The Sopranos star Lillo Brancato, Jr. sat down with ET's Rob Marciano for his first interview since going to jail for a 2005 burglary that left a New York police officer dead.
Cj Grand When giving kids advice, it's NOT enough just to say "Take care son". Leading, showing and guiding by example consistently is enough. It's a life long responsibility. I know you posted this as an effort to be funny towards any black people who will complain about how they would NOT have been given a second chance. Remember....your last name is MARTINEZ. You are not exempt from the same hatred that blacks face.
I worked with him in a movie last year. He is honestly such a nice, caring, and down-to-earth guy. I think he's come a long way since being in jail and is really working on moving forward and bettering himself. He is so talented and I am glad to see that he is getting back in the industry and also working on being the best version of himself.
I met Lillo a few times and he was always grateful for people who showed an interest in him and his work. He's a super nice guy and was always extremely talented. His problem was that he surrounded himself with the wrong kind of people. He did his time and deserves a second chance. I've read that Chad Palminterri wants nothing to do with him and that's just sad.. I'm definitely rooting for him to get back his life and realize his abilities. He has a lot to offer the film business for sure.
You can't blame Chaz for that choice. He gave Lilo everything, did everything in his power to sway him to the straight and narrow, but still Lilo failed them both. Whatever Lilo has become now, Chaz owes him nothing more than he's already given - he has his own wellbeing to consider, and for anyone that has to come first. Lilo messed up the relationship, they both know it, and eventually everyone just needs to accept the way things are and move on with their lives. I'm sure, deep down, Chaz is very glad that Lilo has evolved into a decent person, but he has zero obligation to expose himself again to someone who so deeply betrayed him before. I admire the talent and work of them both, but Chaz is absolutely justified in his desire to remain distanced from Lilo.
He was only involved in a burglary, and he didn't have anything to do with the shooting of the police officer. If it weren't for the felony murder law, which many states don't even have, he never would have even been considered for a murder charge. He did his time, he paid for his crime, and I wish him all the luck in the world.
I don't care what they say about this dude. He messed up..did his time...regrets every moment of his addiction and what happened to the officer[RIP]. The pain in his eyes to this day says it all. He bounced back and even helps people who are addicted or has issues. I wish him the best.

I agree, it is great to have him back. I'd love to see him in some more movies too. :) And I bet he will do very well and stay on the right path. He seems very strong and very determined. I strongly believe that he will continue to do well, and flourish and prosper.
I don't think he's a bad guy .unfortunately he was addicted to drugs but he's not a killer..the OTHER guy was the actual shooter and killer..Lillo was unarmed..He served his time and I hope Hollywood gives him a 2nd chance ..and I hope he gets more roles. The saddest thing in life IS wasted talent ..
I cant believe some of these comments I am reading. So if you and your pal are leaving the club and your drunk pal mind you, decides to drive home and you let him, then he kills someone DUI style on the way home, YOU should also be charged with murder eh? Sure he did wrong. Drug addicts dont make smart choices, thats why they are drug addicts. The cop imo pulled a George Zimmerman. He should have stayed in bed, called his homies and then MAYBE got involved when backup arrived. And no Im not talking down on the cop, he thought he was doing the right thing. HE even shot Lillo twice in the chest. The only crime Lillo committed was breaking and entering to score a fix. Its so stupid he got that many years just for being there. Sure charge him with something like criminal tresspass, but murder? When he was unarmed? Just because his friend was? Ridiculous! You may think its not, but think how many innocent people go to prison because of shit like this, especially minorities, and especially out of minorities , blacks in particular. It has nothing to do with me "defending a druggie", it has to do with fair and equal action of the LAW!
+Alex frazier Surprisingly Im not from Europe. Im American, and in the South no less where shit like this is notorious. The law says "Well you could have stopped your friend." Ever seen two people looking for a drug fix have a reasonable discussion when they are both out of their mind because they need it? So lets say he DID try to stop his friend. An argument would have ensued which would lead to violence and more than likely, death as his friend would have shot him. So you would be fucked in either case. Lets even go so far as to say during the violent argument he kept from being shot by his own friend and ended up killing him accidentally. Then the law wants to still charge him with murder.
