I loved God-Shattering Star's similar instrumentation and Apex of the World's (likewise A Funeral of Flowers') brilliant use of the leitmotifs of their game, but fuck man, Echoes did both in one goddamn glorious song.
I’m using that song as the BGM for the final battle in my dungeons and dragons campaign, which culminates in the Scouring, when the dragons were banished from Elibe ~2000 years before the events of Blazing Blade
Twilight of the gods is still my favorite final boss theme. The combination of it alongside all the character's unique quotes is just really powerful. The fe6 final boss theme is amazing too
Id (Purpose) has never been my personal favorite out of these and still probably isn't, but man, hearing it in this context and hearing how prominently they tossed in the main theme of the franchise compared to every other final boss/map theme just makes it hit so much different.
Awakening was potentially going to be the last fe game to release, at least in the west, after ever game following the sacred stones did not sell well outside of Shadow Dragon but IS saw sales doing better in Japan. Awakening then went on to more than double the estimated total series sales from around 2 million to 4.4 million which led to fire emblem remaining in the west.
The fact that the game with the most appearances of Medeus in the final boss titles is TMS kinda scares me. Course TMS is the game that would get me to drink the most, thing feels like a drug trip.
Honestly, from a musical standpoint, the line between old-school FE and new FE isn’t Awakening. It’s A Grasping Truth. Yes, 11 and 12 very strongly returned to the older style, but they’re remakes, so that’s kind of expected. A Grasping Truth is really the line where it stops sounding like a higher-quality version of the SNES and starts to sound like Id Purpose, End of All, ect. Part of it is probably the fact that it’s both a map and battle theme, but even stylistically, they’re similar. That is NOT a shot at the older stuff at all, for the record. I just think that FE10’s theme FEELS different to what came before, if that makes sense.
I know it’s not really up there with the giants of the last decade, but The Prince’s Despair will always be among my favorites, if only because of “Here I come, Lyon.”

I did really appreciate that it has male vocals to show that Shigure is singing, but just like @A C I did get tired of those songs after a while. I think it was amplified by the fact that the opening "You are the ocean's grey waves" really drew attention to the fact that it was on loop whenever it started over. But after hearing the three versions before it, all with just Azura singing, hearing Shigure's voice was very refreshing. And aside from the fact that the songs started feeling repetitive because they all used the same lyrics, I agree they were rather good. Personally I can't decide between Id (purpose), Twilight of the Gods, or any of the 3 Houses themes. But of those games I haven't actually played 3 Houses yet, so they might very well win out for me once I have experienced the stories and battles to associate with the songs.
The one track I'd say is missing for when this was uploaded is Roar of Dominion for Three Houses Part I but other than that I'm in awe at how extensive this is! Great work!
You are the oceans grey waves destined to seek life beyond the shore, just out of reach. Yet the waters ever change, flowing like time, the path is yours to climb. For me, the best final boss theme. I love the 3 paths.
Ashera´s "A Grasping Truth" is so underrated, it sounds menacing and powerful, fitting for a fight against one of the goddess of creation in the Tellius series.
especially since it also incorporates so many little nods and instruments from other songs in those games' soundtracks, to really hammer home that you are fighting someone who is literally part of Tellius itself. Honestly I feel like Ashera in general is an underrated final boss because she still falls into a similar pattern to Duma or "fallen gods" that are fought in FE, but unlike the others Ashera didn't descend into madness - she was just so afraid of what her powers could do that she ripped out her emotions and sealed them in a medallion
@@cscotch1127 Aside from that, i think Ashera is probably the most creative boss in the whole franchise and one of the best, requiring actual strategy, damage calculation, good positioning, correct use of everyone's unique abilities. I mean, to this day we haven't seen a boss even remotely like her in the franchise. Most of them nowadays are just "steamroll with your best units and (or) main character". They are so boring and anticlimatic. Ashera is one of the few ones that actually feels like the "final boss" of the game, being a totally unique type of enemy in which you have to put to the test everything that the game has taught you up until this point, while also being totally unpredictible, incredibly dangerous and actually hard as shit.
@@tronitac0523 I second this. It was my first FE game and it's such a difficult boss too! (even on easy mode) On my first playthrough, I had to do a battle save every time all my units survived one turn against her, and I reset so many times each turn... And the longer you take, the worse her AoE attacks get, and you must restart 2 turns before to position your units on the right tiles to survive. Really the msot chess-like battle. It's quite telling that it's one of the longest final boss tracks, and that it sounds so ominous!
