    As a Brazilian, it is very nice to watch Calderano matches here.
    I Think he does not have the mentality of the other players. Even though he has more hability tham the other top players, I think he is not able to play his best all the games.
    This match he played very well the 1o, 2o and 3o games. But, the others...

      You also have to keep in mind that he has a heavy burden on him: being the only Brazilian to reach that level for so long. Generally the others who were/are in the international TOP were/are players from nations that had several international champions throughout their histories. You had very capable people, and the best were of Japanese origin, like so many other countries that had Asian immigration. These players, since they were children, are trained by family members with training from their countries of origin. They have quite an advantage over those born in the West. And there are even other Asians who - knowing they are good but not good enough to qualify to be on their national teams - play for other nations, thus taking away the opportunity for citizens born in those countries. In Argentina, there is the case of Liu Song, a Chinese who was even on his country's National Team for 4 years, then became an Argentine national (where his family had moved) but lived in France. The famous "anything goes" to win a medal (and even more so in developing countries). In Calderano's case, his quality leap was when Brazil began to invest a few million dollars in the sport and Calderano and other players were able to go to Europe and China to train. If he stayed in his country (as happens with most amateur sports players from less developed countries) he was not going to get where he is today.

      @@paulispaul1974 Yeah, man, I know. He has a lot of pression and I can imagine how dificult it might be. I remember when he won a American title, I think in the end of 2022, and started to cry.

      @@feliperust1 Obviously it is not easy to have been born in a South American country, we have a different psychology and another way of socializing (friends/family). I can't imagine how difficult it must be to be away from your loved ones for so many months to fulfill your dreams. As much as video calls exist, nothing compares to a kiss and hug from our loved ones. I see him as one of the best references and players with the greatest projection on the continent.

    Hugo tends to give up too much space at the table once the rally gets going. He's been stuck in that habit forever now. He has so much athleticism and strength tho

    What is your opinion regarding Calderano's mistakes near the table? Is it due to his equipment or lack of sensitivity?

    • @VladTableTennis
      @VladTableTennis  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i think its a mix. His technique and power more suited for far out of the table game. Maybe mid range. His swing is just to broad for close to the table encounters in my opinion. I dont know what he plays with to say fir sure its equipment fault.

      @@VladTableTennis Racket: XIOM HUGO CALDERANO HAL (Hyper Axylium Carbon)
      Rubber (Forehand): XIOM OMEGA VII TOUR I MAX (50°)
      Rubber (Backhand): XIOM OMEGA VII TOUR I MAX (48°)
      It's obviously a very fast blade with hard rubbers. Perhaps the tension with which he must play, added to the boost in his rubbers, doesn't allow him to find the sensitivity to play correctly on the table...

    I think Hugo movement are good because he is the top conditioned athlete in table tennis.
    But I think it is brute force in the game. On contrast, Ma long doesn't have insane footwork as before but it is more optimized. As the transition of bh and fh. In table and out of table.
    If Hugo could optimize his small steps in the table he could have better chances in the Olympics.

      Maybe even his swings. Too broad for my liking. But you are definitely correct

      I talk most of the time after the match or when i see interesting stuff that cant be skipped. Most of my take on Hugo was after he lost tho.
