    I’m definitely in the group that loves this song, such a great track! Very Michael Schenker inspired main riff, great tune.

      "Inspired" it's an euphemism.. That's a total rip-off mate! Kudos to the one and only Master Schenker 🤘🤘

      @@lifeisnice23 - I think it’s hilarious that you left a thumbs up for your own comment. 😂 I think Schenker is awesome too but I dig this heavily influenced tribute to his masterpiece as well and it fits so well with the album as a whole. Have a great day!

    I struggled with this years and years ago. Then a few years back I learned the Wasted Years solo and the same sort of technique you talk about is used twice there and it clicked for me, so I went back and tried it and wouldn't you know it, it sounded spot on. Good to see someone validate that for me.

    One of my favorites off Powerslave. I'm a big fan of a lot of their deep cuts and I can't think of a better track that highlights why that is. A lot of their deep cuts have sections and dynamics that step out of their norm and I think that's why some of them can be considered as polarizing as you pointed out. I've never attempted this one but I'll have to have a try at it. Gotta be up there with one of their trickiest songs guitar wise. Apparently Adrian played this one live in his Untouchables outfit with him also on vocals which I would love to hear. There is a recording of the doing Wasted Years with him on vocals though which is pure gold! I think the fact that you were playing this "incorrectly" and you had to analyze the song and Adrian's general approach to guitar playing in general to help you figure out the "correct" way of playing it speaks volumes to the complexity and nuance of this track. Really interesting video man 👍

      Probably... I loved it from the first time I heard it as well but it was only just starting out on guitar at the time. I think that is very common for artist to do, use a portion of one piece in another piece as well, I think it's all about the creative process 😀 I deff prescribed, slowing it down is very cool 😎 that's the key with Maiden, it's all just small little sections, if you look at it any other way, they seem daunting to understand, those Ibanez Destroyers are very expensive 😀 from: Scranton, Pennsylvania

    I used to play the drums, but also always loved Back in the Village. I mean, it is so freaking fast, melodic, great fun. I would expect most metal players to like things fast! Aces High is fine, but way overplayed. How cool would it have been for Maiden to kick off some gigs of their World Slavery Tour with Back in the Village, then Powerslave, then Prisoner…😁🤘🏻

      @LicksOfTheBeast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's really awesome to hear! This kind of pattern is deceptively simple and it's normal to have to start slow even if you're an experienced player 🙂
      And yes, it's a cool thing when you can see the progression of a player's style. Adrian played with pedal point legato licks like this from NOTB with the prisoner, gangland, to tame a land, aces high, losfer words, back in the village, powerslave, wasted years... then he comes back with Wicker Man... It's an interesting progression for sure!

      @@timp.9582 There are definitely two guitar parts at least but it could be Adrian just dubbed himself in the studio.
