26:20 If you're wary of submarines, the film Das Boot will terrify you - which, by the way, used literally the same U-boat prop that you can see here. They were filmed at the same time, and the Raiders production borrowed it for this scene.
1. While filming in Tunisia most of the cast got food poisoning and Ford actually got diarrhea from it. and was very ill. The scene where he shoots the guy was supposed to be a long fight scene but Ford was feeling so bad and it was terribly hot so he basically said, "The hell with this" and just shot the guy. LOL 2. Karen Allen played Boone's squeeze in "Animal House" HINT HINT 3. You need to do the next one. It's not the best of the bunch but it's adventurous. Willy is a pain in the ass though. 4. Two overlooked Harrison Ford movies worth a first time/share are: "Witness" and "Force 10 From Navarone" 5. There's no way he could have swam between those two boats underway. 6. The ride at Disneyland is pretty cool. Make sure it's one of your first to get it out of the way and before the line gets too long. Adventureland.
I do think they filmed in Egypt, just in a small town away from Cairo, because it was cheaper, and way easier to get people to take down their TV antennas for the 1930s era shots.
I remember I went to a navy museum which had a WW2 sub. It was tiny inside and the bunks were so small that it was fairly frequent that the seaman would wake up screaming because he though he was buried alive.
The sub was also used in the greatest sub movie ever made, "Das Boot", which was being filmed at the same time, and the filmmakers were able to borrow it while filming Raiders.
Spielberg and Lucas both grew up on adventure serials and films. They wanted to make a movie that reminded them of the old TV serials and films from their childhood. I remember seeing this film when it opened and just enthralled with the set pieces and the story. Supposedly there's a real guy that it's very loosely based on (movie is fiction), more like the spirit of what the real explorer was about. Enjoyed your watch. I had forgotten how many jump scares there were in the movie!
It wasn't sand. It was more like ashes. The artifacts burned up inside the Ark in the ship's cargo hold. Remember when the heat burned the swastika off the crate? It was done (by you know who...same fella who told Moses and Aaron how to build the Ark) to keep the relics out of Nazi hands.
You know I've watched this film about 20 times over the years, and not once did it occur to me that Indy was wearing a leather jacket in a scorching desert 😂👍
the sword/gun scene is one of the greatest. movies too often time engage in these drawn out things when one of them has the ability to end it quickly. actually doing it was brilliant.

I only learned this today but you know the ball trap? That's based on and inspired by a Donald Duck comic written and illustrated by Carl Barks. he's literally a artistic genius in the history of American comics. He inspired Osamu Tezuka (the creator of Astro Boy) to get into drawing - and it all started by an American soldier hearing Tezuka playing piano music and then responding with opera. They sat down and had a chat and the soldier brought him a bunch of American comics the next day that had a lot of Carl Barks work in it.
The Picture they show of the Ark being opened in the book is a real event in the bible. The Philistines, took the Ark from the Jews as a prize from victory. They paraded around their city blocks, until they reached the center of their city's square. With Large groups of on lookers, waiting for the Ark to be opened. They figured there was treasure inside.. So at some point they opened the Ark at the city's center. There was a large flash of light, that went across a good part of the city. People started to drop and get Sick, all that were at the opening had boils and tumors all over them. There is no account if they died, but the effect sounds pretty much like death was coming next. Plus there is no Time event, from opening to when they got sickened. So you could imagine, how fast they returned this Ark back to the Jews. People back then called it judgment, due to the 3 items that are inside the Ark. "Rod of Arron" "Gold pot with Manna" "Commandments" 1. Rod of Arron =Staff that causes life from baroness. 2. Gold Pot of Manna = piece of the Body of God. Most churches today call it the body of Christ, and everyone eats that wafer. 3. Commandments = Laws of Judgement. which today, some to many humans try to live by somewhat. "what we call morals/common sense" If you ask me what was inside the Ark: I think because of the type of sickness, it had to be something highly Radioactive. By opening it, it reacted to outside elements causing the flash. Or, Maybe God just said "take this!"
