    The Marin Bobcat Trail 3 is a lot of bike for the money. I have a medium 27.5" in blue, and I love the geometry. It's the perfect combination for riding around town, trail riding, and the easy to medium downhill trails at Spider Mountain in Burnet TX. The only upgrade I really want is a dropper post for mountain and technical trail riding.

To be fair this is my first new bike in over a decade, so I don't have a lot of experience with other newer bikes to compare it to, but I cant imagine any other bike in this price point being much better. That’s a sharp looking bike. If people are over marketed by boost only let me tell replace your rear skewer with and shimano xt. I would always flex my wheel into the lower chainstay under power. Even running a race face with flat blade spokes. Installed that xt skewer and you wouldn’t know if it was boost or q9.
    -what I find funny is the industry charges more for less with a 1x. Yeah I like them but rack it up and bike camp etc 2x will be excellent. Especially if you spring for a clutch derailleur and a rear cassette with at least a 42 and up. That head tube looks like it would take the head set to use a tapered fork.
    -I personally would go wildcat for a house wheel you’ll see stiffer and less chance of braking spokes on a 27.5. Since I’m a 6-1/5” 230lb man running a large frame. Well done on your reviews and let the buyers know that the internal dropper ports are a nice feature but can always run “external” dropper post. Well done sir thank you!

    I'm 5.7 and got the Bot cat Trail 3 large , wasn't too sure what size to get because I got it online , I guess if I cut the seat post down a bit it would probably make it easier to ride , I have rather long arms . Was only 500 on sale . I would of gone medium if they had them that size . But they only had large . I think ill get use to it tho .

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop
      @BikeBrosBikeShop  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's probably a bit big, but yes it is very common on Marins that the seatpost has to be cut to adjust seat height down to appropriate height... very long stock seat posts and fairly high water bottle Mounts on the seat tube

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop
      @BikeBrosBikeShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would check: a) at the local Marin dealer, who if they don't have the right hanger should be able to get it through Marin or one of the after-market makers of hangers (Wheels Manufacturing, NSBillet etc) which are available in most countries through popular distributors that shops deal with, b)a non-Marin dealer should have access to the same distributors (just not through Marin directly). I would suggest taking your bike or your hanger when you go to the shop because there can be confusion of which hanger belongs to which bike and not very good parts naming/compatibility in the bike world.

    Disadvantage/s of a non tapered head tube? thank you 🙏

    • @BikeBrosBikeShop
      @BikeBrosBikeShop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tapered headtubes/steertubes adds stiffness to the bike's front end. There are very few bikes with tapered headtubes/steertubes under about $1200 and I think that is fine because it is a feature that only becomes noticable when a bike is ridden more aggressively than I imagine anyone who buys this bike, and a number of the other components would become limiting factors as well. The fork, brakes, and drivetrain would each be struggling to keep up at the point the straight steer tube became at all apparent. The biggest thing with the straight steer tube is that there really aren't any upgrade forks available with straight steer tubes and some people do like turning these sorts of bikes into upgrade projects for the fun of it. It is possible with external headset cups to add a tapered steertube fork.

    how would this bike compare to the talon 1? Im just starting off mountain biking and my budget is around 1000$ so I was wondering what would be the better option for me. Im looking for a air fork particularly because my weight is below average and really at the 900-1000$ price point the only proven bike brand that offers a air fork is giant with the talon one so thats why i'm leaning more towards that.

      Hi, both great bikes and this year if you're lucky enough to find one, it will be the right choice. The Talon is cheaper. The Bobcat has a longer travel fork and a bit more progressive geometry (which matters if the bike is used more on actual mountain bike trails). Realistically the differences are subtle enough that if you love the brand or looks of either, then you'll be happy with it.