WoW I just watched your documentary “Wasted Talent” it bought tears to my eyes not because I’m in agreement but because I Disagree. You have so much to give and have given with your Amazing Talent🥰 Life throws us LESSONS and you have LEARNED 😘 your in my prayers and I look forward to you back on the tv/movie screen and if it doesn’t happen.. Spread your lessons learned because you are not alone 😍🙏🏾THANK YOU for giving us the films that you did ... I still enjoy them All 🙏🏾BLESSINGS TO YOU... Did I mention how Fabulous you look Keep Up the Good Work 👍
Obie wan Jabronie This guy should still be in jail how did Patrick Lynch and the dead cop family allow him to make parole. I remember 4 guy was charged with the murder of a cop in Queens when only 2 were the shooters but all 4 got 25 to life guess what they were black. JUST SAYING.
Justice Not Just Us lol why should this guy still be in jail he litteraly never done anything wrong, wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person. The system is fuckin retarded.
Enclave Trooper He hadn't even robbed the place yet before the cop arrived, all he did was break the window you fucking dumbass. Robbing is when you actually get something in your hands and take it outta the home without permission or the owner knowing. He didn't have ANYTHING. You are truly a fucking idiot, huh?
First off he was burglarizing the home ..he was breaking an entry into a home that wasn't his ..the cop heard the noise and came outside to see what was going on ..like a good neighbor should..he conformed the two scumbags crawling through his neighbors window he yelled freeze don't move ..one scumbag pulled a gun and shot at the man (the cop) if the scumbag didn't pull his gun no one would have gone to prison ..if he would have taken the BE charge he probably would have done 2 to 3 yrs or had it dropped down to trespassing on private property and got community service..
What he did in his past was horrible but I see remorse in his eyes. He can't let the past stop him from doing great things in the future. I've been a fan of his since I was 10 years old and I am rooting for him. Everybody derserves a second chance. He's one of my favorite stars.
if you watched what he said in the 20/20 interview, Broncatto took full responsibility for his part in the crime and agreed sincerely when the interviewer quoted the last line at the end of A Bronx Tale: "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent and the decisions you make now will shape your life in the future." He never shifted the blame or blamed anyone else but himself for what he involved himself in. it takes huge balls and deep down soul searching to admit when you're wrong. i think this man deserves a second chance in life. had he actually pulled the trigger then i think he should stay in jail for life, but after serving his10 year sentence, he paid his debt, accepted his part in the crime, admitted he was wrong and accepted his punishment without denial, pride or anger. much respect to him.
Lillo is doing a lot better now and I trust that he will stay on the much better path that he is on now. I pray for him every single night. May God Bless him and grant him strength, perseverance, protection and happiness.
sparta constantine He looks fine. There is nothing wrong with his eyes. My family, my friends and associates, and even people who I don't know but have read comments that they've written on news articles all agree with me on that. He is not doing anything wrong right now nor will he ever, I am quite sure. He has learned from the mistakes he made, he regrets what happened and he is on a much more decent and clean path. He has made it clear that he wants to stay sober and I can clearly see that he is doing so much better. He is very determined to stay on the good path that he is on and I am sure he will do it. He is very strong willed and he will not go back to the way he was before when all of the problems were going on. He carries himself very well and there is nothing wrong with him.
This is one of the saddest stories I have ever read about. I am not going to make any other comments about others comments except to say that I agree with most of them and in particular the ones that talked about the laws in different states. If you can't do the time don't do the crime and stay away from drugs and bad influences. I will say certain people don't deserve a second chance while others do and I believe with all my heart that this man deserves a second chance no matter what that is. I truly believe he is redeemable and I don't think there's anyone else that can learn a harder lesson in such a harsh way. Time will tell but be kind, this world is tough enough as it is without everyone reminding you about your mistakes every minute of every day.
