blood vessels ( arteries/veins/capillaries)
arteries (vessels that carry blood from heart to whole body tissues)
characters of arteries (thick muscular walls / pulsate / no valves / deep structures)
types of arteries ( large-sized / medium-sized (muscular or distributing arteries) /arterioles)
large-sized arteries (aorta /pulmonary arteries)
medium-sized arteries ( femoral / radial / splenic arteries )
arteriole between an artery and capillaries
main arteries in the body (aorta )
aorta has 4 parts
1- ascending aorta
2-aortic arch
3-descending aorta
4-abdominal aorta
Ascending aorta
first part of aorta / begins at sinotubular junction and terminates as it becomes the aortic arch
it gives right/left coronary arteries which brovide blood to the heart muscle
Aortic arch
is the part of the aorta between the ascending and descending aorta
it has 3 branches
1-brachiocephalic trunk which gives( right subclavian artery / right common carotid artery )
2-left common carotid artery
3-left subclavian artery
Descending aorta
from aortic arch to the aortic opening in the diaphragm
starts from T4 -T12
provide blood to chest wall and spinal cord
Abdominal aorta
starts from diaphragmatic hiatus to the division of two common iliac arteries
from T12 - L4
has 4 branches
1-inferior phrenic artery
provide blood to inferior diaphragm
2-coeliac artery
provide blood to liver / abdominal oesophagus / stomach / spleen / pancreas / first half of duodenum)
by it's branches
1-left gastric artery (abdominal oesophagus / stomach )
2- hepatic artery (liver)
Gastroduodenal artery (first half of duodenum)
3-splenic artery (spleen)
3-superior mesentric artery
provide blood to lower part of duodenum / jejenum / ileum / appendix / cecum / ascending colon / hepatic flexture / first 2/3 of transverse colon
4-inferior mesentric artery
provide blood to the last 1/3 of transverse colon / splenic flexture / descending colon / segmoid colon / rectum
