Sadly, a few out of print decks Like the Yokai Yochi are going for outrageously high prices. Recently, I saw a copy on ebay going for 750$ USD !!! Which is abusive in my opinion. People and re-sellers are taking advantage and abusing. Even the Bonestone and Earthflesh tarot , last year, the creator had a few copies leftover and was taking advantage by advertising that she was selling them for over 400$ USD a pop! This is ridiculous and it saddens me to see that not only resellers but also creators are taking advantage of people to make a profit. That’s abusive and excessive. It is infuriating. I’m good with waiting for the MassMarket version of that one.
You’re right. Unfortunately there have been a lot of cases in which decks have been sold for ridiculous amounts of money. I noticed though that it’s getting worse in the last few years. I’ve been collecting decks for over 30 years and I remember thinking that 120 euros for the Grand Belline was to be the most I would ever spend on a deck. Now it’s the standard price for an indie deck (especially when it comes from overseas). It’s true that a collectible item is appraised by how much a collector is willing to pay for it, but I’m afraid the lines are really blurred at the moment!
Yeah, like the Tyldwick and Majestic Earth decks would cost me about $1500 usd for both. If I win lotto, sure, heck decks on me lol but it’s really really disheartening when prices inflate to that degree. This isn’t fair to us but also the creators! Let’s say they charge $60 or even $100, after all that’s said and done, obviously their profits will vary but even if they made half of what the deck cost, to have someone buy it and then list it for 7x plus the amount, making a huge profit off of someone else’s hard work, I just don’t agree with that. I know that this is done with any item, comics, Pokémon cards, autographs, etc, but I just feel divination decks are our tools and to price gauge to that degree is not something I condone or would even do myself. That’s just me though.
@@MsNikkieMichelle I wholeheartedly agree! It’s not fair for the creators nor for us collectors and readers alike. Especially when it goes out of hand. And yet, I saw a painting being sold for $$$ at an auction and the painter passed away when he was barely making ends meet. Tarot is different because it’s related to spirituality but many collectors just see the opportunity for a profit 🤷♀️
Yes!! I remember when Avalon had "found an extra box" of Bonestone just laying around and sold them for over $400 🙄 Give me a break. You don't just forget about a box of in demand decks. Personally, I don't understand the appeal of that deck and didn’t want it but I did shake my head when I heard that. As for people selling collectible copies at ridiculous prices....I might be one of the few who don't really have an issue with it 🤷♀️ To me it's the same as having a hard to find antique car, or any hard to find collectible......if someone one is willing to pay what your asking....well, that's on them. Just because some people classify decks as a spiritual tool...doesn't mean that a seller should base their price on that. As another popular Tarot Tuber has said....at the end of the day, a deck is a pile of paper and ink, multiple tarot decks is a luxury......not a necessity. I feel people get to bent out of shape about some deck prices. Would I love to have a garage full of vintage muscle cars? Uhhhh yeah!!! Is that going to happen?....not a chance. Lol.
Yeah that stunt Avalon pulled was pretty dirty. I think that was the first time I saw a creator price gouge that extreme.. had it been like 200 it would have been less disgusting but 444 dollars...smdh@@tarottarantulas
You’re channel is definitely the best I‘ve stumbled across in regards to deck-research. You share amazing decks, your camera & recording/production quality is top notch, you’re providing an overall amazing experience for the viewer. really appreciated. thank you.
Oh thank you so so much 🙏🥰 I really appreciate your words! I always try to improve the quality of my content and even though there’ll always been mistakes I really enjoy being part of this community 🤩
Thank you 🙏🥰 Absolutely, sometimes collectors pass on a Mass Market deck because it’s not hard to find but there are some real gems out there! They’re available, well done and affordable, so why not! 🥰
Beautiful alternatives! I believe the creator of Yokai Yochi tarot is opening their shop up for orders in July. If I’m wrong, I apologize but I’m counting down the days until that happens lol.
I liked that Video a lot. Thank you for showing these alternatives. I do really think on getting the tarocchi yokai. I loved to get the Pythia Tarot for quite some time but it is OOP 😢 I did Get the Mythos Tarot, and love to learn about greek mythology. Have a wonderful New week, Silvia 😘
So nice to see a fellow Australian with a channel!!! Really enjoyed your video. Great idea! I was just curious....how do you store your 500 plus decks?
Ah, that’s the million dollars question 😂😂 I have tried everything and settled for shelves and trolleys. I’m not entirely happy though because I keep on changing the order with which I display them. Alphabetical? Chronological? Thematic? One day, maybe, I’ll find the perfect way to store them, for now I’m just surviving 🤷♀️
I managed to not buy Tarot Landscapes when I saw it at my bookstore because I have Majestic Earth and so thought I didn't need another similar deck and plus dont use it much. Everytime I see the cards though.... it's very tempting!
I’m obviously biased because I love that deck…. But consider that it’s a very affordable deck and they if it fills the space taken by the Majestic Earth, you can use that one instead of ruining the OOP and $$$ one 😉😉😉❤️
The Lioness Oracle Tarot is OOP, I was looking at the Rosebud Tarot to have a same vibe as this deck…..what is everyone else getting to replace oop decks.
I have ALMOST as many decks as you but I have a really hard time remembering everything I own and often end up buying two by mistake. I'm in a no buy right now and just watch your channel in awe. You showcase the most lovely decks and have impeccable taste. How do you inventory or do you have an amazing memory?
Aww thank you 🙏🥰 Don’t be fooled though, I ended up with two copies of the same deck more than once 😂😂 I think I’ve found the right way to store them, with shelves and a couple of trolleys so I can always see all of them but sometimes I just forget what I have 🤷♀️ I did use a spreadsheet a while ago but I found it hard to keep updated so now I rely on my memory 🥰
There are two indie decks I would like to have that are currently unavailable or have copies with ridiculous prices, Blood Moon tarot and Rainbow tarot. Lucky for me though, both of these will be going mass market in a couple of years and next month or so respectively so I'll wait for just that. I don't want them enough to hunt them down and pay up to 1000$+.... I don't think I could use a deck that would cost me that much, and I don't think I'd feel good about the purchase. Thank you for the video!
I know, it’s getting really crazy! And since there’s more and more creators that decide either to reprint or to go Mass Market, these days I think twice before spending $$$ on an OOP deck!
Honestly, a creator in particular charging hundreds of dollars for a deck puts me off the deck- because I don’t know if I think in that case that the creator and my moral energy are aligned. But of course that’s an old question, whether you can love the art even though artists can be very flawed indeed. I tend to take it case by case myself. But knowing that tarot is generally such a powerful self exploration tool, a tool that can help us work through our flaws (and surely greed is a flaw?) and knowing that someone can have created one and then be so willing to exploit gives me pause. Because in that case, are you really so well versed in tarot that you should even be making a deck?
I see what you mean! And then again I think about how much I paid for some decks and I don’t feel regret at all. I think it all boils down to whether we consider it a piece of art and what we’re willing to pay for it 🥰
@@fairlighttarot absolutely! I do love art and I love tarot- it’s not that art isn’t worth money to me, it’s that what tarot in particular symbolizes to me(personally) means that I see it as a tool for spirituality and self growth for huge prices makes me pause. It’s not that I’ve never paid high prices for a deck before, I just wonder what’s going on in the mind and heart of a creator who feels their tool for self healing and spirituality should be limited to those who can afford it. I don’t really have an answer for these thoughts- but I do think them

