    Nice vid perhaps a bit more on when things go wrong. Pressed button 'til blue in the face - nothing except continuous red led - reset nothing but red light - then reset by holding for a long time it eventually worked - also the diagram that comes with it doesnt say you have to prize the back off to get to the reset button - why didn't they just drill a small hole to obviate all that fannying about?

    Good review. I had hoped this might be a replacement for a ceiling light switch but it's not, so thanks for the info.

    I do have a question about the smart button, wondered if you can help.
    I have three smart lights in my living room, two main lights and a lamp.
    Is there an option to set this button up to control the two main lights, but not the lamp?
    Thank you again.

      I’m sure if you make a zone in the Hue app that should be possible.

      yes, you can customize that on hue app

    Stand alone I will need two buttons for two lights within the same room?
    Is there any way to use one button for two lights controlled separately in the same room?
    Awesome video btw, keep up the good work!

      assign the button and all the lights to a room then the button will control all the lights in that room.

    can I connect the button straight via BT to a bulb that's already connected to a bridge?

  • @1987RaPsCaLLioN
    @1987RaPsCaLLioN 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I bought this for my wife and I to be able to turn on and off the lights without getting out of bed. Unfortunately you can only have one button per bulb so only she has the power, id like this a lot more if you could pair 2 buttons to one bulb like in my situation but apparently you can’t.

    He says that this button can work without a bridge. Does it mean that if i have a lightbulb that works with Google Home without ANY bridge i can use this button to turn it on and off?
    (The lightbulb is from Nooie)

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No the bridge is required to work with Google.

      Look up a Hue Wall Switch Module, that goes behind your current switch

    I can't find a use for this for lights. I'd just press the wall switch lol

    • @GreeniusGenius
      @GreeniusGenius 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you cut the power the smart bulbs using a dumb switch, they won’t be available to control via Alexa, via your automations, the app etc.

    As always a very good and informative video with something that should be great but the product is very poor imo.
    I have 4 of these Hue buttons and none of them work anymore. 1 refuses to connect now despite being connected previously and that's after being reset (Philips refunded that for me), 1 forgets, after a few days, what it was programmed to do and the other 2 chewed through a battery per week despite not being used.

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your experience, could it be a low / weak battery causing this issue you've had?

    • @aberdeenal3234
      @aberdeenal3234 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GeekStreet replaced with new batteries and still problem exists. When checking the voltage of the "used" batteries they were 2.5V after a week and only being used a handful of times

    How in the name of all that’s holy did you manage to set it up so that it just turns the lights on and off? It’s absurd that it’s set up to toggle light temps. I’m going insane!

  • @inhaleexhale
    @inhaleexhale 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I honestly don't see any need for this. I would either use a regular light switch or I would use Alexa's voice or an Alexa routine to turn on a light.
