer Language Lesseon!
Previously, I explained Nchuleft as "Dedicated Farm", and Nchuleftingth is obviously an extension of that.
"-ingth" is a suffix used as the English prefix "New" (see: New York), so it would translate to "New Dedicated Farm."
This likely indicates that it was the main stronghold for a new type of resource gathering, be it a new material or new extraction method.
When I saw that title, I thought that somehow, some way, Jon had killed Yagrum Bagarn
You can still beat the game while getting the thread of prophecy message.
High willpower gives a chance to shrug off paralysis.
26:35 Sure, a family member, let's go with that...
Clones are a kind of family.
Jon cast restore on all your attributes as he, "cured " you but did not fix your stats.
Based on the title, something tells me that Jon kills someone vital to the survival of this world..
51:30 i mean hammerfell is named for it so its quite important.
Oh no. Oh NO. The title fills me with a sense of dread.
I'd say more like the Rosetta stone rather than holy grail
Guys, guys, they said the line!
Use the amulet on your character Jon :)
He is realising CHIM
Huh, I never knew your case of Corprus slowly got worse thats a very nice touch from the Devs. I always rushed to Tel Fyr to see an expert!
Fyr doesnt actually remove all the effects, you get to keep the corprus strength & endurance.
lol, Jon, Valendrung doesn't hit as hard as Veloth's Judement because it, like, weighs 60 units less. 😂
You should try on that stylish Daedric Shrine Amulet *wink wink*
Can't just be a coincidence that there's a Dwemer ruin called "Mzuleft" here and a Dwemer ruin called "Mzulft" in Skyrim, right?...
get one more resist magicka constant effect item of 15% or more and you can wear the boots of blinding speed with no vision impairment!
Get the Corpus cured straight away as the stat loss is permanent as I recall
Incorrect, you keep the physical increases, but the mental densities can be restored (the "symptoms" of the disease) - there are guides saying to sleep at fyr's feet so you can boost your stats as far as you can, and walk away laughing
the buffs from corprus are permanent even though the debuffs are not... You could have gotten your strength and endurance EXTREMELY high by just using a shrine to restore attributes every once in awhile! I had an all legit character with 1000 strength and endurance 20 years ago. If I dropped all gear and was on flat land I could jump high enough to hurt myself lol
also, you did not miss anything in the corprusarium as far as I know. Each key opens the next subsequent chest
had to take a peek at the wiki, you can PACIFY the inmates?!
I think there is a drum that you can find in the corprusarium that when played "calms the inmates down".
Fyi Jon, you know you can make potions (sandwiches) that restore magic???
Me when my in-laws visit 6:51
Morrowind? Lets subscribe
Woohoo!
Crazy batou is not essential, looked it up
