I put this in my truck a couple months ago. Its pretty nice but was a bit buggy in the beginning. The support from them isnt bad and they have worked to address the issues i've had.
That’s great to hear! I’m glad you had a good experience with it so far as well. Dave’s only had it in his truck for a little over a month now, and the only issues he’s having is a bit of feedback when using the Bluetooth for phone calls. Something he’s working on adjusting.
Looks awesome! You made the install seem so easy. Good to have a reference video, if needed. Thanks for sharing. Love how you guys always put some chuckles in your videos.😊
Almost did the same thing with full replacement. Had the same issues with the ghost touches, found the replacement touch screen on Amazon for $35 and about 40 minutes worth of work and its perfect again.
The problem is flickering between screens doesn’t necessarily go away because it’s an issue with the truck’s computer, but the flickering definitely does not affect the new headunit because it acts as a bypass to be original radio system.
My question is … when you remote start the truck will the new head unit allow you set the parameters of what you want it to do when remote start is engaged, such as turn on/off your heated seats ?
I absolutely love the head unit. I subscribe to Onstar does it work well or at all with onstar. I use it to do the navigation turn by turn feature from the app. Does the headunit work ?
Just looked through your videos and it appears Dave never posted the follow up video. It's been over a year now, how does he like the upgrade? Pros and cons?
Will the heated steering wheel work after? There is one like the ram had which made compatible w gm only thing was heated steering wheel wouldn't work.
Huge appreciation for the video, my 2018 has the same flickering issue and sometime will randomly call people or change my music or get me directions to Peru (one time). Did the new head unit fix your issue? Also, were there issues connecting your phone via usb to use CarPlay and keep your phone charged? Mine also has these issue
Perfectly so far! Still installed on Dave’s truck for over a year, and he’s loving it. We’re planning an update video, but in the meantime time you’ll see it in a few other videos featuring his truck that we’ve published lately.
Do you have the factory bose system if not does it integrate with it because I've heard horror stories of people with the bose radio and aftermarket stuff
No, we do not, Dave’s truck is a Z71 LT model, and did not come with the Bose system. That might be a question more better directed towards the manufacture.
So it will work with Bose stock system? I know on the linkswell unit you have to purchase another harness if your truck has a Bose system in it stock. Ready to pull the trigger on this unit but want to make sure it will work with my Bose system
I like this but I think I want one that keeps the ac the way it was like you said. They do make some 10 inch screens that do that. I guess I will go with that option instead.
About the same, but the quality of the audio wasn’t why we did the upgrade. The added apple car play was one of the greatest benefits. The original screen would change and do things on its own as well. This replacement stopped that. Hey guys, have a quick question. I want to see if you guys can help. I bought the unit by watching you guys video I installed it but the only thing the backup camera is not working and the radio doesn’t show me the factory radio on my screen and how do you guys get everything to come out from the speakers and not that little speaker they give us if you guys can help thanks.
It's held up well! Dave is currently planning a 1 year update video for this headunit, and be on the look out for our latest video dropping this week where you can see he still has it installed and it's working well.
For some reason I hooked up my unit and I don’t have Bluetooth option on the dash and when I play music on the unit it’s not switching over to music. It gives me satellite and am/fm
Ok so I just installed it…and I’m pretty disappointed. It seems to take long to connect to Apple play. And not only that..there’s times where it won’t play the music on my Spotify. It just plays what ever is on the radio. Pretty frustrating. And I can’t even raise/ lower the volume.
The quality of the reverse camera is just a little less than the quality was from OEM stock. The brightness is also just a little less than the OEM version.
1. So, did the steering wheel controls work after installing the cable? U guys cut that part out. 2. What did u do to get the audio working? You guys cut that part out too. I've read other comments about the audio no playing after installation.
How does it work with the stock hands free calling, the microphone portion? Does it have its own external mic you have to install or does it work with the factory mic?
I just installed the 14.5 inch android radio in my 2016 Silverado. Everything looked great at start, even steering controls are fine but when I connected my phone to CarPlay, I get no sound from any CarPlay app. They show that they are playing but not sound. Checking my phone, it connect with Bluetooth and then most time shows disconnected but CarPlay is still on the screen. Now the open door indicators are reversed? Any chance this can be caused by picking the wrong choice when trying to get the screen centered? (GM has 9 modes to choose from)
Check to verify that you’re using the aux input from the audio selection, and that you have the aux cord that was supplied in the kit plugged into the aux port, located in your jumpseat or in your center consul, depending on the model truck you have. The new radio acts as if it’s a auxiliary input. If you have an LT trim model truck you should have the option to select the aux inputting from the dash computer. We hope that works.
Hey brother love the video I just installed mine and am having issues hearing TH-cam videos/movies with the apps on the unit but I can hear music just fine through apple car play, any ideas?
Sorry you’re having a trouble, not sure we can help you with that. You may have to reach out directly to the manufacturer. We actually have not tried to use TH-cam videos on that screen.
Were you able to have this fixed? Would love to watch TH-cam on this if I buy one. Still contemplating and a little worried about some reviews. Hope they start fixing this kinks before they sell new ones.
@@therealosea yeah I had a certain wire in the wrong socket, and you also need to plug in the six cord in the center console, and I also had a problem where the unit was outdated so I had one of there workers send me a update file that I had to plug into the usb wire that came with the unit so it’s a hassle but once it’s all working you shouldn’t have any more problems again

