    Mobility scheme is a big scam, they won't let me buy my car after lease ends. spend £3,500 a year and 3years is 10.5k and end of the day you have nothing and car value is dropped down to £10,600. they make you stay on scheme to get other new car. they sell your mobility car at auction and make big money out of it. I HATE MOBILTY SCHEMES!!!
    don't recommend.

      This is a very fair opinion! It works out well for me as a first time driver because the cost includes insurance which would be very high! In the future once I’ve driven for a few years and my insurance is lower, it may well be worth me buying a car privately! People should deffo do the math before deciding to use the scheme

      for some people like me they dont have a choice i couldnt afford to buy my own car and run it and pay insurance mot tyres and everything else if it wasnt for the motability scheme id be house bound

    I passed my theory 2 years ago but then I had major seizures and then got diagnosed. I’m 1 year seizure free on June 5th and my neurologist said I can start learning again. I’ve already got my theory test rebooked! Also so happy for you and thanks for this great advice definitely going to look into this :)

    I'm just going through PIP and Motability myself! The second you said driving leaves your body feeling in all sorts of ways, I instantly thought do you have EDS 😂🦓 it's funny hearing other people with the same condition explain things the same way I would explain. Makes me realise we're not alone! Thanks for your video 😊🥰

    hi ellie im a disabled driver you can get a push n pull lever that attaches under the steering column and fastens to the pedels squeeze it to accelarate push it forward to brake

      I tried one of these but we concluded that my arms just weren’t strong enough at that point. I can try again in the future though

    Hi Ellie, just another thought regarding avoiding muscle fatigue while driving. A basic hand control system is very easy to use. You push the lever forwards to brake, and pull it towards you to accelerate. Having that as an option, just to avoid pain and fatigue could be very worthwhile. Maybe if not on this car, perhaps on your next one? I have done short drives using that type of hand controls, and found them completely intuitive, and felt comfortable straight away (I am able bodied).

      @Hoocheleven 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neale (Ellie's Dad here)...Many thanks for taking the time and consideration to write with such hugely useful advice. We are going to go to an assessment centre to explore the options you mention, plus whatever else they have. Fingers crossed that Elon Musk or others can apply some of their tech to the challenges over the coming years! ;) Although as yet, there isn't even one electric vehicle available for under 25's on the Motability scheme.

    Wow, Ellie, what a lovely car. I am so pleased for you. I'm really glad you enjoy driving so much. So do I, and I've had a license for 50 years. I used to be a driving instructor. Just some thoughts about how you use your feet. There is nothing wrong with using two feet. However you need to be sure you are not putting any pressure on the brake when you are not braking. The effort of holding your foot there could be quite tiring. If you are able to rest your left foot on a journey that would help you. Now, with regards to your right foot, I guess your car will have cruise control. If you haven't already got used to using it, I strongly recomend you to do so. If necessary take an extra lesson with your friendly driving instructor. Lessons are not just for learners! Making good use of the cruise control makes long journeys so much more enjoyable, I even use it extensively on local trips.
    Maybe one day you will come and visit Spain (where I have lived for 23 years) in your lovely car. Spain has some amazing roads and fabulous scenery. It is not just beaches. Good luck, Neale

    Hey i know this is a video from a while ago but i’m currently researching Motability and wanting some advice on this. For background i am 23 female who was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis back when i was 19. i really want independence and feels this idea would be suitable. But i’m unsure if my illness would gain any point because i have no idea about this. Also with PIP how would this work i’m going to try and apply for pip so i can only pay for the petrol. Please i really want to drive by next year i’m learning

    • @SmallandStrong66
      @SmallandStrong66  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      PIP is a government financial aid so you have to apply through them. Your PIP assessment will also be what decided if you qualify for the Motability’s car scheme or not. So a PIP application is the best place to start I’d say. I hope you’re driving soon!

    As a guy on the Autistic and Global Delay spectrum who is on the enhanced PIP rate, this is a game changer. I'm not in paid employment get but I will start my hunt to get a car and licence from next year. I'm not sure what needs to be paid though, for example theory and practical lessons im unsure if they need to be paid of if they're free.

    • @SmallandStrong66
      @SmallandStrong66  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that depends on your employment status. For example when I was a student on no income, they paid for my lessons but this time around I had to pay because I have income.