Hi, i totally agree. Ive spent a fortune literally. Its out of this world. Seriously. Thanks for this review. I like to encourage the indie artists.
Absolutely!! I’m always on the artists’ side 🥰🥰
Really nice choices Silvia ~ in fact, I like some of the alternatives better than the OOP collectibles!
Thank you 🙏🥰 Absolutely, sometimes collectors pass on a Mass Market deck because it’s not hard to find but there are some real gems out there! They’re available, well done and affordable, so why not! 🥰
I just saw that Llewellyn is going to publish a Yokai tarot by Paolo Bertazzo and Marga Biazzi...
😱😱😱 Oh I didn’t know! Thanks for mentioning that, I’ll make sure to check it out 🥰
There are mass market deck very unique even it's hard to find any similar at indie deck, i collect both
Me too! I completely agree, especially in the last 5-10 years there’s been a number of really amazing MM decks being released 🥰
The Arthurien deck would be my first pick :)
That’s a beautiful deck 🥰

😱😱😱 I really hope so!!!! I’m going to get a second copy!!!!
What an interesting hashtag. I’m watching with anticipation
It’s always helpful to know that there are alternatives to the pricey decks on our wishlist 🥰
I liked that Video a lot.

I do really think on getting the tarocchi yokai.

Thank you Angela 🙏🥰 I’ve never even seen the Pythia for sale unfortunately! The Mythos is good, and I’m sure you’ll like the Tarocchi Yokai 🤩

Dungeons & Dragons did that for me with Lubanko tarot :D it’s got that painting like look and fantastical theme. Great video
Oh, I haven’t checked that out but I can see what you mean! That’s a good one, thank you 🥰

Stephen fry has a deck coming out this year based on his books
Yes! I’ve seen the listing for the deck, it’s going to be really interesting! But I know I’m going to miss his voice though 😂
Stephen Fry Greek Mythology book is so much fun, especially if you listen read by him
I agree! He adds so much to the experience, I love him 🥰
Worse I paid for what I thought was an Indie deck version and it was delivered in an Amazon package!
Oh no!! I’m so sorry to hear that! Sometimes Amazon sells indie decks too but most of the times it’s mass market!
