Spots become visible becouse when you use small aperture light falling on dust on your sensor is very narrow and causes hard shadow. Although when you use for example f2,8 light rays hits dust from different angles - light falling on that participle is very wide.

Closing your aperture means "more" DOF... this also affects dust on the lens which appears more "sharp" which results in visible spots.

    Superb tutorial.
I'm not sure about the necessity of extra-long exposure for this particular shot, though.

At the very end under Lens Correction, it would have been the perfect touch to go under MANUAL and help get rid of the dark corners of the image, other than that, the picture is FANTASTIC!

Also, how important is it to use a lens hood when you use a very strong nd filter? I ask, because I am thinking of buying a 77mm filter for one lens and would want to use it on other lenses with smaller filter sizes, using a step-down ring. The thing is, the lens hoods on the smaller lenses would not be big enough to accomodate the large filter.

I'm new to long exposure photography - so when you said you used a ND 1200 filter or ND 12 filter - what does that mean? And why can't I find one on Amazon or B & H?

+drkucalo1 the filter is about stops. 10 or 12 stops. I use a Hoya ND 400 9 stop and it works perfectly.

+drkucalo1 I think he was talking about the Haida PRO II Multi-Coated ND 3.6 4000X 12 Stops, because I haven't seen any Hoya 12 stop filter www.amazon.com/Haida-Multi-Coated-Optical-Neutral-Density/dp/B010ECIXNE/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1455920111&sr=8-8&keywords=Hoya+ND+filter+12+stops

I really love your works and your tutorials. I just found out a new style of color on Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/hamadahideaki/
Could you make a tutorial for this one? This type of color so freshness and playful, especially for kids and family! Thanks a lot and have a great day sir!