As someone who doesn't believe reality is filled with supernatural and mystical stuff, i always took the magic in the Indy moves for just that. Exciting adventure, based on old myths, legends and magic, just like the pulpy Mummy movies of the 1930's, Clash of the Titans, Thor, etc.
@@trekkiejunk The bible described the sicknesses. putting my logical mind to what causes these sicknesses at a fast or slow rate, would be radiation. This Ark was carried everywhere, and on it's travels would have been tossed around. If they had radioactive material inside, and it was banging around. it might react to opening it up. Sense there's no time line of the illnesses. It could have been some form of plague inside the ark. If your the biblically person, one would say the items inside did it. The movies took it to another level. If they wanted to get it right, the Nazis should have fell I'll and dropped to the ground with boils all over them. The bible tells you what to wear as the opener. What's funny about this is, the outfit it describes might be enough to block enough radiation. This would make sense to tell the opener to wear this and don't touch the sides of the ark. If i was to believe the Ark is real in it's power. Then i don't see the Ark discriminating, on which side opens its. The Ark will wipe out both sides, on the field of battle. So you open the Ark to kill your enemy, but the Ark will also kill your troops and you.
Spielberg wanted to "do 'James Bond," while Lucas recalled 1930's movie serials. With their second choice lead actor, another franchise was launched and Harrison Ford became "Dr. Henry Jones, Jr." With enough action for THREE movies, "Raiders" hit the theaters as hard as "Star Wars" did, convincing a generation of college students to "dig in the dirt" as Archeology became a cool profession. Let's go to Kauai, which stood in for "South America, 1936" with Fedora and bullwhip in hand...;) Alfred Molina's first major movie role. Actor Vic Tablian "gets killed with poison darts in South America," then is the "patch-eyed Nazi monkey owner in Egypt." Do you want to "do a U-Boat"? Play this 1992 LucasArts game: th-cam.com/video/LZZXJ3zCRDQ/w-d-xo.html
Classic adventure film, you will never see anything like it (and the two immediate sequels) ever again. Hollywood would just vomit a CGI mess these days. Fun Fact: The famous scene in which Indy shoots a marauding and flamboyant swordsman was not in the original script. Harrison Ford was supposed to use his whip to get the sword out of his attacker's hands, but the food poisoning he and the rest of the crew had gotten made him too sick to perform the stunt. After several unsuccessful tries, Ford suggested he just shoot the guy. Steven Spielberg immediately took him up on the idea, and the scene was successfully filmed. Bonus Fact: No serious archaeologist believes the Ark Of The Covenant is in Tanis. In fact, it's a known fact that it is in Ethiopia. I suggest watching the documentary here on TH-cam. You can easily find it.
Actually, not only is that NOT "a known fact," but it's not even considered likely. There is ZERO credible evidence that the Ark of the Covenant even existed, let alone survived. If it ever existed, it would have likely been melted down by one of the many, many peoples that have conquered the ancient Hebrews.

was supposed to be a long fight scene but Ford was feeling so bad and it was terribly hot so he basically said, "The hell with this" and just shot the guy. LOL
2. Karen Allen played Boone's squeeze in "Animal House" HINT HINT
3. You need to do the next one. It's not the best of the bunch but it's adventurous. Willy is a pain in the ass though.
4. Two overlooked Harrison Ford movies worth a first time/share are: "Witness" and "Force 10 From Navarone"
@@cowpercoles1194 Some of it might have been but IMDB is a wonderful resource.
This movie is classic but Last Crusade is my favorite of the trilogy and nobody can tell me otherwise. xD
I remember I went to a navy museum which had a WW2 sub. It was tiny inside and the bunks were so small that it was fairly frequent that the seaman would wake up screaming because he though he was buried alive.
