Create an Abstract Expressionist Painting with Emotion

  • Watch as I dive into the world of abstract expressionist painting on an 8"x8" canvas using acrylic paint with an earthy and mesmerizing color palette. With brushes in hand and an array of enchanting hues-light olive green (amzn.to/3C4yryc), lime green, burnt umber, yellow ochre, Payne's gray, light blue permanent, alizarin crimson, and titanium white-I do a demo of painting with self-expression and emotional exploration.
    Abstract expressionism, an artistic movement that emerged in the mid-20th century, serves as my guiding light throughout this mesmerizing artistic process. This approach allows me to break free from the constraints of traditional representation, giving birth to a dynamic and deeply personal visual language. Abstract expressionist painting embraces spontaneity, intuition, and raw emotions, which are seamlessly woven onto the canvas.
    As the video unfolds, layers of acrylic paint begin to grow on the small 8"x8" canvas. I approach each brushstroke with an intuitive sense, allowing my emotions to guide my hand and reveal hidden narratives within the chaos of colors. The light olive green, lime green, and burnt umber create a harmonious foundation, providing a sense of earthy serenity.
    Throughout the video, this abstract expressionist painting resonates deeply with nature, emphasizing the artistic style with earthy colors. Expressionism, an essential element of this movement, is evident as the colors, lines, and textures converge to form an emotional tapestry. The intuitive process, too, plays a significant role, allowing emotions to guide every artistic decision, unveiling a profound sense of authenticity.
    Join me in this mesmerizing journey as I create an abstract expressionist painting, immersing myself in the boundless realm of emotions and the infinite possibilities of acrylic paint. Witness the transformation of a blank canvas into a vibrant testament to the power of artistic self-expression, all within the confines of an intimate 8"x8" space.
    Keep on painting!

    I really like the addition of the light blue permanent at the end. I think it was a very good choice and nice surprise- works well with the colors in the painting. I also love how many of your paintings look great in various orientations. I have been experimenting with creating some intuitive abstracts lately- they are not all great paintings- but I am learning to allow myself to just play and experiment. I do end up with some decent looking pieces and it's good for me to learn to loosen up from my more precise rigidity at times.

      Thanks, Ann! It’s wonderful to hear you’re experimenting with intuitive abstracts. Allowing yourself to play and experiment is such a valuable part of the creative process. Learning to loosen up and enjoy the process is fantastic, and I’m sure you’re creating some amazing pieces along the way.❤️

    Hi Chris, what's the best way to adhere the mat frame to the back. Will spray mount be adequate? Thanks. I'm painting up 4" x 6", 5" x 7" and 8" x 10" pieces to be ready for the summer art shows, using the same frames from Amazon that you suggest. You have really inspired me and given me a broader vision. Thx!

    • @chrisloudart
      @chrisloudart  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Carole! I'm so happy to hear that! There are two ways that I do it. 1) Don't adhere it. You'll find that many artists don't connect the two. Just put them inside the sleeve together. 2) I use acid free masking tape or framer's tape. This video shows you how I do it - th-cam.com/video/TaNmfYpCtsI/w-d-xo.html Good luck this summer! I'm excited to hear how it goes. 😊