Bro plz listen to what I have 2 say here...... Im a 36 year US Army retired US Army Blackhawk pilot. I had something happen toi be back in 1970 when I was stationed in Germany...... We were all smoking hash and were busted my a Captain and this guy gave me a break. I ALWAYS remembered this. My lesson was simple I truely believe in giving people a second chance. U hang in there Bro stay clean and U will survive. I enjoyed you on the Sprains. U R a very talented guy, If Charlie Sheen and Robert Downey can overcome so can U my friend. I would love to buy U a beer. Take Care and remember this ALWAYS. Jesus Loves You!!!!! Dustoff85
You were 36 , four years ago and got busted smoking hash in Germany back in 1970...how old were u about 1 ?...damm!!! No wonder u saw him in sprain lol🥴😂!
I don't judge addicts, I just know some choices aren't conducive with staying out of trouble. BTW a JUDGE, and Jury (that also Judged BTW),..judged he should do time.
sraufstok You be done plenty wrong in your life, just as anyone. Your sin is no better than anyone else's sin, regardless of how society sees it. Our society tends to gauge crimes and put them on a scale of which is worse. You're no better than anyone. Sorry to break it to ya
The ironic point is that the last line I remember from him in 'A Bronx Tale' was "There is nothing worse than wasted talent". Yes, he should have listened to Sonny.
I hope you make it in that crazy Hollywood business Lillo. Truly only the strong survive but they're not without scars either. However, those scars, sorrows and mistakes can turn into great wisdom. Good Luck!
He didn't shoot the officer, and he did his time. He even took a correspondents course in prison. He's trying to turn his life around. He isn't some thug or degenerate. He was young, addicted to drugs and made a mistake. If the justice system can see that, why can't we?
Guy never shot anybody. IN FACT, he GOT shot while he was unarmed. TWICE. Didn't know the other guy had a gun. I question whether he should've done any jail time.
I like lillo Brancato and he does deserve a second chance , ppl make mistakes and learn from them.... I hope him the best and hope he makes the best out of life and a new career.... I would love to see him on film again and making such good movies like he has already done before... Best wishes Lillo
this story is very odd, i can see the friend being shot since he had a gun and fired. but why did the cop shoot them both. im guessing out of fear thinking that lilo may have also had a gun? so he basiclaly did 10 years and got shot twice because he broke a window/burglery and his friend doing a crime of shooting. im not a cop hater at all or any of that type of shit. but id say he definitely served his time for not even firing one round and not personally killing someone he didnt know was a cop
How hard is it to understand that Lilo didn't kill the cop at all??? The cop shot Lilo because Lilo turned around when he heard the cop say "Don't move!"
A fantastic teenage actor who was Brilliant in Renaissance Man and Crimson Tide. Had no idea this happened to him. He did his time, he deserves a second chance BUT the moral of the story is DON'T DO DRUGS KIDS!
God Bless P.O. Daniel Enchautegui, NYPD, 40th Precinct, EOW 12-10-2005. A true hero, off duty, just trying to do his job, protecting his neighbors and neighborhood. Gave his life protecting others. A sheepdog protecting sheep from the wolves. I ask that we all keep Daniel and his family in mind while watching this interview...
He should never gotten time. Strict forced rehabilitation in a government medical facility,... absolutely!! The burglary charge should have never stuck...he broke a glass never entered the house. Trespassing and destruction of property ....yes! Getting shot twice, unharmed.. should have paid for those crimes. I feel sorry for him.
"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."
+r1234 The irony, ole the irony.
heyitsablackguy Yup but the sad part is that he didn't use the advise from that movie. But I hope he can move on and do better things from now on.

I agree, it is great to have him back. I'd love to see him in some more movies too. :) And I bet he will do very well and stay on the right path. He seems very strong and very determined. I strongly believe that he will continue to do well, and flourish and prosper.
He was definitely wrongly convicted. It wasn't him. It was Sean. Sean all the way.
He spent 20 years drinking Diet Fanta in the can… and not a peep.
shoulda bought more webistics
I wish him the best! He seems to be on the right path.
He seems nice
I don't think he's a bad guy .unfortunately he was addicted to drugs but he's not a killer..the OTHER guy was the actual shooter and killer..Lillo was unarmed..He served his time and I hope Hollywood gives him a 2nd chance ..and I hope he gets more roles. The saddest thing in life IS wasted talent ..
He lives in my neighborhood he’s a scum bags and everyone here knows him
Andrew Carrasquillo what neighborhood is that
He sexcy
holy shit him being released is over 10 years ago???!!!!!