That is terrifying
With all of that air hitting the Commandments after 3,000 years. It would be lucky too be sand in the Ark
🤣🤣🤣 he over there extra hot for no reason
Fun fact about this movie: they shot the scene of the truck explosion last because that was an actual authentic German Army Mercedes. 👍✌
To find out what's in the warehouse watch Indiana Jones IV crystal skull
There is no Indiana Jones IV. The Last Crusade was the final Indy movie. Someone lied to you.
@trekkiejunk6322 I didn't say it was a great movie I said you can see what's in the warehouse .learn to read before you bash clown
the sword/gun scene is one of the greatest. movies too often time engage in these drawn out things when one of them has the ability to end it quickly. actually doing it was brilliant.
When you watch INDY JONES 4 CRYSTAL SKULLS, you'll see a return of that warehouse. Lotsa fun.
Crystal Skulls? There's only 3 Indiana Jones movies. Everyone knows that.
2:19 I think bats were flying out of that idol, scary stuff, hate bats! Love your big concerned puppy there checkin up on his dad.
They always check on me. They’re good boys
17:46 *torch are being thrown into the bottom of a well revealing a snake-filled floor* "What are those???" *EOM shakes his head* "You know that bullsh*t I was talking about?" *EOM points to the snakes* "That's some bullsh*t RIGHT there!"
If you haven't seen his Temple of Doom reaction, the dinner scene is the best thing ever. LoL
🤣🤣🤣 I’m telling you I wouldn’t do it
Really looking forward to Temple of Doom
I am SO glad I found your channel, looking through your playlists you have covered a lot of my favorite movies! ❤
I first saw this movie when I was 10 and thought it was so much fun. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Indiana stayed running!! 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 track star
Indiana Jones was no Jedi, but he was Han Solo. GREAT MOVIE.
Facts
I only learned this today but you know the ball trap?
That's based on and inspired by a Donald Duck comic written and illustrated by Carl Barks. he's literally a artistic genius in the history of American comics. He inspired Osamu Tezuka (the creator of Astro Boy) to get into drawing - and it all started by an American soldier hearing Tezuka playing piano music and then responding with opera. They sat down and had a chat and the soldier brought him a bunch of American comics the next day that had a lot of Carl Barks work in it.
Did you notice Gimli in this movie?
11:49 "Hey I know that's 'Heil Hitler' but that was cute that the monkey did it."
Count Dankula approves this reaction comment.
Lol thank you for your approval sir
"Rod of Arron" "Gold pot with Manna" "Commandments"
"what we call morals/common sense"
If you ask me what was inside the Ark: I think because of the type of sickness, it had to be something highly Radioactive.
Dude, you crack me up with your reactions! :D So much enjoyment "rewatching" these movies with your reactions and commentary on top.
I greatly appreciate that. Glad you been enjoying
@@J_EOMReacts Yeah man. Been basically binge watching your uploads :) Keep up the great work! Love genuine reactions and funny commentary!
Correction: it's a well known fact that the Ark of the Covenant is in Area 51 😄
Actually, not only is that NOT "a known fact," but it's not even considered likely. There is ZERO credible evidence that the Ark of the Covenant even existed, let alone survived. If it ever existed, it would have likely been melted down by one of the many, many peoples that have conquered the ancient Hebrews.
26:34 Then I recommend _The Hunt for Red October_ (1990).
It’s on my to watch list
your reaction is great
Much appreciated as always
I truly appreciate that
Glad I found you again. I thought I’d subscribed before you not sure what happened. I enjoy your stuff. May your views and likes always be equal.

20:34 "Find sh*t like that would be so f***ing cool"

🤣🤣🤣 I’m love thru Indiana
“Lawrence Of Arabia”
Maybe the most beautiful movie ever filmed, definitely top 5.
Temple of doom now. Let’s go
The color purple would be a great movie for you. You may have seen it.
I’ve never seen it
Great reaction, JL !!!
Thank you
@@J_EOMReacts You're welcome, man.
"I've done my research and It's something I don't wanna f*ck with" 😂😂
If you are ever in Portsmouth, NH - they have a legit, retired US Navy sub (still pretty modern) that you can check out. Just an FYI. 😉