Personally, I think my theme is the best of them, but the proper Idunn map theme wasn't even used. The right theme is a soft, sad and slow tune symbolic of the sad truth behind Idunn's origins
I've always liked the "versus Julius" theme... FE4 will always be one of the best in the series. There are many good songs that it is difficult to choose my favorite, I also like the theme of "Shaman in the dark" of FE6. I don't see tracks like Mastermind of FE Awakening or Clash of Two Virtues of FE Shadow Dragon on the list, those are also epic.
Good point, didn't think about that! I personally love Ascent, so it's even better to me, haha I'll think about adding it when making a new version! ^^
Doors of Destiny is so emotional man. I'll concede to the fact that some of the later boss and map themes are better, but the two FE4 ones are my personal favorites.
@@niltondias5976 That's the best part imo, it makes you feel this is truly the end to what Sigurd started and how his spirit lives in Seliph, what a fucking good theme
Wow, this compilation is fantastic! Hat's off to you! Though if you'll allow me one nitpick, the volume seems to awkwardly rise and fall, especially noticeable in Id (Purpose) and God Shattering Star. It's not a huge deal, but kinda distracting none the less.
My top 5 1 Doors of Destiny. You thin the game is 'ending' and SURPRISE: almost your characters get killed in an epic and dishonoured way 2 Twilght of Gods 3 Radiant Dawn, which represents quite good the essence of the game, its context. 4 THABES LABYRINTH -> so religious, indeed 5 Apex of the World
You use "The Prince's Despair" as a battle theme, so you should use "Land of Promise" as a map theme since that track is played on the map you defeat Lyon, just before the Demon King.
3:20:18 dunno if it's just me, but I swear I can hear a bit of the player phase Strike music from Blazing/Binding Blade in Freyja's theme. It's only a second or two of it, but I swear I hear it.
This Precious World...now, as much I kinda don't like fighting Velezark, this song is every for a final battle. And I still play FE Warriors till this day, fight me.
Echoes: Has an epic final map theme and a fitting but less epic final boss theme New Mystery: Has an epic final boss theme and a fitting but less epic final map theme
For me Vs. Julius , Shaman in the Dark , A Grasping Truth , Apex Of The World , God Shattering Star are my favorite Final Boss Themes specially A Grasping Truth and God Shattering Star
The Brave Alts of Alm and Celica are so good... Also, even though I love her new design, the old armor, etc. of Celica was so much more suitable for the battle. It might've been cool if they let her start like that Brave Alt and after the Mila Shrine she could've promoted in a more royal appearance similiar to the actual redesign.
Fantastic compilation! Started playing FE since awakening but the sound track and story just tempts me into wanting to play the earlier entries as well. Shame they are so hard to come by.
Mystery of the Emblem's chapters are wrong tho Book 1's endgame is chapter 20 and the final 4 maps are called Final 1 (the first) and Final 2 (the other 3, they're a single chapter here)
I hadn't realised how many FE4 songs I was actually familiar with despite not having played it. That game has some incredibly dedicated fans. FEH's including of its themes has certainly helped to solidify them in my head too. I feel like The Final Holy War plays on every second training tower floor or smthn. Also the evolution/remaster of themes between FE1 and FE11 are just crazy. Like FE1 is so limited its beeps feel like a timer is ticking down; meanwhile FE11 is deeper and kinda daunting. _Also_ also, FE11's Medeus theme sounds crazy but awesome while FE1's Medeus theme sounds like it was conducted by Satan passed out drunk on a keyboard. And Gaiden's Map 5 Theme? Amazing. Twilight of the Gods is great, but who could have expected the original to sound so _clean_ ? Oof I came here just to pick out the references in Freyja's theme but I think I actually learned something about music in general...
We really need Tellius style music back in Fire Emblem. I like the music in every FE game, but there's something about these PoR/RD final boss and map themes that's more grand in scale. You can really feel how important the final battle really is with these. I don't think any of the others really capture that exact feeling. I mean, To Challenge Ashnard is probably the single most intimidating final boss theme in all of Fire Emblem. I haven't even played this game and I feel it.
Everything into the Dark and Campaign of Fire sound quite flat and IMO even confusing. Even a pretty calm player phase theme like FE6's Path of the Divine General sounds better.
Everyone is praising Twilight of the God but Dark Earth Dragon just hits me like a truck. Same as Versus Julius. Same intense high tempo style. Underrated bangerz. Well can't be a FE comment from me if I don't say anything good about Sacred Stones. "The Final Battle" and "Return of the Demon" are bangers of their own rights, though my favorite is "Light in the Dark", a world map theme. The FE8 team learned some good lessons from Gaiden.
This is great! I do think it would be worth adding the map and boss themes for Radiant Dawn Parts 1, 2, and 3 Endgames as well as the map themes for the rest of Part 4 Endgame (which I believe was already suggested). I also think adding in the map theme for Three Houses chapter 12 would be nice as that is the end of Part 1.
