I am from Yemen. I am a project manager and I have many supervisors who give me many orders at the same time and wanted me to do a kick off meeting just without any preparations. Thanks for you video
Great video. Love how you spelled out that the purpose of the meeting is so important and not to hold the kick-off meeting until you have done all the pre-work that needs to be done. Also love the expectations and the ability of this activity to bring learnings from other projects into the current project with respect to what you or the team expect each other to do or what not to do.
I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed this video. Kick-off meeting are extremely important and there is so much work to be done before hand so that the team and project is successful. Thanks for watching, cheers!
I totally agree that you really have to take your time with a kickoff meeting - not doing it too early before getting information and not rushing through it in only an hour! Thanks for these great kickoff meeting tips!
Thanks some much, Joy! I couldn’t agree more, a strong kick off meeting after the initial preparation for the project is key! Thanks for watching, cheers!
Managing my first implementation project next month for a large fortune 500 customer. This has been invaluable in what to expect and how to plan/organize for that first crucial meeting. Thanks Adriana.

@@AdrianaGirdler thanks for all the links and reach-outs! Have you considered doing a video of "The future of project management" - would find that very useful. I see the future role of a PM to change, with the emergence of new tech and tools, and be a far more strategic rather than administrative function.
The name kick-off meeting certainly makes it sound that way, but there are so many things that need to be in place before that happens. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Timing and purpose are good things to think about with everything in your business. You bring up so many good points when starting a kickoff meeting. Giving team members everything they need for success is a great thought!
Thank you! There is so much prep work that needs to happen before the kick off meeting to ensure the team and project is successful. Thanks for watching for for your positive feedback. Cheers!
This is a really useful video Adriana, thanks for sharing! Really like the tip about expectations and timeline because then people can be held accountable for their actions!! Will be using these for future projects!!

Jod down the expectation of project team. Things happened in past and don't want it now Activity 3. Action plan Validation and finalization. Activity 4. Finalization of action items. Activity 4. Project timeline finalization. ( can be parked) Activity 5. Must. What's gonna happen tomorrow i.e planning the days Thanks for the tips.

Hi Adriana, could you expand on examples of Activity #2, Project Team Expectations? What are examples of what the PM expects from the team and what the team expects from the PM?
Hi Monica. Expectations are really up the the PM. It’s often helpful to look back on past projects and see where expectations weren’t met and make sure they are communicated clearly with the team on future projects. For example, if team members were consistently late to meetings then one of your expectations for the next project would be that everyone is prepared and on time for every meeting. Hope this helps. Cheers!
I'm a fan of your content I really love watching them all, it's something I look forward every time. I hope we can connect and work together! Have you considered hiring a video editor?
Adriana, thanks for another great video! After the kickoff meeting, do you have any tips on how to hold people accountable for the work they've signed up to do? One thing I've found is that things that are not in the critical path, but are also important tasks tend to slip. How do you hold people accountable for them in a nice way and not sounding too repetitive (e.g. having to constantly follow up)?
Thank you, Andrew. There are many ways to hold team members accountable and there are tools and techniques you need to do that. I am attaching the link to my slay project management course that will give you all the answers you need plus so much more. Is there a name for a meeting that takes place a week before the launch of the project? Is it just a status review meeting? The purpose of the meeting is to ensure that every team has everything they need before go live. It’s not a kick-off because every has already done their work, and work is signed off. This would just be that final check-in to ensure everyone is still good, adjust if last changes happen, and get excited about the launch of the project that’s coming soon.
Hi Tara, great question. If you want to put a name to your meeting I would called it Pre-Launch QC (quality check) meeting since you will be getting together to do one last check and balance. Thanks for your question and for watching, cheers!