IT WAS SEAN I SWEAH IT WAS SEAN ALL THE WAY
Hope hes doing good. You can see the genuine remorse and sorrow in his eyes
I wonder if Jane visited him in jail???
Yeah His cellmate visited him every nite.
LOL ! "I like Italians"
😑
Then the law wants to still charge him with murder.
well said
Honestly dude I was thinking about moving. Im 46 and lived here since birth but it just doesn feel the good ole America I grew up with.

Felony Murder Rule.
Have a problem with it? Tell your local representative.
He seems sincere, and story remained the same before he went in.it could have went either way hope he gets his life back
He was so talented and ADORABLE! He did his time and now deserves a second chance. Hope to see him back in film one day. ❤
or when lillo's nephew gets older one day and he maybe get into acting school and finish what he started
should have listened to both Sonny and Lorenzo
Agree.
Did I mention how Fabulous you look Keep Up the Good Work 👍
Wtf was the cop thinking just shooting someone for breaking a window. Lilo shouldn't have done time it was the guy he was with that shot the cop.
Please don't associate autism with idiots, thank you.
A Bronx Tale was one of my favorite movies growing up
What he did in his past was horrible but I see remorse in his eyes. He can't let the past stop him from doing great things in the future. I've been a fan of his since I was 10 years old and I am rooting for him. Everybody derserves a second chance. He's one of my favorite stars.
Exactly!
if you watched what he said in the 20/20 interview, Broncatto took full responsibility for his part in the crime and agreed sincerely when the interviewer quoted the last line at the end of A Bronx Tale: "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent and the decisions you make now will shape your life in the future." He never shifted the blame or blamed anyone else but himself for what he involved himself in. it takes huge balls and deep down soul searching to admit when you're wrong. i think this man deserves a second chance in life. had he actually pulled the trigger then i think he should stay in jail for life, but after serving his10 year sentence, he paid his debt, accepted his part in the crime, admitted he was wrong and accepted his punishment without denial, pride or anger. much respect to him.
DAT HAIRLINE DOE
Loubna 75 Robocop would be jealous!

Everyone from the Bronx tale went bald

"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent and the choices you make will shape your life forever."-Chazz Palminteri-
Even Mush and Coffee cake are shaking their heads in disgust!
Ruben Clemente he should have got shoved in the toilet with them
The saddest thing in life is a receding hairline
What a waste of a perfectly good shine box.
He was famous with movies like renaissance man and A bronx tale.
Bronx Tale the best movie ever big props to Robert De Niro
Are we gonna glaze over the fact an off-duty cop shot someone leaving his neighbours house even after calling 911?
Dustoff85
Charlie Sheen?
You were 36 , four years ago and got busted smoking hash in Germany back in 1970...how old were u about 1 ?...damm!!!
No wonder u saw him in sprain lol🥴😂!
sorry to hear this,,,,a bronx tale will always be my fav movie!!
Cast your first stone if you are a fking angel ! Anyone ?
Everyone is judgmental. You're judging people for being judgmental, making you judgmental.
I don't judge addicts, I just know some choices aren't conducive with staying out of trouble.
BTW a JUDGE, and Jury (that also Judged BTW),..judged he should do time.
Never burglarized a home for kodein and got a cop murdered, so yea, I'm throwing rocks left and right you idiot
sraufstok You be done plenty wrong in your life, just as anyone. Your sin is no better than anyone else's sin, regardless of how society sees it. Our society tends to gauge crimes and put them on a scale of which is worse. You're no better than anyone. Sorry to break it to ya
Emperor Palpitate murder is in one of the Commandments
The ironic point is that the last line I remember from him in 'A Bronx Tale' was "There is nothing worse than wasted talent". Yes, he should have listened to Sonny.
EVERYONE deserves a second chance . Hope a director out there reads this.
No hev RyOne doesn't. People Can choose to give u a second chance. They are not obligated to do it

Petition for A Bronx take 2
Cop should of mind his business, especially off duty and 5 in the morning. The kid did his Time and wasn’t the shooter, let him go.
I hope you make it in that crazy Hollywood business Lillo. Truly only the strong survive but they're not without scars either. However, those scars, sorrows and mistakes can turn into great wisdom. Good Luck!
