- This recording of John Goss’ well-known piece was made by the choir of St Paul’s Cathedral, directed by John Scott, in 1991.
John Goss (1800-1880) was a professor at the Royal Academy of Music and Organist of St Paul’s Cathedral from 1838-1872, when he was succeeded by John Stainer. He is probably best known for composing the hymn tunes “Praise, my soul, the king of heaven” and “See, amid the winter’s snow”.
