    I am enjoying this channel alot! I have learned more from you then I have from any other channel and the best part is you're local! Reminds me of watching Steven Kopecky run a blade. Someone you probably know! Hope to see some more recent content from you soon Vern.

      @@onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937 do you ever do work on rural roads? If so id love to see how you go about windrow management, laying it back out, dealing with high shoulders etc.
      Come spring every one of the roads i maintain are frost heaved horribly, it makes for a difficult time when laying the material back out, to keep a consistent STRAIGHT edge on the shoulder. If youve got experience in this area i would enjoy soaking up some of your knowledge. Thanks Vern!

      @@ericarmstrong2832 Hi Eric, I know exactly what you are talking about, and there is nothing more annoying than a crooked shoulder. As you grade over these frost heaves, the material in front of your blade will "increase and decrease" and that will cause an uneven shoulder. The only way to remedy the problem, is to take a straight and uniform windrow out to the shoulder line, and then bring it back toward the crown. That way your blade never runs empty at the shoulder line. I understand that you may not have time to do this extra step. It's a good question, thank you.

    New to the channel. Just curious, have you run any m series cats with the joysticks? If so how do you like them?

    • @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937
      @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sam, on occasion, I work alongside one of SG"s
      M series graders. I have only operated the M for a few hours, not long enough to build up the "muscle memory" for the joysticks. If I was a younger man, I would no doubt transition over to the M. As an "owner operator" the cost and ease of maintenace and repair, influences my decision to stick with my "H". I hope that what I try to teach on this channel, will be helpful to any grader type.
      For me, It's not so much " old school vs new school", It's more about the bottom line. This is an obvious question, and I get it a lot. Thank You for watching.

    Great video Vern 👍🏻 I have a question for you……. When you are cutting close against the curb do you mainly use your steering to adjust your alignment or do you use your blade slide? Or a combination of both? Keep up the great work!

    • @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937
      @onlyamillionmistakesvernky7937  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Troy, I mostly use my steering, but some blade slide "around CBs" I uploaded another video devoted to this topic, entitled "Cutting the Gutter" the video is near the beginning, it's a good question.
