@@CharlesHarrisonMusicTuition Hi, I'm currently learning the head of a lot of famous standards, and trying to write down their chords in a I ii iii IV fashion, so I can play them in any key, I heard they're easier to remember. For example, I can play the chords to donna lee from memory, but I wouldnt be able to in F. Also, some things are impossible to memorize for me, like All The Things You Are, even if it is mainly 2-5-1s. So learning in this style might make it easier. Thanks for your time!
Same to you! I use the DiMarzio seat belt straps. Be warned if you have a nice finish the buckles can scuff it up a bit. I'm not too worried about it with this natural finish. Cheers 🤟
I've been posting more than ever my friend 😎 TH-cam is so silly with the bell and now 'Join' options. Pleased you're enjoying the content, sounds like you've got some catching up to do 😉 Cheers!
@@LaurenceGuitar Definitely. I'm more confident on rhythm changes due to familiarity. I take them even further back and consider them variations on the blues language 🎸🎶🎷🎹🎺
I just double checked and yes. Not sure what-s going on there? Have you checked your tuner's settings? I just checked that the video is in tune too and no weird audio jiggery pokery is going on at my end on this occasion! Let me know once you've figured it out. Cheers!
@@CharlesHarrisonMusicTuition sorry! I had new strings and probably due to the stormy and rainy weather here in Holland it detuned constantly; if you want I can remove my comments? Thanks, great videos and special guitar you have! Hans
@@Hansprive It's no trouble! I'm due a new set myself, my intonation is a little off nearer the 12th fret, where I spent most of this video so could be to blame for that too! Cheers
It certainly can be, check out some lead sheets and you'll see both, some are even in 2/2! Which sheet is your go to? Cheers for taking the time to comment!
@@Dwoed I completely agree. Check out Hal Galper's 'Forward Motion' book where the discusses the concept that 16th notes are true jazz time and not 8th notes. Absolutely fascinating stuff!!
@@CharlesHarrisonMusicTuition The harmony and bass movement give it a clear 2/2 feel but for a jazz lead sheet it doesn't really matter (there's no conductor and we don't need to read from score)

Great video, thank you. I've always had difficulty soloing over this tune as a sax player, I look forward to working this concept. Well Done!
Thanks for taking the time to say so Bill. Best of luck to you! Cheers
Great video Charles. Lots of ideas for us to try out.
Thank you, David! I'm pleased this one was useful for you. Charles
wow, this was way more than how to improvise on it, this is a really good lesson
Delighted to hear that, thank you very much! What are you working on in your practice at the moment? Cheers

Sounds like a very sensible practice approach to me! Did you know that Donna Lee in F is the song Indiana? Learn that one! Cheers
Thanks bro
@@anthonydlima99 You're most welcome!
Very helpful Charles 👍
I'm delighted to hear that, Rick. Thanks for taking the time to say so
Longer videos give you the chance to say the same idea in a different way. So the awe moment can happen for more people. Nice job!
I'm pleased you liked this one, Ron. Thank you for your kind comment 🙏
muchas gracias !! esta muy bien explicado!!
You're most welcome, gracias!
Thanks for sharing, really useful~
Thanks for taking the time to say so, Simon!
Merci ! une vidéo très utile pour construire une impro sur ce morceau.
Je vous en prie! Merci

@@CharlesHarrisonMusicTuition sweet thanks. Mine is a flat finish acoustic so I think I’m good. Love your channel.
I thought you weren't uploading videos anymore then saw the bell icon off  Great content, keep the motivation going!

The pleasure is mine. Please How can I reach you
This song is the simplest and the hardest of jazz.
The simple ones are always the hardest to create interest over as they don't rely on harmonic interest! cheers
Great tune! Bloody hard to play well I find!
But obvs just another tune based on rhythm changes...

@@CharlesHarrisonMusicTuition thats true, jazz comes from the blues!
Are you tuned to A 440Hertz, because I did and it sounded out of tune with your guitar? Thanks anyway!

It is not in 4/4 but 2/4.

@@CharlesHarrisonMusicTuition indeed 4/4 is most common , then you have count faster(16th notes)than 2/4. Very remarkable, thnx.
