- Brilliant film about tailor making the fastest car in the world for Stirling Moss with MG in 1957. The car has a 1.5 litre twin-cam and Moss plans to exceed 4 miles a minute. Phil Hill broke the record again 2 years later in a modified version of the same car.

BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY
Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it. - กีฬา
RIP Stirling Moss.
The cars too are so beautiful to look at in person as well. With the cars being part of the British Motor Museums collection, just being in the presence of the cars whilst also being able to admire every centimetre of them. Truly is an experience that is in itself.
I agree but they look Iike a soft clean sheet of aluminum
I never knew that Moss did speed records!
Cracking good show chaps !
Awesome piece of history. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for this high quality UL!
I just love these videos
Thanks for this! I've heard about this thing since I was a kid, but have never seen anything other than still photos of the attempt (or the car in a museum). You are an automotive archaeologist.
oldSCCAguy yah it’s in the British Motor Museum in Gaydon in the United Kingdom
RIP Sir Stirling moss
how about that for a world record!! A car built for speed as fast as 240mph and that too in 1957..!!!!!
And that with a 1.5L engine
@@milesromanus7041 Watched another video and he said 240 kilometers / hour... and i was impressed but eh, nowadays a VW Golf can drive faster than that. Turns out it goes 240 mph... (386 kmh)
Beautiful
Good video!
In 2024, car makers still can't make a car that seals perfectly.
Rip Moss
Have you got the full length clip of this?
MG!
4 miles a minute = 240 mph
This car was fastest in its class, but not even close to being the "fastest car in the world." At the time of this film that record was held by the Railton Mobil Special, with a run 10 years earlier that was about 150 MPH faster.
This is true. Still an incredible speed for a 1.5L twin cam vehicle, possibly more remarkable when compared to the Railton with one W12 aircraft engine driving each axle 😮
so they learned nothing from that 10 second test? please explain.
MG is now My Glamour ☹️💩
