I like how your name fits that comment so well. And yeah, the music really does fit the mood perfectly; I first played this game when I was about 8 or 9 years old in the early 2000s (slow internet, super slow computer, no ADSL filter to prevent family arguments, those were the days) and I remember finding the music absolutely mesmerising but I never realised how ominous it was until recently, it's like the song is telling you to be scared but you're not quite sure what you're supposed to be afraid of.

I think it's fitting that the Telescope theme sounds ominous and even sinister. It reveals terrible things soon to pass, like the Bohrok, and even reveals Mata Nui's true face long before they revealed him in 2009.
This used to scare the living shit out of me whenever it played. Even today, I still feel a bit of a chill when playing this while doing anything related to astronomy.
To me it's more mysterious, during the first 4 Mata Nui stories we were given very little insight into the backstory of the world that Bionicle is set in, so their history was something of a mystery, and the only clues about their history were on the vague inscriptions on that telescope, but also in the stars. Props to the writers; they really knew how to put emphasis on the mysterious elements.
@@MythicSuns And the designers. A lot of what you see in this game is more a testament to Templar Studios than the BIONICLE Story Team I feel. Maybe I could be wrong. They probably did communicate a lot though. But I don't know how much that lot is.
Before we knew what that red star really were, everyone can agree that this is one of the creepiest music from Bionicle, just giving everyone chills. It gets even more terrifying if you put on the music while you're in your or anyones bedroom at night sleeping. Mata Nui this is one good but creepy soundtrack
I can cite this game and this specific moment, peering through the telescope and reading the stars, as being the thing that made me realise destiny was a terrifying thing to think about. The future has already been planned, we just need to wait for it to happen, and anything bad coming CANNOT be prevented...
Even being at the telescope gives me the feeling that it wasn't created by the Matoran, which was later on confirmed with the story. It's the only structure that the Bohrok left untouched, though I'm not entirely sure if Kini Nui has the same treatment
Kini Nui was a part of the GSR (it's navigation system if I recall correctly), but the Matoran constructed additional sites of worship and monuments at it which the Bohrok destroyed.
Definitely eerie, especially for what’s basically a game meant to sell toys (MNOG is still awesome despite all that) Looking up at the void, seeing that distant and lonely Red Star. It almost gives you the feeling that you’re being watched.
In case you still want an answer: The composer for the Templar Bionicle games was Justin Luchter. I believe this is his Twitter account: twitter.com/ControlCentral1
Its one of those tracks that gets more and more powerful once you realise that 2 of the constellations on the platform that the telescope stands on predict events in the Bionicle story that wouldn't happen until much further into the future. First there was the Bohrok horde being unleashed 1 year after the game was released, and then there was the great Mata Nui robot coming to life more than 5 years after the game was released. That's some pretty damn impressive storytelling for something that was just built as a basic flash game to sell Lego.
After growing up on this game, and specifically seeing the red stars intended purpose revealed, this track has become extremely eerie and almost a bit melancholy. Weird to think it was planned from the start. Hail the anti-death machine. Pray that your body isn't beyond recovery.
You really don't get the full effect of this in the game, though it still sounds creepy there. Here it's in better sound. I really like how the sound moves from one side to the other. Listening with headphones it becomes almost hypnotic.
The music definitely fits with how much mystery there was to the red star before we knew it’s purpose

Not to mention the red star. The zombie station itself.

who else loves ambient music all these years later from hearing this as a kid
I do! Creepy yet nostalgic. So weird. Here we can now get the full effect with better sound quality and interesting stereo effects!

Ah okay. Thanks it makes sense know.
Mata Nut?
A perverted Turaga?
Ominous yet insistant. 'Look into the sky to see what is yet to come...if you dare' sorta vibe.
I wonder where this composer is at right now? For a point and click adventure web game, this was some pretty impressive compositional work.

I wish the years where we would gone to Bota Magna and the Red Star were done. Always wondered what was on the Red Star.
This sounds like something you'd hear in Skyrim
You can't get any more "Myst" than this.

With the choir and the deep ambience, this track sounds like something straight out of Subnautica.
Why is this so good?
Perfect for a horror game
Such a gorgeous ambient track.
Astronomers when they look through a telescope and hope they don't see some shit that will destroy Earth:
Same vibes as looking down underwater, or up at the night sky
Really fits the mood for the series.
Red Star...?
Now I know where The Fountain main tune comes from. I mean, can you hear that? 0:58
This needs to be extended to like 10 hours. Someone, please get on that!
I could try.
You can right click a TH-cam video to get a loop option, if that helps any.
Someone needs to make an endless music generation software that uses sounds from BIONICLE. For live stream background music use and such.
Reminds me of the bunker theme from Mass Effect 1.
It sort of reminds me of "Padmé's Ruminations" from Star Wars. I guess it's a style used somewhat often.
Very Mystery and so good. Thanks
I never did get around to playing MNOG, and now flash is kaput. Hopefully I can find it archived somewhere in a playable form.
Biomedia Archive.
Goood but it compresses very roughly
I think that's unfortunately how it mostly is in the game too :(
I love how the sound moves from side to side here! It's almost hypnotic. 😯
This makes Minecraft cave noises sound pathetic.
