    I agree! Niemann is next in line for injury if he continues on his current swing technique. I sadly predicted Will's back injury. Happy to see him out there, truly one the pga's most watchable players. Talented, humble, smart, a market asset. Best wishes Will! Major titles await you!

    I think that this TH-cam and other TH-cam’s would be helpful for you. Will Zalatoris is 6’ 2” and weighs 170 and change. He has recently had to modify his swing to address back injury.

    Funny how I stumbled on this, I was getting my right shoulder too high around impact and was forced to stand up too quick, now I tried keeping shoulder tilt downward great finish but did notice lower back pain.
    There is such a fine line in that hitting area. I think getting the angle close, then using the arms with speed may help.

    I'm not sure how new this insight really is. I recall seeing stories in Golf Digest 30 years ago discussing how "reverse C" moves - side bend in the modern slang - tend to be the sign of back problems to come.

    Trying to create this side bend has caused me long term sciatica, back hasn’t been the same since.

      Sounds like you herniated the same disc that Zalatoris did. Coincidentally, I herniated the same disc as well, and I am of the same skinny lanky build as Zalatoris.
      Herniated discs used to be an older body, or an overweight body type of issue. They’re now becoming prevalent in skinny, lanky golfers as well.

    A missing piece of information is when Will went to TPI, they found one his hips weren't very flexible for the amount of side bend he was using. Hence why all that force was going through his lower back. Side bend in of itself isn't always an issue

    • @TheRuggedWay
      @TheRuggedWay 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If your right hip is higher than the lower back while twisting, it’s always the issue

  • @ellipsis9573
    @ellipsis9573 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    He needs to straighten the trail leg on the back swing, too, and keep it softer on the through swing. The main issue is having way more should tilt than hip tilt and not the reverse c.

  • @randalllassila9090

    A lot of good players start moving their head back during the downswing in an effort to create side bend. You could see that when he was younger he wouldn't do that but developed it as he went along. It happens a lot when trying to hit up with the driver. That's how it gets excessive for a good player. In the shots shown now, he's not doing that anymore, so they corrected it. Need hip slide on downswing to get side bend started but don't have head moving back.

    Zalatoris is going to injury his lower back/pelvis again. He still keeps his big right toe down at impact
    This stresses the spine where it is fused to the pelvis. The stress has to go the left heel and left big toe has to release.
    Every golfer has to release the big toe(left foot) and preferably invert the foot as Jack Nicklaus and Johnny Miller did.

    • @dtgps
      @dtgps 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correction: Big left toe has to release at impact.. preferably the left foot inverts, with weight on to the left heel NOT the left toes.

    • @dtgps
      @dtgps 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Watch Scottie Scheffler release his left big toe and invert his left foot....it will keep his lower back free of injury for many years....not an accident or style points.

    Not even GD knows how Will Z damaged his spine and will in time take him out of golf all together.
    Instead GD talks, "side bend"
    Jack Nicklaus G.O.A.T. and Johnny Miller released tension on their lower back by
    inverting their left foot(left big toe) through impact. Will Z keeps his left big toe down. That move will destroy the lower spine/pelvic basin.
    The so called TURN in golf swing is a pivot around the right hip joint in BS and pivot around the left hip through impact. Read, The Hogan Manual of Human Performance: GOLF, 1991.

    • @moccasinmarine
      @moccasinmarine 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree. All I see is the left wrist is bowed more at the top of backswing which shallows the club coming down. His old swing required a drop move with the arms to shallow the club. Now his arms just return on the same plane and club shallows automatically

      He's got one of the most unique swings in golf. Luckily for him, if you watch it, theres not a ton of back bend. He somehow has turned the golf swing into not just a rotation, but forward motion because of his feet.

      Scottie's feet sliding, and literally leaving the ground at points, alleviates a lot of pressure and tension
