Chatuge Lake in Hiawassee, Georgia is a gorgeous lake within the Blue Ridge mountains. Considering I've been to every lake in this state, it's the most beautiful lake in Georgia, in my opinion.
Hiawassee is the county seat of Towns County, Georgia, United States.[4] The community's population was 880 at the 2010 census. Its name is derived from the Cherokee-or perhaps Creek-word Ayuhwasi, which means meadow,[5] (A variant spelling, "Hiwassee," is used for the local river and some other Appalachian place names.) Hiawassee is also known in the novel "Restart" by Gordon Korman.

Lake Chatuge is a man-made reservoir in Towns County, Georgia, and Clay County, North Carolina. It lies along the Hiwassee River created by the Chatuge Dam which finished construction in 1942.[2] The lake is relatively shallow with depths of 30 feet (9.1 m) and reaches 144 feet (44 m) by the dam. Lake Chatuge is the highest major lake in the state of Georgia. [3]

I was considering kayaking this lake this weekend, can you tell me where you launched from?
There's a parking lot next to the lake near the downtown square. From what I remember, I googled it and it was also near a boat ramp. I also think it was free. Sorry, that's the best I can do
@@buildthedream77 Thanks. We may launch from Towns County Boat Ramp and paddle north to cross the state line. Kayaking from Georgia to North Carolina. I think you all paddled south. Was the rope north or south of the bridge?
@@Kayak7seas The rope was south of the bridge (in Georgia section of the lake. It was somewhere across the Towns county Beach.
