    Brilliant! I had been muddling along with towels and coats but invested in a gul changing robe this year, what a game changer! As a 'curvy' lady over fifty my robe is pretty bulky, and I have just tried the rolling into the hood technique! AMAZING! Such a simple idea but it will make such a difference. Tomorrow I am off with my swim buddy to try a new swim pool/lake that we haven't been to before and I don't know how far the walk from the car to the swim will be, now I will be able to pack my gear much more efficiently making it easier to get there 😊Thank you, Roo x

    Thanks, Rachel. I'm wearing my robe this week for the first time. Really liked the tip about folding it into the hood. I think I'll apply that to my other garments that have hoods! As someone who doesn't like to over wash clothes, I'm pleased you're getting that message across for dry robes too!

      The less time I can spend with my changing robe out of action because it is drip drying, the better. I also like to be frugal when washing clothes as I feel every was depletes or degrades them. Enjoy your robe, you’ll love it!

    Thanks for the tips. My biggest concern, as I am often a lone (but very careful!) swimmer, is how to make my dryrobe less attractive to unscrupulous passers by who might pinch it!

      Put it in a tow float and take it with you, or lock it in your car. Unless I’m dipping right next to it, I always take mine with me 🏊‍♀️😀

    New fan!!! I'm am enjoying kayaking - and looking ahead to open swimming. I live along the South Wales coastline, just outside Swansea, so it is right on my doorstep. I have the fancy hat and dry suit all ready to go. But was looking for a changing robe. Have watched all your vids. I think I am going the red original. Thanks so much for all the great advice. It is extremely encouraging to see another woman "of a certain age" doing this as a fun hobby and exercise - and not extreme triathletes! Love your practical tips x

    Thanks Rachel was wondering how I was going to manage this when the time comes. Try to towel dry before putting mine on because all my swimming is in salt water and I worry about salt on the fabric, inside and our. Love the idea of folding it into the hood

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t worry about the salt on the fabric, if it does become a little salty and crusty, turn it inside out and dive it a hose off then hang to dry. Nice using a towel one underneath, I never do, just the change robe 🏊‍♀️😀

    Can you use Nik Wax wash in waterproofer on a dryrobe or does it have to be spray on due to the inner lining ?

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably best to contact the manufacturer of your robe to see what they suggest. I haven't needed to re-proof mine yet.

    TIP: High school sewing teacher from the wilderness of 🇨🇦 here who could throw in a tip or two. Admittedly, I don’t own a changing robe but I do own a lot of outdoor gear. For outer wear, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, puffer jackets, etc (like your puffy blue changing robe)… it’s best not to store the item compressed for any length of time. One solution in the off-season (it’s very wintery here, no wild swimming or camping) is to store the item under a bed or in an old laundry hamper or big empty cardboard box. This will protect the loft and allow its materials to maintain their ability to hold air space which is what provides the warmth. I agree, Rachel, over-washing items can limit their life, and from somebody who lives on dirt roads and continuously deals with mud… brushing mud off with a soft brush when it is dry is much more effective than wetting the item and scrubbing it. This was a super helpful and informative video Rachel… I aim to get me a changing robe sometime in the future. Happy 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣ to you and all the wild swimmers watching your video today. AND Rach… you’re closing in on 10K subs… how exciting!! 🌎💦Ⓜ️ary☃️

    Can the sea salt effect the lining? Coming out of the sea if very different to the feel of river water.

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never noticed it making a difference, I just turn it inside out and hang it on a door to dry out until next time 🏊‍♀️😀

      @CrueLoaf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EverydayAthleteRach thanks for the reply. We have one each arriving tomorrow and plan to go dipping into our estuary which is salty. I was worried the Salt would stick to the lining as it is very sticky. But it prob brushes off as you say. :)

    • @EverydayAthleteRach

      I just hang it up and hope. There’s quite often still a whiff of campfire but I don’t worry too much about that. Best if it can be hung outside on a windy day though.

    I washed my swimzi robe as the inner part had gotten muddy. It’s like teddy fleece inside - is there another way to clean this rather than washing? It did T come off ‘hand brushing’ and worried about using a clothes or shoe brush as I don’t want to damage the fabric inside.
    Ps took three days to dry in the lounge so don’t want to wash it too often lol

    • @EverydayAthleteRach
      @EverydayAthleteRach  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1