Not even really that fast compared to stock temperature knob you can go from HI to Low in two cranks of the knob normal speed on this one it take like 4-6
We are quite sure about that, there are analog audio and video inputs on the back of the unit, but this might be a question that’s better directed towards the manufacture
So my screen is saying, needs update, they told me my hmi needs to be replace and it's going to cost me 2k. I found one online for 700. But I was wondering, could I bypass the hmi by just updating my screen to one of these?
There are quite a few variables with what you’re asking. Not knowing the root cause of the issue with your truck, and not knowing anything about the screen you found on Amazon (which is most likely different from this one) it’s hard to say if this would help. The kind of radio replacement we installed here, acts as a sort of aux bypass to the main system. If you can control the trucks, audio inputs from the screen on the instrument cluster there’s a good chance that you could bypass the issue with your truck’s, current radio and set your truck to use auxiliary audio which is how this radio replacement is used, controlled, and accessed.
@TheBrothersWorkshop I can control the cluster on my dash with the steering wheel controls but sometimes they don't work unless I hit the power button on the dead screen. I think I'm going to replace my hmi with a used one and have it reprogrammed, and once all my issues are resolved, I will update you to the exact info screen you did. Thank you

@@TheBrothersWorkshop I was referring to "HEYINCAR CarPlay Smart Ai Box Plus Android 11 Wireless CarPlay Android Auto TH-cam Netflix IPTV Adapter Car Intelligent System"
Hard to say. If it’s the new body style truck you’ll need a different version of this headunit specific to that truck. You should be able to check the website to see if they have an option for you.
Make sure the aux cord they supplied you with is plugged into the aux port. This unit acts like a bypass to the original radio and uses the aux to do that. If you’ve already tried that you’ll want to direct that question to the manufacturer. Hope this helps you!
There are audio and video jacks on the back of the unit, but we’re not sure if it’s just for back up camera/analog input, or if you can add an amplifier. We just don’t do that kind of audio stuff to our trucks anymore, so something like this is probably better suited for the manufacture.
@TheBrothersWorkshop Roger that thank you for the response anyways. I just purchased one because of yalls video. Yalls instructions were very detailed, especially with the steering wheel controls. Thank yall
We only had one issue (unit turned off and we needed to restart it by unplugging it.) after that we’ve had it for almost 2 months now with no other issues. The wireless CarPlay was the biggest change, and it’s been great to have. Verify with the manufacturer before purchasing that it will work on your 2014 truck. It seems they changed some of the language on their website to reflect it’s made for 2015 and up.
My husbands ‘15 Silverado has a messed up radio and ever time start the truck the voice “this vehicle is equipped with Onstar etc” repeatedly. How can we just disconnect onstar or would we have to replace the whole radio? That onstar lady is annoying.
My radio had phantom pushes and would randomly change stations or output without ever touching the screen. I ordered a replacement digitizer and installed it in about 10 minutes and works like new. Also 2015 silverado
@TheBrothersWorkshop - I am in the market for one of these for my '17 Sierra 1500. How is the sound quality and are there any issue with ground loop noise, or anything else that would deter buyers? I see these with 2-3 star ratings and a bunch of horror stories. A good, unbiased opinion would be much appreciated! Also curious how long it took to get set up properly with all functionality that you expected to have working.
So after installation I noticed a buzzing notice coming from the rear speakers. I'm thinking its the ground but wanted to see if anyone else had same issues?
I have two questions, did this fix the issue with the head unit changing all by itself because mines has been doing that for years and every forum I’ve been in has no definitive fix. Also did you figure out what the speaker was for?
Someone in another install video took the factory seat heat and cool switches out of the OEM piece and snapped them into the Tesla model. They are supposed to click right in.

Can this work on a 2021 Silverado 3500 hd Duramax ?
Hard to say. If it’s the new body style truck you’ll need a different version of this headunit specific to that truck. You should be able to check the website to see if they have an option for you.
i cant get the audio to work on my app like youtube it plays but no sound
Make sure the aux cord they supplied you with is plugged into the aux port. This unit acts like a bypass to the original radio and uses the aux to do that. If you’ve already tried that you’ll want to direct that question to the manufacturer. Hope this helps you!
Question. does it have the RCA jacks on the back to add an amplifier or no?
There are audio and video jacks on the back of the unit, but we’re not sure if it’s just for back up camera/analog input, or if you can add an amplifier. We just don’t do that kind of audio stuff to our trucks anymore, so something like this is probably better suited for the manufacture.
@TheBrothersWorkshop Roger that thank you for the response anyways. I just purchased one because of yalls video. Yalls instructions were very detailed, especially with the steering wheel controls. Thank yall
You’re very welcome! Let us know how you like it when you get it all installed!
Jacks are minimal but works for added sub(s). Amp you’ll have to wire separately (at least I did with a 2016 lml high country diesel)
@@joshuacampbell1471 have you had any issues with sounds or steering wheel controls?
Does the radio fm am work
It does!
These look cool at first. Had one in my wife’s Ford Edge. It is very annoying while driving at night.
Before I purchase, would you do this again? Meaning still worth it? No issues/hiccups?
Thanks in advance.
2014 GMC Sierra All Terrain owner.
I've actually never heard of anybody having that issue. I would have to look into it for you.
I am still wondering if my stock sub from the factory would still work
I'm sure if it's stuck at work. If it's aftermarket I'm not sure.
I have two questions, did this fix the issue with the head unit changing all by itself because mines has been doing that for years and every forum I’ve been in has no definitive fix. Also did you figure out what the speaker was for?
I don't know about the head unit changing issue, but the speaker is just for chimes and not needed with a correct install.
Someone in another install video took the factory seat heat and cool switches out of the OEM piece and snapped them into the Tesla model. They are supposed to click right in.
Yeah, that's exactly how it's done!
Only part you forgot to show us how to install was the final part😂, the “camsumthnig box”loll what was tht for??
