    I bought the Cammus C5 early on this year to replace my owned from new in 2008 Logitech driving force GT. I was absolutely blown away by it. The smoothness, the power and the sheer amount of buttons was overwhelming to me. I have used both the fanatec and the Moza 5NM wheels and this feels more powerful, more like the fanatec with the boost kit. I believe it is rated 5NM constant with 6-7NM peak. It certainly feels like that. I didn't get the pedals as they did look a bit "pony", I kept my T3PA Pro's and I kept my crappy Logitech shifter. Quality wise, The thing is solidly built It still looks brand new after over 6 months of daily use, BUT, I have had to replace both paddle shifters as they both snapped at the 90 degree bend They have redesigned the shifter to give it more support at that bend and I haven't had a problem since. Etsy has some paddle slippers so you can make them bigger, but coming from the DFGT the things feel big to me. Another issue is my right hand rotary encoder needs tightening every month or so. There are tiny little screws in the knob that secure it, that loosens, just on the one encoder A bit annoying, but nothing game breaking. The feeling from the wheel is awesome, its so smooth with loads of detail in the FFB. You really can feel everything. Most of the buttons fall easily under a thumb or finger, yes, the wheel should have definitely been round, but overall its a great product and should be a serious contender for everyone as their starter wheel.

      do you need an adaptor to use the thrustmaster pedals with the cammus wheel?

    Thanks. I ordered the C5 the day after your review kicked me into action and after 8 years with my trusty old G27. Dispatched the day after from Spain and delivered in France two working days later. 39 dollars for post and no surprises with any additional charges or taxes.
    Mounted easily on my Playseat Challenge. Kept my old pedals which work just with the G27 USB cable plugged in and not powered up. Ordered an Arduino Leonardo to be able to connect them without keeping the the G27 wheel on the floor.
    Initial impressions are extremely positive. Hope it gives many years of service. It has a 2 year guarantee in the EU which gives some peace of mind.

    I agree I used to have the Logitech G29 wheel and pedals.
    Changed to Thrustmaster tlcm a while ago and now got the cammus c5
    Really happy with it, is funny as said before it looks different to other wheels but when racing your looking at the screen so doesn’t matter. The shifters are different but oddly they work really well.
    For the price it is great, only use it at 75% power on ACC and wouldn’t want it any stronger

    It's a really enticing product, I'd like to see some proper long term reviews though

    11:28 You know what, oddly enough this is like the pedals of an air-cooled 911. From 1964 all the way until 1998, the Porsche 911 had floor-mounted pedals that were hinged to the floor. The 996 and subsequent models used a more conventional design...
    I'm a big fan of vintage Porsches so I'm wondering, do you know of any higher quality sim pedals with a clutch that keep this unusual hinged design?

    I just got my C12 preorder and its incredible. These Cammus products might not stand the test of time potentially, but the tech at these pricepoints is great for a budget minded racer.

    This seems like a really good deal for the money. As long as you just want one wheel and thats it then it seems ideal as an entry level dd wheel. Belt driven wheels watch out

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I'd take it over all other entry wheels at this price point.

    Because of the way it's built, some said that the c5 in terms of strength is on par or with the csl dd's 8nm
    Would you say it was your experience too?

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've not tested them back to back so can't accurately say, but it's pretty strong for what it is.

    Such a shame it’s not console compatible

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah console licenseing is very expensive and there are many hops to jump through, I think eastern manufactueres would struggle, even Asetek are struggling and they have the budget and experince!

    @Karl Gosling i have quick questiom what should i get gt omega apex wheel stand or next level wheel stand 2.0 ? thank you

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The NLR stand is much more sturdy than the Apex, but I'd go GT Omega DDX, it's as solid as the NLR stand but cheaper.

    does the cammus c5 wheel and pedals fit on a wheel stand, like the GT omega ones? Also I heard some people say that the pedals are bad, is that true?
    This is gonna be my first sim racing rig, and I’m just a casual gamer so I don’t need something too fancy (but I want something fancier than the g29 haha)

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah it'll fit mate no worries, if you watch the review I give you my thoughts on the pedals.

    Take the pad off the clamp head. Punch a hole in the center. Glue the pad back on.

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yup that would work... I think Loctite the thread so you don't have to keep tightening it would be better though.

    Hey Karl, im very indecisive on a first dd wheel. Budget is the biggest factor. Is there an option to add a clutch pedal? And what kind of shifter options are there? Im a fan of drifting and was worried the built in motor getting in the way.
    The fanatec csl dd is on a steep sale currently but i dont know how i feel about their bankruptcy situation

    • @KarlGosling
      @KarlGosling  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cammus do offer a three pedal set but no shifter or HB.
      It's a tricky one mate, thats for sure, the Fanatec CSL DD with shifter, three pedals and a HB would be a nice package and not too heavy on the budget but as you say with their current financial situation it's a risk with future warranty if needed.

  • @just-another-guy
    @just-another-guy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I would like to say not to buy the pedals. I bought them as part of the bundle and within 2 weeks, the bar that holds the magnet on, started slipping. I ended up having to wedge some cardboard in there to keep the magnet from dropping too far back, which was leaving me with an on or off brake. If you can afford it, buy load cell pedals.

    I really do think these manufacturers listen to you. I'm saying this because I remember your R9 review that slates the power block. I got the R12 and it's like Moza has seriously over compensated as a result of your video. The block has a logo that glows and the cable is proper chunky!
