I was crying a mere 30 seconds in, not only because it was so beautiful to see and hear this song played by so many diverse artists or because I wish so much we could have peace, but because I also remember when this song first came out and it hit me hard just how very little things have changed over the decades since. I jumped on the peace train 50 years ago. It hasn't left the station.
Yusuf ‘Cat’ Stevens still has that wonderful voice that hasn’t faltered. Hearing him sing just a few bars sends me back to when I was 13 and my big sistered was playing the record over and over on our stereo.
I was 18 and already a performing musician when Peace Train came out. Loved this, and other Cat Stevens tunes.

It absolutely guts me that so many people out there choose war, violence, and hate, when there is so much beautiful art, music, and delicious food from from all across the world to experience. We have the power and technology to make the life pleasant from start to finish, yet there are those that insist on making the human experience a dehumanizing experience.

I fell in love with my husband while listening to Cat Stevens (Yusuf) in the early 70's. His amazing music and lyrics have stayed with us for almost 50 years. If only the world had listened to and applied his words then... It is wonderful to experience Peace Train with Yusuf and an array of such beautiful artists.

Listening to all these beautiful voices not only fills my heart with great joy, but it elevates all of our frequencies to a much higher level. This music and those who came together to share their voices needs to be put into the hands and ears of all humans on planet Earth. It is this unity that will elevate mankind spiritually and forever end hate, evil and war. Dont be misled...this energy is far stronger and more powerful then one hundred nation's armies. In 1971, I believe here in Portland, Or a local radio station started playing this and continued as long as they got requests. This included joining a Peace Train by car up to a local hill and around. I don't know how long it played but I was up most of the night listening as a passenger in a car. The song still gives hope and tears seeing how far we have to go.
