I was actually just reminded today that as a child, I was afraid of this song because it played when you hit the radio button on my older brother’s toy car that I was subsequently afraid of. What a fun song cover though!
I wouldn’t say it was influential to third wave, knowing those bands influences. I would say that this song sought influence from the 2-tone scene. People forget that most of those bands were heavily involved making new wave, which is right where this song sits.
@@SkaTuneNetwork yeah. I would have to agree with you. I found good music in 1981 (8 years old). I had no idea my favorite music was 'new wave' at the time, just that it was good. It just hit me this time how you, with your recreation, in your wonderful creativity, caught what younger me heard in this song in my first several listens, that I had completely forgotten about over the years. But I would not call it directly into the third wave, but rather solid new wave sort of proto Ska. I can, now, think of other bands at the time that pulled it off. It was a great time to love music, and I really appreciate what you did with it in the here and now. I tip my hat for sure!
I first listened to this song in 1998, and I was very into ska punk. I always thought about a ska version of it. It took 25 years to finally listen to it. Thank you.
Love itttt. But also legitimately watching you bop around in these videos makes me EXHAUSTED. How do you do it, that is so much jumping around. Am I just that old?
Absolutely love this cover, really good song for the horns. Side question for anybody else in the comments, because it's bugging me like crazy, what other song does the drum intro sound like? Pretty sure it's another song that goes right into the bass, just with a different bass line
The og song alone was already upbeat enough, then you pull this out. You're pushing the limits of good times Jer! That being said, if you were a fan or even remember the old show clone high from 20 years ago, it's coming back in 2023! And a lot of the soundtrack for that show was emo, metal, some catch 22 and other alt bands. Would be cool to hear some Abandoned Pool's covers for the shows release next year. They did the theme song and had a lot of reoccurring situational songs as a parody of teen dramas of the early 2000's would constantly use the same motif.
@@Darkened_Void I don't know. Does it matter? I was talking about my own feelings and the trans genocide in America. They do play with We Are The Union who have trans members.
@@br1na332 IMHO it doesn't matter at all. I don't judge people because of their choices, I prefer to focus on their actions. If I asked it was just because I was curious why you mentioned it.
@@Darkened_Void Awesome scenes. That's wonderful. It's not a choice, other than to live as our authentic selves in a hostile world, but yeah. All the best x
Hey Sak Tune Network, I love all your songs. I was wondering though, if it's possible, could you do a ska punk cover of Billy Idol's Dancing With Myself? I've been searching all over for a ska cover of that and I haven't found anything. Even if you can't do a cover of that, keep up the great work anyway!
@@SkaTuneNetwork Having spotted a FIF poster in the corner of an ooold video, I had a moment of "Wait, what's on the shirt they're wearing?" Then I got to read it, and chuckled, since the answer is probably "play some ska." 🤘
@@SkaTuneNetwork In my eyes they were. Skacore is what killed Ska in the late 90's because there were so many bad Bosstones wannabes. Anyway this version is hardly original. I like real Ska like the Skatalites and Prince Buster. Listen to Skacore horn sections loud and no harmonies. Listen to the Allston Beat by the Allstonians. Now they were a Ska band with excellent musicians and songwriting!
A ska cover of any song instantly turns it into a happy song, but to take a happy song and do a ska cover of it equals happiness overload!
Listen to Kicked in the Head - I Want You Dead. Def not happy
Every time you come out with a new song I go "damn that's their best one yet" and then the next one comes out and blows me away again
You made this completely your own yet stayed true to the glorious original. What a tour de force!
Never realized that this song is perfect for Ska
You might be the most talented person we have ever come across. Wow, JUST WOW.
This dude captured the that ska 90s vibe perfectly! The styles in the background, the wind instruments, vocals etc
This feels right
it do be feelin' good.
I'm 100% shocked it took this long for a good ska cover of this to be made, but here we are and once again you're absolutely killing it!
For a while now I’ve thought a ska cover of this song could sound really cool - I so glad you covered it!!
Thanks for sharing your joy- WE'RE walkin on sunshine! Whoohoho
I’m walking on Skashine !!!

I had never considered that this song was proto Ska. But you just proved, in the best way possible, that it was. Great job!
Def an influential song for Third Wave stuff in the 90s.

Ghotti Hook proved this a while ago.
I’ve always wanted to turn this into a ska cover, thank you so much. Next one for me would be: under the sea from little mermaid
Suburban Legends do a great cover of Under the Sea!

Holy shit, I always thought this song was from the 90s!
He waited for you, Fry.

At first I was thinking "isn't this song like ska before ska?" Then that chorus hit bruh......

ska covers are my happy place
You're such a good ska performer that your songs trigger nostalgia for my high school days in the early 2000s, despite being made 20 years later.
You made me feel the way I felt when I heard it for the first time :)

I love this song and I love you, but this is naff. Surely you can add something or make it better or just admit parity through intimation?
