I had the black non-serrated blade knife, loved it, but lost it, so went yesterday and purchased another one. First one cost $9 plus tax, new one cost $10 plus tax! Both of them had uncomfortable grips to me due to ends of the black scales being a bit sharp. Took my Drexel with a medium grind stone and just quickly went over the edges on both. Now very comfortable grip! I just hope I don't lose my new one!

I have several HB knives and they work just fine. I use the HB with the ceramic washers as an EDC simply because of its smooth deployment and edge retention. But when I need a knife , I like it to be sharp, if not , its like carrying a gun with no bullets.

I appreciate this video, wish I had seen it before buying the terrible skeleton Gordon knife. I later bought the $9 Gordon non-serrated knife, and am very happy with it. It cuts open all my boxes, opens all my kids’ toy wrappers, pokes holes in my microwave meal plastic film, prys stuff out of small places, cuts flaps off cardboard boxes, sharpens crayons and pencils, opens bags of frozen veggies, cuts paracord, and with the clip removed, sits unnoticed in my from pocket.
I also have the $40 Icon knife from HF. I don’t like it. it’s too heavy, the handle doesn’t fit, and the lockup is misaligned.

I’m the same way with blade play, I’d rather have a tighter knife with no play. Often times for me if a knife has play I won’t even carry it haha, just one of those pet peeves. Great video as always, I’ll have to see what my local harbor freight has in stock for cutlery.

Serrations are good for fibrous material, but for common EDC tasks, a plain edge is a better way to go.

Blade play drives me crazy. I don't mind a happy medium between blade play and smoothness of a knife. As long as its not enough to notice it when using it.
The 2 liner lock knives remind me of the kershaw zing knife in looks. Thanks for the video, n the info

I had the skeletonized knife. It was so stiff I had to use a flathead screwdriver to unlock the liner lock. Other than being unable as a pocket knife it was nice. I returned it and got another of the black handle knives

I have the skeletonized one and yes its garbage, but have two of the third one and it is a fantastic knife for that price.

I carry a benchmade 940 and have a opinel no 8 in walnut I have lying around for stuff a knife inst exactly meant for, like cutting against metal or prying. It’s nice to have a cheap blade to abuse and not worry nearly as much

I just might have to buy a couple of each of the last 2 and keep them in stock. Cuz I always find myself gifting knives to non knife people that say, "hey, I want a knife". And then I give them a knife that I wind up missing later on. Plus, these "non knife people" take HORRIBLE care of their knives. They pry, they use em as screw drivers etc. Anytime I resharpen one, I literally cry. But with these... I'll just keep a few at the house at all times. And if someone needs a "resharpening" I'll just bring em a new one! It would be more than worth the price of higher quality knives I've given out and the time I've spent reprofiling the sawtooth edges they bring back to me!! This video saved my life🤣🤣🤣🤣

The knife you don’t like thumb flicks light lightning when it’s tight enough to have no blade play but too tight to flip. If you have the ability to grind the flipper tab off it is a huge upgrade and really a great deal

The straight edge Gordon on bearings is fantastic truck knife, just loctite the frame screws.

I’ve got the Paraframe knockoff and had the same problem. Loosen the pivot and the blade wobbles like crazy. I’ve got the Challenger with the serrations. I heard it was discontinued and picked up the last ones at my local Harbor Freight. There were four of them on clearance for $6.77 each plus I had a 20% off coupon.

Cheap knives are great. Sometimes you need a beater.

That harbor freight paraframe looks like it would do a half decent job for most of my edc stuff like cutting loose threads or sharpening a pencil. I don't know whether there's a difference between chert, obsidian, glass or jasper but I'm pretty sure a ceramic knife would hold an edge longer than the "lower end" steels like 420hc , aus8, or 14c28n

The composite-handled Gordons are smoother to operate, especially the current model, but I also like the skeletal knife. Use the flipper to kick the blade out of the handle, then use the thumbstud to push the blade to full open. It doesn't take much practice. Yeah, the action is very tight and the thing is a bear to close, but for the price it makes a decent little beater knife.

Also removed the belt clip as I don’t like its feel on my hand, but ok if I am wearing gloves.

With the price of aftermarket clips and screws, those knives are worth the price in parts alone.

I hate that paraframe ,reminds me of the Gerber paraframe. I hated that one I had and I gave it away. But I like the other 2. I'm gonna buy the straight blade knife

You're really down on the knife . I work at a packaging company . I use this to cut close cell and open cell foam of varying thicknesses weight . Still holding up . I've used more expensive knifes and I know what a good knife is . This six dollar knife has held up to daily abuse . What I'm trying to say is that I don't agree at all with what you've said about this knife .

Bought the bearing one today. Came smoother out the box than my SOG Terminus XR and very close to the sharpness. Blows my mind for 8.99.
I was able to reverse flick for the first time with it too. HIGHLY RECOMENDED. Also in terms of size its almost the same height and width and blade size as the SOG Terminus.

I have the skelton frame knife as a Christmas gift I got with multiple pocket knives. The person that got it for me knew it would be used as a throw away blade that I wouldn’t care if I lost it unlike my more expensive para 3 and then other decent knifes from years ago and I have to open it with two hands because the blade is too damn tight. It’s honestly best to keep it locked then try putting it back in the closed position. It’s honestly the most annoying knife I’ve ever held in my hands. It takes more effort to open it then it’s worth imo. Even for the price I still would recommend the others you have on screen.

Push cut in one tiny spot is why I hate those string tester machines. One tiny spot on the blade. Ok how's the rest of the blade? Use more string tabs? Gotcha.

I've been edcing the bearing straight edge harbor freight knife and I'm really impressed with the value and materials for the price I have a Kershaw brawler and the materials are practically the same, Kershaw had the the speed safe assist and harbor freight has bearings and the brawler is three to four times more expensive, i don't have expensive knives I'm more of a traditional guy but he fallen in love with the harbor knfe
