@@zzlove2289 Most places are super cheap. I paid maybe $3 for mine at Ace Hardware. Just make sure they aren't fakes. Google how to test your glasses. Quick test and you're good. Best wishes!
This is AWESOME!!! My daughter and I just made our own cereal box eclipse viewers using your instructions and they turned out great!!! Can't wait to use them in a couple of hours!!!
Super fortunate to be able to make this last minute to view the eclipse for April 2024. What a great way to use resources that are at home. Definitely a lower cost option compared to the glasses !
Thanks. I have glasses but hubby does not. So making a box and we can go back and forth. Plus, it brings back fond memories of my dad making us a viewing box for solar eclipses. So fun!
Wow. I remember this eclipse because I live in KC and it was happening when I worked in a parking garage at the time and I had a chance to see it. This year I'll make a pinhole lens box to see it.
Thank You So Much and i found the your Video & Great Instructions! My Daughter & I made Ceral Boxes To Watch Eclipse Here In Michigan! Thank you so much!! Deeply appreciated !
Thanks, Wes! Didn't find solar glasses before they were sold out everywhere. It took me about 5 min to make the viewer--took me back to elementary science projects.
Lakeland, FL.....80% here. I tested this cereal box method and it worked for the sun now at 9:17 am. Crossing my fingers it will work for the eclipse this afternoon.
This is by far, the clearest and easiest video on how to make this pinhole camera. I love how you show every step. Could you do the same for putting something over the camera lens?
I followed your instructions and put a nail hole but the image was very blurry. I got a pin and made several holes and the images were clear and focused. Thanks for the instructions!
the point is, to not look directly at the sun - not ever, but ppl tend to want to look during an eclipse. the shadow of the sun is perfectly safe- again, the shadow of the sun is perfectly safe! turn your back to the sun, and use this cereal box method or a show box or whatever works best for you!! ENJOY!!
Hi Wes enjoyed the video! I've been trying to find a solar cover for my camera and have not been successful. Where did you happen to get yours from and is it ISO 12312-2 complient? Thank you!
Here for the April 8 ‘24 eclipse in Springfield Missouri! God bless❤️ anyone else??
Just made mine out of a club crackers box 😭
Your video is still working wonders 6 years later. We’re having a solar eclipse tomorrow morning here in Oregon ❤❤❤
Thank you! I will use this for the Total Eclipse for April 2024.

Omg! Its working😯😍 thank you so much 😊😘
My school won't let anyone go outside and will put my school on lock down during the eclipse
FLL aviation central that is to protect you from all the people the eclipse turns into zombies .
FLL aviation central that sucks
Damn our school bought glasses for us and are taking everyone outside to the football stadium
then don't go to school on monday
That sucks. But it's so that in case some idiot looks directly into the sun and goes blind, the school won't be sued.
Thank you , I will make one for the next solar eclipse on june 21st. 2020.
Thank you.
just made my cereal box viewer, I've got a front row seat on my mountain
Nice! I made one, too. We are viewing from the band of totality in Georgia.
Thanks!
Sweet! I made one, I'm lucky I don't have school
Alexis Bell same
Alexis, what do you do with the bottom of the box ??
I left it alone, only cut the top the way he showed :)
Alexis Bell same. My school starts in September
Josh Andress you are a savage. I'd do the same thing.
Good Good Job !!!