Why are the battle themes for the Three Houses final map themes not on here? The rain version is the version used in the final map outside of battle and the thunder version is the version used in battle.
because they're exactly the same songs, just with some minor differences like more bass. the thunder variations aren't different enough to justify being played separately. (also, it says "combined theme" at the top, which leads me to believe they're just mashups of the rain and thunder versions, and if that's the case, the fact that you couldn't tell the difference further proves my point.)
@@ryangallagher9723 Funeral of Flowers (Thunder) is actually very different. Instead of being an upbeat battle song, it’s a sad piano, due to the sad ending of the route.
Funeral of Flowers is inarguable that it should get both versions in compilations, but Apex of the World and God-Shattering Star are more ambiguous. It'd be nice to have one loop of Rain and Thunder for them both.
Funny thing about forbidden sanctuary being remade, in the timeline, echoes takes place about a year or so after shadow dragon and one year or so before mystery of the emblem
Thanks for putting these together, no way would I ever have the skills to get to all of these myself. also what's with fates having 4 different arrangements? aren't there only 3 versions?

The Brave Alts of Alm and Celica are so good...
Also, even though I love her new design, the old armor, etc. of Celica was so much more suitable for the battle. It might've been cool if they let her start like that Brave Alt and after the Mila Shrine she could've promoted in a more royal appearance similiar to the actual redesign.
Please do a updated Version of this 🙏

Last Phase from FEH gave me goosebumps
This is exactly what i was looking for
Fantastic compilation! Started playing FE since awakening but the sound track and story just tempts me into wanting to play the earlier entries as well. Shame they are so hard to come by.
Mystery of the Emblem's chapters are wrong tho
Book 1's endgame is chapter 20 and the final 4 maps are called Final 1 (the first) and Final 2 (the other 3, they're a single chapter here)
New Mystery of the Emblem’s Dark Emperor theme sounds like a Pokémon battle theme. You hear it too, right?
Even today I still don’t know the differences between all the End of All’s
the first bout of lyrics has azura doin different stuff
It’s purely lyrical differences. The instrumentation and composition seem to be identical across all 3 versions so it’s just the lyrics
Man, congregation of ambition just hits different. To this day it still is my favorite track.
FE3 Where book 2 where the final boss theme is so great there's two of them
agreed, that game had my favorite boss music by far
4:27 just imagine hearing this in 1992
I hadn't realised how many FE4 songs I was actually familiar with despite not having played it.
Doorway of Destiny from Genealogy is just so haunting, especially when you know what's coming.
my best bgm monsho no nazo &ankoku ryu to hikari tsurugi & thrarcia 776
Thracia 776 also has a unique enemy phase theme that plays during the endgame. Same goes for Genealogy
Hot take but Rise to the Challenge is a better "final"boss Theme than the actualy final boss themes of FE7
When that song play my mind suddenly think that im fighting morph Kenneth
Fe7's final boss theme is really bland
Campaign of Fire especially syncing with Fire Dragon's animation is kinda lit tho
Everything into the Dark and Campaign of Fire sound quite flat and IMO even confusing.
Even a pretty calm player phase theme like FE6's Path of the Divine General sounds better.
fe4 got me like
"Last Phase" also appears(first) at the end of Book I, 10-5 when you face Veronica.(technically this was the end of Book I)
Love your content friend
Man between Book 2 Major Boss and Return to Nifl, FEH book 2 actually had some sweet music
The Warriors OST is so good, it's absolutely criminal who little it's talked about.
Campaign of Fire is just anxiety x10
love the GBA games to this day. something about gba music in general is just so fun.
TIL that Forbidden Sanctuary from SoV is a new arrangement of the same song from New Mystery! That's really cool, actually.
Doors of Destiny perfectly captures the somber tone of the chapter.
I just love how both Corrins are just not there for Fates. Like, they could've easily replaced Ryoma and Xander, but they didn't.
what are Corrins again?
@@FFelizpe ah, pretending Corrin doesn't exist now, aren't we?
Same with Divine Decree for Awakening.
Dragon's Gate II - best final map theme.
Do you think you could update this with Engage and Three Hopes?
I will soon, yes! ^^
I'm glad to help!
The fourth arrangement is from the DLC!
Quick Correction, It's Actually Azure Moon Chapter 22, Not 21...
But These Songs R Amazing, So I Don't Mind All That Much
Is it displayed as chapter 22 in-game? I thought it was just considered Chapter 21 part two, like with the four PoR maps

Fe8's soundtrack never misses
Some of these games sure do have a lot of final boss music
Call me basic, but This Precious World is literally the only song out of all of these that gets me more hype than God Shattering Star.
Veld's theme is really underrated.