Looks like Robocop when he take his helmet off
He got a "beavis and butt-head" line up!! 😂😂😂😂
He didn't shoot the officer, and he did his time. He even took a correspondents course in prison. He's trying to turn his life around. He isn't some thug or degenerate. He was young, addicted to drugs and made a mistake. If the justice system can see that, why can't we?
He is still a star ⭐️
Guy never shot anybody. IN FACT, he GOT shot while he was unarmed. TWICE. Didn't know the other guy had a gun. I question whether he should've done any jail time.
Bronx tale 2 should be his story
Like we didn't see this coming, it was always said "He never had the makings of a Varsity Athlete"😂
He didn't pull the trigger. He was unarmed. He drugged out and not himself. Why should he be charged with murder.
James Matthews but what happened I still do not understand.. he’s INOCENnt maybe
He admitted De Niro tried to warn him to stay humble with the rising fame, but he didn't listen.
The man served 8 years didn't have a gun was shot 2 times I think that's good enough
His hairline go way back like old friends!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
I like lillo Brancato and he does deserve a second chance , ppl make mistakes and learn from them.... I hope him the best and hope he makes the best out of life and a new career.... I would love to see him on film again and making such good movies like he has already done before... Best wishes Lillo
It was Shawn, just Shawn 🤣
So the cop just shot them both in total of 6 times before his friend tried to defend himself.
wtf?
The friend shot the cop first. Then the cop returned fire.
+Rumpa Stiltskin wrong lilo was shot first
the cop could have been telling his buddy not to move, then he was shot by his buddy. it wasn't clear to me.
Lillo not Lilo.
To the system, there is no such thing as self defense against a cop, even if your life was at stake.
Y is nobody talking about this man hairline that shit ALL THE WAY BACK😂
this story is very odd, i can see the friend being shot since he had a gun and fired. but why did the cop shoot them both. im guessing out of fear thinking that lilo may have also had a gun? so he basiclaly did 10 years and got shot twice because he broke a window/burglery and his friend doing a crime of shooting. im not a cop hater at all or any of that type of shit. but id say he definitely served his time for not even firing one round and not personally killing someone he didnt know was a cop
rocky balboa fuck that moron cop. And fuck you you stupid fuck.
mindaugas bulotas preach it brother!
rocky balboa no thanks...I don't fuck my buddies in the ass like all pigs do!
A real Bronx tale, fame, money, wasted talent, drugs, prison. You've seen it all.
How sad. I read that Chaz Palminteri wants nothing to do with him.
Yeah, Chas is really pro-cop... and was outraged that Lillo was part of a murder. He said he never wants to speak to him again.
+Ted Cantu.......don't call him Chaz....wat r u, his bff ?
chaz is a hypocrite. the Italian community of actors should have helped him while he was on drugs
How hard is it to understand that Lilo didn't kill the cop at all??? The cop shot Lilo because Lilo turned around when he heard the cop say "Don't move!"
It's Lillo not Lilo.
Robocop called,he wants his hairline back!
Give this Colombian, "Lilo" a second break. Good actor BTW!.
A fantastic teenage actor who was Brilliant in Renaissance Man and Crimson Tide. Had no idea this happened to him. He did his time, he deserves a second chance BUT the moral of the story is
DON'T DO DRUGS KIDS!
Sounds like he is still blaming Sean
His description of the incident was rehearsed.
Bad karma...
HIS FOREHEAD GAME GOT STRONG IN GYM😂😂😂😂
3 people shot over what?? some drugs??? shouldv stayed his ass in bed and not played robo cop
FUEG 617 pretty much... Had the option of picking up the ☎.
FUEG 617: Lilo and his boy should have stayed their asses in bed and this loss of life wouldn't have occurred.
WHAT IS WITH HIS HAIR LINE LOL
He was so handsome this is so sad
You should have offered him a Fanta with sugar in it...
Maybe he can star in a Lillo and Stitch movie!
I feel sorry for him.
of course the cop fired AFTER he was shot at lol
No cop wants to respond to a call like that says the announcer, despite the fact that the cop was off duty and went investigating on his own.
He's got an associates degree may he can work for wibistics
